  1. Ive been using it for a couple weeks now. Havent noticed anything. But its cheap and ya gotta shampoo anyway... so ya might as well try it.
  2. Bumping this, because I have noticed the same thing and would also like to know
  3. Well my doctor is an ass, so he just took a quick look at my head and said "you still have a lot of hair", then proceeded to write my prescription refill and send me on my way. But as far as my progress is concerned. My hair loss seems to have slowed down a lot. Right now I'm past that "I'd be happy if I could just keep what I have" phase. I cut my hair really short so I can see tiny hairs coming in all over my head, but I lose a lot of hair when I shower so I think it evens itself out.
  4. I just got back from the doctor for my 6 month post-propecia check up. I told him that a few months ago I started taking the pills twice a day (2mg a day). He told me that its a waste of money. Since 1mg, 2mg, or even 5mg a day will do the same thing. I guess what I'm trying to ask is.. is there any evidence or reason to believe that increased dosage of propecia can be more effective? Or am I really just wasting my money

  6. I'm 21 also and well on my way to baldness. I shave my hair down to stubble so it is not very noticeable. But if it gets any longer than stubble, you can see that it is very thin all over my head and my crown is extremely thin. I have been taking propecia for about 6 months now and I dont think it has been doing anything for me. I havent been dealing well with my hairloss either. Being only 21 and going bald can sometimes feel like the worst thing in the world. I also wear a hat all the time now, but I try not to make it a habit because I dont want to become dependent on it. I'm also afraid to see reactions from people who I havent seen in a long time and remember me as having longer hair. It's just something we have to deal with. The only thing we can do is take advantage of the meds and HT technology (which I personally do not plan on doing).
  7. This question is for anyone who has had good results from propecia, but I directed it to Vocor since he has the best results I've ever seen from the drug. I was wondering if your hair got any worse during the process of the regrowth. My hair is very similiar to your "before" picture that you posted. I was wondering if your hair got worse before it got better, or if it continually got better from the time you started the drug. I'm on month 5 of propecia now. My hair doesnt seem to be getting any better. I keep regrowing some hair, but more hair continues to fall out, so its not really a victory in my mind. Thank you
  8. Fair enough. I suppose my first posts were somewhat implicitive. And I dont come to this board looking for an fight or anything, so I apoligize if I came off hostile.
  9. Damn, look at this uproar I have created. First of all, the summer is over and I'm back in classes. So my drinking habits arent as extreme (or even close) to what it was during the summer. And I hate that stereotypical college kid bullshit just as much as you. I hate most college kids. I hate going to their stupid ass parties too. My idea of a good time is hanging out with 10 or so of my close friends and playing cards, bbqing, watching movies, and yes.. drinking. So dont try to pigeon-hole me, because you dont know me. The reason college kids drink so much is because its the first time in their life that they dont really have any responsibilities (granted you can handle your schoolwork). And for the first time in their lives they dont have to answer to anyone. We dont drink to fill some preset standard that were expected to be. We drink because being drunk is fun and its what we want to do. I simply wanted to know if anyone had any information on propecia in conjuction with alcohol. To those of you who showed concern, thank you. I appreciate that, honestly. But to people like trying2moveahead that are spending all this time getting worked up over what I do... get a life man. I never said drinking was OK because I am in college. Infact I'm sure you do plently of things on a regular basis that I dont agree with. Perhaps you pick your nose in public, or you change lanes without using a blinker. Well guess what? I dont give a shit. Life your life. I'll live mine. oh and do me a favor... next time you see a post by me please skip. i dont want to ever have to write another response like this.
  10. When I first started using the propecia I shed some hairs on the side too. It didnt last long at all and the hair on my sides is still thick. I think its just part of the overall process. And I too had long shaggy hair for a long time. I recently buzzed my hair to a near-shaven level. I was really nervous about it, but after I did it I was glad. It was a huge weight off my shoulders. If nothing else, its a change. And change is good. After you do it, you'll realize that its just hair, and you'll accept the fact that it fell out... oh well. But continuing the propecia for a full year still couldnt hurt. Just remember that hair doesnt make you who you are.... you do.
  11. LOL. I'm in college, people, lighten up. I certainly dont plan to continue drinking like this when I graduate. I simply wanted to know if alcohol affects hair regrowth. I appreciate the concern though
  12. I know someone asked a while back if alcohol will affect propecia or rogaine results, but the question went unanswered. I'm a HEAVY drinker. I drink about 5 nights a week, and I usually drink about 10-15 beers a night. Think this affects anything?

  14. I'm 20 years old also. Ive had a very hard time dealing with hairloss. It isnt really noticeable now, but unless I regrow in the coming months it will be. I used rogaine 5% for about a month. It put me through a HEAVY shedding process. And I think it actually did start to work. Because now that I've stopped using it I'm seeing all these tiny little hairs fall out of my head (all over, not just the crown). I stopped using it because it was a horrible inconvience. And the dandruff I got from it was just nasty. So far the propecia is doing ok. I've been on it for 3 months. The shedding in the beginning was bad, but then it stopped for a while. Now I seem to be going through another shedding phase (either that or the hair I grew from rogaine is falling out). I cant really tell if I have regrown anything from the propecia yet. Hang in there
  15. so there is nothing that will regrow hair in the "top area" or hairline? will the propecia at least stop or slow down hairloss in these areas? i dont think a full crown will do much good if the rest of my head is bald
