Have you tried topical Fin??? - H&W are doing this now for Canadian patients and it seems to have all the benefits of oral fin with none/infinitely lower probabilty of sides (as it goes less systematic than oral fin). I'm presuming you got off Fin because of side issues? Perhaps trying this for a while could be an option to recover crown.

I have never heard of topical fin but am going to look into it. Do you know if there are any sexual side effects?

  2. Hey gang. I had an FUT (3,750) back in 2010 with Dr Hasson. He mostly did the front and left the back to propecia (which I’ve had to discontinue.)

I think it’s time for a 2nd procedure to fill it in. Before I progress to discussing with doctors, trying to educate myself a little again on procedures.

Do you guys think FUE will be enough or would I require another FUT (if possible)?  Propecia isn’t an option for me anymore, sadly.

My precious FUT scar isn’t bad at all (thanks Dr Hasson) so I’m not opposed to that. Just not sure it’s necessary.

  3. That could be from a variety of factors. First, if you got anywhere near that amount, I suspect your have great donor density. Second, perhaps you have a big head....now I'm not giving you a hard time, but people with bigger heads have more strip length when measured "ear to ear" than people with little heads. That would translate into more grafts per strip too. Finally, the breakdown of singles doubles and triples factors in. For example, lets imagine that if we did all singles, we would certainly be breaking follicular units into single hair grafts but perhaps we could get say 4000 out of a particular strip. Now if the cutters were told to cut them as they saw the units themselves under the scope, you may get 1000 singles, and 1000 doubles and a few hundred triples... so their your graft count from that strip goes down from 4k to 2400.... and finally lets imagine that that strip has very fine hairs and your trying to cover the crown, and maybe you want bulkier grafts of 3s which might even have a resting follicle in there too. Well then you may get 1200 3's...which would not be really follicular units, but maybe mini-minigrafts....

Different docs have different thoughts on this, but you can see that there may be more than one way to get different graft amounts from the same strip depending on hair quality, need, and doctor/patient goals.

This is very interesting, I didn't know there were so many variables involving doubles and triples, tho it makes obvious sense.

(And yes, I do have a big head.)

  4. Men do experience side effects; it happens with any drug. I was one of those men.

Cut your dosage in half and try that. I've done that for the last 5 months and haven't had ANY problems this time. Libido is the same, no tender nipples, no funky semen, no weak erections. I still had my crown thicken up and a little bit of thickening in my front area. It's probably not as much as I would achieve at full dosage, but it's an excellent trade-off.

  5. I agree they don't last that long. But sometimes they become very tender. So i expel the pimple. Which in turn makes the pain go away. is that a bad idea?

I've never done that, but also none of mine have hurt. My head was pretty numb up until a couple weeks ago.

  6. Do you guys leave or pop the pimple? I am going for a HT soon and want to know stuff like this beforehand.

    Cheers.

I leave them. They aren't the same kind of pimples that grow on your face. At first I expected them to stay for a few days or require benzoyl peroxide or something, but each pimple has a very short shelf life (2 days or so) and aren't obvious.

Sometimes I'll towel dry a little harder than usual and it does the trick.

  7. Another scar question from me. Background info again: Had 3800+ hairs transplanted from a 1cm or so FUT by Dr. Hasson early October. Was one of the unlucky few who get shockloss all over scar line. It's now been almost 3 months and just came back from a haircut and it's looking much better.

Just curious though: Does hair shockloss return when the rest of shockloss on recipient area does? Or will it be earlier or later? My scar is my biggest concern, even over the transplanted hair on head.

    Thanks guys!

  8. I'm in NY and yes, would travel.

I'm hoping to get my septum corrected as well; I remember my father going through the surgery a few years ago and it seemed really painful, but hopefully it will help me breathe easier as well.

I've been researching online so far, different types of procedures and such, the only thing is most of the before/afters are of women and I want to see someone who specializes in men, I guess you could say.
