A strong starting point is obviously crucial for the final result.
But I’ve seen enough screw ups for patients with a strong starting point in cheap hairmills.

hairs or follicle units?
Follicle unit just contains x number of hairs, what matters is hair count.
A good donor is above 100 hairs per cm2
-
Depends on the person, there are men who naturally born with a thin hair, like 80-90 hairs per cm2

i think 6k is needed to match density of crown and sides
so far op only seems to bald in in norwood 4 pattern, if he stays that way it will be all good.
medication probably is still advicable though
There is no need to match the density behind the HT, especially if the area going to thin out in the future.
even 50% of our natural density is more than enough.
I would agree with you if the patient was in his 30s and very stabilised for a few years.
The HT gonna be amazing that’s for sure, let’s hope he’s not gonna lose too much in the future.

I am no expert but spending 6K grafts for a 25 yo seems a lot.
Yes you gonna get almost the same as your natural density but what gonna happen 10-15 years from now? There is no guarantee even with finasteride or dutasteride

This is the worst hair transplant in history, but at least no donor damage and it can be fixed with no problems.
-
Maybe 2, but that’s not androgenic alopecia, this is just a mature hairline.
56 yo and his hair thick as hell.

Hi, yes I'm very aware of all the factors that take are taken in consideration. Here I was just curious as to what it might be given it looks to be really good density, the figure of 90 cm2 is very good, I like seeing higher density when/where it's appropriate to do. Thank you for the reply 🙏
I assume you guys talk about 90 hairs per square cm not grafts right?

Haha. Wel yeah, I mean if you can't see the difference, feel the difference, taste the difference then there is probably no difference (in their eyes 😂).
They actually can see the difference and the quality of your hand, but for some reason they believe it’s possible to get it in hairmills, and you can’t argue with them cause 99% of them do believe it.
As I told you I will save up to meet you soon, I know what quality is.
Keep up doc, and post more results if possible.

I am 51 and had a transplant 2 weeks ago. I tried finasteride 3 times about 10 years ago but had terrible side effects. I got really depressed and lost my libido. My hair got really thick so it was tough to stop but I valued my health more than my hair. The clinic said because Im 51 I dont need to take finasteride even though it would be ideal. They are going to give me topical minoxidil and PRP and said this will be ok. I will also take saw palmetto, Omega 3 and MSM. Will I likely regret not taking finasteride? Is there another option?
Honestly if you’re 51 you can skip finasteride

Thanks Maurizio. Didn't know facebook was a thing for hair transplant discussions. Good to know.
Yes, but most of them there are hairmills lovers and cheapskates, that’s why they ate their heart.
I think this guy you operated is called Harrison or something.
They honestly believe they can get such quality in hairmills 😂

You constantly keep calling other surgeon's out so it is only fair you get called out too. A lot of your patients are on medications. Anyone that knows anything about surgery knows that medications can take a mediocre results to good and good to great. So how about you start listing the medication regiment with all your superfluous statements about your skillset.
While the industry is filled with average and below average surgeons who you keep comparing yourself too, there are surgeons that are good and excellent who are putting out work similar or better than yours for years without any over the top boasting about their skills.
Just keeping it real my man.
Meds won’t improve the transplant area too much if at all.
Its mostly for maintaining the remaining hair.

Avoid hairmills!!!!

As other said, it’s mean confidence because you don’t try to hide it or fight it, but accept what nature gave you.
I think if a guy looks good with shaved head due to other features in his face, it’s best to embrace the hair loss.

To be fair I'm doing it more for what is there and to hopefully add to them. If it can play some part in atleast thickening the hairs, that would be good. Not really expecting any sort of Regrowth. Just want to maintain what is possible.
Yes I get it mate, but I think it’s a wake up call for other youngsters in their 20s to understand that starting 5ARI treatment as soon as possible is the key.

During hair system times, on and off which I guess made some impact but been on fin and now dutasteride religiously for over a year now since first sitting.
Well that’s the problem, committing religiously after you went full Norwood 6-7 is kinda pointless, I can understand if suffered sides or anything else, but fighting such aggressive androgenic alopecia without constant treatment of 5ARI is pointless.
Anyway I wish you luck whatever you achieved.
-
And all these years you didn’t used finasteride or dutasteride?

@Maorizio for my curiosity is there a reason to wait? Im fine other way but when researching online I couldnt find a clear answer
You gonna need to stop minoxidil prior the surgery and resume afterwards, so simply start afterwards.

Wait after the surgery

Everybody's natural cm² is about 80cm² ... I've heard it's not good to jam pack it that much on a hair transplant?
No dude, it depends on the person but natural density is about 100-140 per cm2.
70-80 is for guys which born with thin hair.
Anyway, 40-50 grafts per cm2 should be more than enough, as long as the native hair is about the same, otherwise it will look weird.
-
It’s not about grafts it’s about follicles.
A graft can contain 1-6 hairs.
So to your answer at least 70-80 hairs per cm2 will give a good looking buzzcut, but only if the native hair is also about the same density

But I will lose every gain if I’ll stop after 6 months, no?
You’ll lose gains if you have thinning areas which minoxidil recovered.
Your doc probably want it mostly for the HT follicles, minoxidil really help them at the beginning.
Who are the best alternatives in the UK/Turkey to Dr Laorwong?

I don’t think there is someone with Laorwong skill at his price range, 80 baht is something like 2 usd per graft.
And a friend of mine has booked with him early this year for June so I don’t think he’s fully booked for 2024, and even if he does it’s still worth waiting if your budget is tight.
