Just to clarify. The area where the transplanted hair is in front of natural hairline, which I was told is 80-90 cm2. The area to be corrected is probably 4.5 cm2. I'm concerned the transplanted hair will not match my natural hairline. Thanks

Ok. I have had several consults to see which is best for me. My goal is to have my hairline advanced. I've been told that I probably have 80-90 per cm2 density. I would prefer not to have the surgical hairline advancement but am concerned that the transplanted hair won't match my natural density. The other concern is that I will probably have thinning as I get older and this will basically reveal the scar from surgery, and ultimately require a transplant. Any advice would be really appreciated.

It seems like a lot of the guys have wavy hair after transplant. Is that the way their natural hair is or is that something that happens to tranplanted hair?

I amhaving a 350 FUE procedure performed at the end of the month to correct an asymmetry in my hairline. How loing before a can return to high intensity training: Weight lifting, running, biking swimming, and mixed martial arts. Has anyone had any experience with a similar situation and did you have any problems?

I am reposting this from my other post hoping it gets more responses: I am attempting to have an asymmetry in my naturally high hairline corrected. I estimate that the area is 4.5 cm squared. After consultatiuons with several doctors, all of whom are highly recommended on this site, I have been told that I need 300-350 grafts to correct this. What I don't understand is the difference between follicular units and hairs. Apparently the average hairs produced by 1 follicular unit is 2.2 per unit. Is a graft a follicular unit or a hair? Would 350 grafts producing an average of 2.2 hairs each create approximately 770 (2.2fu x 350) hairs for density? Its a bit confusing. Especially when you're paying per graft. Also, the variable seems to be the amount of grafts that actually produce hairs after transplantation. The next thing is "hair loss." This site indicates that it takes 50% of hair loss before any thinning is noticed. If 50% is ment as hairs, how many folicles does that represent at an average of 2.2 hairs per folicle? The skill of the dototr seems to be the greatest variable and apparently why reputation is so important. You can pick a great doctor with an artist eye for placement, but is a complete butcher at harvesting. Therefore destroying grafts before there ever planted. All the while charging you per graft. This is a tuff decision. I have no noticable hair loss, but an obvious asymmetrical abnormality and have to choose between a hair transplant or surgical hairline advancement. I have been trying to research on line and it appears that, on average, a person has 100 hairs per square centimeter. Could a procedure ever come close to that, hypothetically? How many grafts would be neede to cover 1 square cm of bare skin? Much of the information on-line discusses appearance of fullness and what's appropriate for individual situations. I'm just curious if that could ever be replicated. Thanks

I given two quotes in manhattan. The first was $6500, the second was $6000, And s third in Long Island for a flat rate of $10 per. Maybe it's just the area but they all seemed a little high. I'm not looking to assess hair loss, I have an asymmetrical hairline I want corrected. I am also trying to find out if it can be corrected surgically. The fue procedures are almost the price of surfer, which has instant results. I'm really bot sure what to do. Thanks for the response.

I started with the full pill but I think I am going to just take half. Taking pills never really appealed to me. My prescription plan did not cover the Propecia. How will it cover the generic?

Ok, I picked up the Propecia and my regular doctor told me to take every day. Should I start with every other day? Any advise on where to buy it would be great. Thanks, Mike

I have met with a doctor on Lomg Island and he recommended 200-300 grafts in approximately 3 square centimeters to even out and lower my hairline. I am still weighing my options. The decision is tuff. I am considering a surgical advancement or a hair transplant. decidind between the two is the hard part.

I am trying to get my digital camera to work. I really have to think this threw, The more I look at old photos, the mor I realize it is not just my hair that has always bothered me. A high hairline runs in my family and my sister is actively looking for a cosmetic surgeon to change hers. I think I may need a combination of things.
