  1. Hussain, PLEASE, do not make the mistake of picking a surgeon, just because of distance.... I am not sure what your situation is, what Norwood level you are....but you would not go the closest Heart surgeon, just because of location, Would you?...(exaggerating, but making a point) HT is an ART, and you should see several doctors..and consult with several others (EVEN though, they are not within proximity)...some of the other BEST Doctors mentioned on this site, are much cheaper (My experience) that close doctors, so at the end....it more than offsets travel cost, and in many situations, added vacation... Do your research....on this site...narrow down your list, get consulattions, compare prices and go with the doctor that you feel most at ease with. P.S: II have Middle Eastern hair and chose a doctor (Dr. Jeffrey Epstein in Miami)who is very experienced with Latin and Middle Easterners.... Read my threads, look at other people's experiences and make your own judgement Best of Luck
  2. Neil I have not experienced Patches per say, but growth has not been uniform...in some areas, growth is much more than other areas, I belive it is still too early to judge, we are at the 4 months staghe and NOW is the time that tings will start happening....although so far, improvement in my case have been greatly measured......If you do not mind..post pictures of a close up of the hairline
  3. Neil, I had already replied to your post. Great and amazing progress.. you shpould be a happy camper with the progress on the Donor area. It looks great. I am progressing pretty well, hairline developing nicely...Can't tell where the scar is and just looking for more density, we should start picking up by now... I will add more pictures as I update them
  4. Neil Congratulations.... It seems you are healing very well, and the pictures look wonderful. There is a day and night difference in teh scarring picture and Dr. Epstein has done a wonderful job on your scarring. I have been cutting at number 5 as well, and I cannot even tell that there was anything done...neither in the recipient not the donor area...my in-laws say that if they had not known, they could not tell I had anything done. ANd I already look much younger. The haurline is developing and it is a nice feeling. Looking forward for more posts from you
  5. Did you guys knoiw that Dr. Epstein opened up and office in NYC?
  6. Hey Paris, Dr. Epstein opened up an office in NYC...in you rneck of the wood
  7. Just got an email that Dr. Epstein opened up an office in NYC
  8. Paris_Caine How you doing? you just crossed my mind. This weekend I will be posting 3 months pictures...so far it is looking very good, and started experiencing some growth, best of all, NO ONE knows I had a HT done.... that is the best part of it all (In fact, no one noticed a week after the operations)
  9. This website is great for research and you can benefit a lot from other people's experiences..just donot let geography determine your choice (Not to pre-judge Dr. Konior as I absolutely do not know much about him)
  10. Gethair I am 3 months post op with Dr. Epstein I did the research for over 4 years and basically, I narrowed down my choices to 2 doctors: Epstein and Shapiro, I had a consulation with both and ended up going to Miami. BOTH doctors are top notch and I am sure you will be in safe hands with either one. I am not sure about the 3rd doctor (Have not heard of him before). The most important thing is that you have a consulation with the Doctor, see what he recommends, cost (Epstein and Shapiro are similar in cost)and base your decision on who answered you questions and concerns better and who you felt more comfortable with. You can do a search under my name and you will read about my experience with Dr. Epstein who I speak very highly of given my experience. I have posted lots of picture sas well but need to update them with 3 months pictures, scar is undetectable, hairline is the same (One week post op, and No ONE could tell I had a HT) Best of luck in you r serach and yuir are on the right track in your choices.
  11. Hey Neil I have several hairs popping out...it is exciting. I can tell these are new hairs they are thicker and never had them before. I will try to take coupel of pictures and post them. Good luck and will write again soon
  12. Neil I know it has been a while since we posted. How is it going? How is the growth?
  13. Hey Neil Happy to hear from you and know you are doing fine. Nothing new here...coping with the cold weather. Boy, I did not notice the Big head in the picture I posted before...I will try to resize any new pics I post... as far as the hair, i have seen some hirs popping out....Nothing to speak of...but I think I am seeing some growth...Before the transplant I promised my wife not to get fanatic and start counting and celebrate every hair..So aI am keeping it cool. I had some problems with pimples last week, I had about 10 of them....and I tell...so far they have been the most annoying part of the transplant experience...Popped a few of them and washed my head afterwards...and apllied rubbing alcohol and neosporin. I always hated pimples...but that is a sign that growth is starting. Neil, Glad to know that the back is filling in. To tell you the truth, I do not feel or see any type of scar...I do not even know it exists....For a long time before the transplant, I was debating wther I should go with a FUE rather than strip but I am happy that I went with the strip (With the RIGT doctor, s trip yields better results, better survival, and more hairs and less trensection of the follicules) My old hair in the front (Rather the little that was left)grew back after Dr. E trimmed it for the procedure....So besides teh shedding of the tranplanted hair..I have not experienced ny shock loss, anywhere....depends on the person and the procedure...some people experience it some don't. Some experience it with one procedure and notthe other. Once I start seeing some meaningful growth, i will post more pictures and update the gallery I posted right after the HT.
