  1. Hey Dewayne I love this topic and thanks for posting it!!! It should be interesting!!! Let me just ask you one ???? Did you finance or did you pay cash? Let me tell you what I paid and the amount of grafts I got $7900.00 for 2953 grafts with a haircount of 5578 total new hairs. I paid $2.68 per graft with a world class ht Doc.

The way I look at it is that I can come close to having 2 hts at the price of one ht. Cash does that and I would like to know what financing will get you for a deal

  2. IF YOU GOT THE DOUGH YOU GOT THE GROW!!! Say you are a young single guy credit score 650 and are paying off your school loans and you just financed your beautiful new car and paying rent in Boston at crazy prices and you are making 35k per year at an entry level job. This was my case back in the hay day and boy I wanted an ht bad. I sucked it up and saved my $$$$ and waited to see how my future hairloss was going. If I did the 1st procedure in my early days I would of had a nice little gap in the mid frontal area of my head and would of been like I need another ht with another finance!!!

my next ??? to myself would of been I should of just shaved my head for awhile and sucked it up and built on my character of strength for my inner man. I did understand the look good feel good more $$$$$ error since I am in Real Estate' Looks can go far in this business. Plans are what direct our paths and I decided on a harder road in my early days, but looked to the future at my late 30s and why not just pay cash and work a better deal with a doc.

I hate debt and its bondage!!! My grandfather once said if you dont have the cash dont buy it,because back in his day there where no credit cards lol.. I would also like to hear from guys out there how the majority are paying for there ht procedures and what your making per year(not to be to personal, but to get an accurate assumption for the guys who have to finance)

  3. Raf How old are you? I did not even ask you that question? I was 31 years old when I started to loose my hair and I waited for technology to get better and save $$$$ so I had no debt for this procedure. Last detail I wanted to wait and see how my hairloss was going go out and figured I would wait until my late 30s and I would then have a better Idea of what I needed to do and did not take meds which I wish I did.

I went to Bosley at age 34 years old just for a consult and they scared me with no real confidance of getting my hair in what I wanted and they did give me good advice that there was still a good chance of way more loss. Then they said they would still do it if I wanted to and the cost would be $25k. I left that office and never looked back Bro!!! I said I will take there one piece of seemingly good advice and hold out for another 5 years to see how my loss goes and I would think technology will be better.

Then When I started doing my research last year came upon this site and got the ht done with a doc that said you are a good candidate and you will be very pleased with the results. Thats the confidance I was looking for,but I did a ton of research on the man!!!! lol, I can still be skeptical that docs just look at the dough right!!!

  4. Hey raf, I got your message I just been hitting the books. So Dr. E said to wait? Did he give you the proscar script? Big money saver compared to Merk Propecia. So I was a little confused from your post and voicemail? Your hair is growing in different directions from the front. I have never heard of this???

You seem like from your pics that you would be a good candidate for an ht. But then again im not a doc. If i was you I would listen to Dr. E, but I would test the waters with some other good docs and see what they say. Take all your info from all the doctors reccomondations. Then you will be able to tell who is right and who is wrong. If I had to consult with other docs it would be Hasson and wong or Feller. See what they say??? But then again hasson & wong are in Canada and feller is in New York. Raf you want to get a live visit not pics through the internet to these docs. Obviously Dr. Epstein saw something and thats a good sign that he declined you. Shows he not about the $$$$...

So be careful on who you talk to and make sure you pick a good doc and ask the guys over the site for past hearsay. This site is good and the guys will protect you including myself.

  5. There are alot of factors which will come into play for bleachcola. If he does decide to take a credit card debt? Will he be able to pay the financing if he is able to get 1 year with no interest. If he is not able he will be paying off the interest after that year and that is costly. How is this guys credit and what type of interest will he recieve from a credit card company. Never apply for a cosmetic credit card because the interest is crazy. Maybe he can wait and save 1/2 the $$$ to put down. I always dont reccomend going in at 100% financing. I just bought a brand New Mazda 2008 and paid half of my loan off and my goal is to pay the other half by september to be debt free. I think of debt as bondage!!! But as you say there is good debt,so take care of business and have a plan to get rid of bondage as soon as possible if you have the income and resources.

If this is a young guy and he is still in school or something or he is thinking about using some of his under grad $$$$, Then my postion for him is wait . I am a Real EstateBroker and I see peoples credit everyday and we do live in a world of unrealistic expectations for the average person.