  14. By the way... Is teh shock loss around the new scar or even around the older ones
  15. Hey Neil Hope you're doing fine. I saw the pictures you posted. And to tell you the truth, from all the research I have on Hair transplant, Hair loss in teh donor site is the least topic I researched. But it seems that it is very dependant on each person's recation and healing. Would be very interested to see What Dr.. E says. I have not had shock loss in the donor area and the scar is barely visible, although the transplanted hair have almost all fell out, with the exception of I would say 15%. Happy healing and hope everything works out for the best. Keep us posted with your results.
  16. Paris, Not much has changed since. I notice couple of black spots were the hair is coming out. AHd 5-6 pimple, Now I look pretty much the same as I did before the HT....sad to see the little ones leave me, but Oh well cannot wait until the new ones fill in the void.
  17. Telephone man From my long Long research (3 yrs now), I lerned that the lower part of the back head does not heal that well, and the skin stretches more in that area, so the higher the scar, the less risk of stretching (Not guaranteed, but that is the nature of Scalp tissue). Common sense, tilt your head down and you will see that the lower part of your head and skin stretches. Paris, I will post more pictures, once I really have something to show for, I still look pretty much the same as teh last picture I posted. Neil, Glad you're doing fine. happy healing and keep us posted.
  18. hey Neil glad to hear things are working ut for you. I am sure you will be happier now. In the back of myhead, soreness was present for the first 2 weeks but after that, I do not even feel a scar exists in that area. Over the last 2 days, the hat head has been filling in nicely and blending with the rest of the hair, as the hair shaved in the donor area is growing in to blend with the rest. How has been other's response to your HT, I know it is too early, but when people see me, and they know I had a HT, they say that they would have never known, even at 3 weeks , yahoooooooo
  19. Hair27 One word of advice, i was in yo9ur shoes until about 3 weeks ago. Do your research and due diligence and go for the best, and do not let geographic location determines which Dr. performs on you. (This is not a reflection on Dr. Edwin Epstein, AS I DO NOT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT HIM, although I am sure if you do a search on his name you might find info. Think about the whole cost of the procedure, if you add couple hundereds for an airline ticket and hotel, it is negligeable. You will find in the end that most of the doctors Jacob mentioned might even be cheaper.
  20. Hello Neil, Paris Did I tell you guys I had my first haircut. I told the lady I had a hair transplant and she was very impressed with the scar (Although she was rough in combing to locate it) I decided not to go down to a #3 or #4 at this time, just to be on the safe side. I belive she used a #5 (a nice short hair look). You cannot see the scar, although there is a little had head, UNDER THE SCAR, and that is due to the longer hair from the top covering the donor area shaved by Dr. E. I was able to notice it, but my wife said you cannot even tell, except you are looking carefully and know the HT procedure. So far I have shed much more than in the first 18 days (I must have shed half of what was transplanted, but the remaining hair still frames my face, so I am using Toppik to portray to the look of dense hair (That stuff is good, if you do not put too much, otherwise, it looks powdery, but if you sprinkle a little, it looks denser. (So far, no one at work mentioned a thing and my extended family (they all know)have said that you cannot even tell. So Paris, i know you were worried on how you would look 3 weeks post op (well now and after 3 weeks post op, there is nothing on my head that shows I had a HT.
  21. Glad we can be of a help. In HT, one can easily do mistakes and end up regretting. You are doing fine though, you are doing the right research. It took me about 7 years of actual research and meeting HT doctors, until I finally was comfortable with the advancement in the industry, to pull the trigger. Neil, I understand where Dr. E is coming from. As a HT surgeon, he cannot give guarantees as to what a transplant would look like, as people heal differently. As far as buzzing in the front, I belive we can short, there, as the scalp looks very indistinguishable from regular scalp. Hopefully we can go down as low as #2 in the back, and for you, I hope that the scar repair would have taken care of the old ones. I am not interested in the future of cutting my hair so short, like a #2, because I believe that beats the purpose of the HT, I will probably do it right now, to allow all the hair to grow at the same rate.
  22. Paris, You can contact Roxy and she can probably send you pictures not posted on their website. But the best thing is finding people like us, who underwent the procedure. Neil, As far as "Buzzing" and I believe that is the correct American word, , this weekend, i will probably go down to #4, which is 1/2 inch in the back of my head, I did not discuss that with dr. E at the time, I was very nervous with scars (from all the pictures of old scars i have seen) but now I feel pretty comfortable, I Even have a hard time locating it, so when it heals, it will probably be more so. On his literature, Dr. Epstein said that you can go down to a #2 or #3 (but I am assuming that is for a Virgin Scalp) but you can send him an email and he will be able to answer your question. I will probably post pictures after the haircut
  23. paris Here is a 19 day pic. I still retained a lot of hair, although 2 days ago, in the shower, I had some shedding. Picture was post shedding