  6. I was thinking very deeply before my 1st procedure on Fut Vs Fue.. The undisputed champion of the world is Fut for the yield I wanted. Im thinking of fut for my 2nd procedure for the touchup work if it is even needed. I dont think Fue would of pleased me at this stage of the game in technology. Hopefully soon there will be a better risk with fue

  7. I used the same shampoo, I started rubbing it in very lightly at 1 week. You should be fine. The grafted new hairs are intact at about 7 to 10 days. Remember very lightly with the rub. This will also help the scabs from coming off . I was very careful with a light rub for about a month post-op. You can also stop using the cup now. Just put your water pressure on light. congrats with your new hair.

  8. I cant really get a good look at your head from that shot. But I was norwood 3 or a norwood 4 with frontal loss mostly. I am 39 years old and I did not get on the meds until 4 months ago. I would try the meds 1st and see how they work for you. Then I would in your case get a long term plan and go with a mega session with frontal hairline and mid top and hope the meds where going to work in the crown area. I would say at least 2 surgeries as my case also.

I think the plan is a big part of how you are going to achieve the results and satisfaction on your 1st ht. As I my case I am waiting atleast 1 year to see my full results and if I think I need a little more then we will do the touchup phase. Can you post some better pics?

  9. No Im sure thats not the case. How are your negotiating skills? Plus I went in feb and they told me that was the slower season and if I wanted to do it later it would be more (around your price line) So I took the discount days and booked right away. Are you going to his New York Ofiice? I also was 99% sure just from talking to him from my phone and sending him pics so that he could see my norwood scale and what approach he was thinking? His approach was exactly what I was thinking and I knew he was doing it without even meeting him,but I did want to meet him in person so he could see my lax area and density quality in person. He got me about 90% per cm which is really good. Dakota you really need to feel comfortable with a doctor who will give you real expectations so you wont walk out dissapointed. Do you have pics up so I can see your situation. Remember this was my 1st ht and I have never had any repair work done. I think you would be in good hands and maybe they charge a little more on repair work than a guy who is going in for his 1st ht. HERE IS A QUESTION FOR THE MEN OF THE SITE. DO DOCS CHARGE MORE FOR REPAIR WORK?

  10. Hey Dakota, I flew to his office in Miami because he gives a better deal and all of his techs are there. I also did my ht Feb 7th 2008 which is the slower season for him and he gave me a good deal of $3.30 per graft. I was expected to get 2300 grafts and around 100 free grafts in total of 2400. Then any graft over the 100 free grafts was going to be $2 per graft. 1ST I did not waste the mans time or energy. I liked his website and saw all his great reviews and decided from chatting with him for a little while and doing alot of research that he was the doc for me. He actually gave me 653 free grafts, because he pulled out extra and we talked about a 2nd surgery for touchups in the future. So he looked at it from a business prospective and that I paid him cash lol!!! Each Doc is different on there prices and Dr. E has one of the best per graft prices out there with quality work. I did not get to meet any of his patients. Ask him if there are any of his patients in your area and he told me he had guys all around New England and Im outside South of Boston, but never asked to meet with a patient. I was pretty confident in him because he is a straight shooter. That really proved it to me when he told me 2400 grafts and then got 2953 grafts. He will go lower not to get your hopes up and if he is able he will pull out a rabbit out of a magic hat.

  11. Yeah Dr. E does seem to go lower with grafts but he looks at the more practical side, but not as conservative as some other docs. He is in the middle. He told me 2300 to 2400 grafts, but pulled out 2953. So it goes to show you about him that he will go lower not to get your hopes up to high and then gives a joy shocker at least to me. He does go a little higher on the donor scar compared to others but thats the safe zone and you as dr.E states that the hairs are nice there lol. Im just in the waiting stage im almost at the 2 month stage with no shockloss and I pretty much still have almost all my new hts still in place. I guess its rare, but the doc said thats not bad either.

  12. Dakota im pretty good!!! I had the dissolvable sutures and the scar seems to be good. I read that people had numbness on there donor area for awhile. I had all my senses back in just about 10 days. The scar takes awhile to heal, but no complaints. I see you are from New Hampshire. Did Dr. E let you meet one of his patients?

  13. These guys are giving great advice to you!!! Loosing your hair is a weakness but you can also build it into a great strength (Thats Character)

But now wisdom is trying to knock at your door!! Sure get the Ht and finance and struggle with payments on the ht, Or wait a little while and save your $$$$ and set goals on how you are going to save.

My friend I was in your shoes and when I was checking out about 5 years ago in financing the interest rate for cosmetic surgery was at least 21% Thats high if you are going to go out and spend $5000 to $10,000. So I took wisdom and saved and waited to see how my hairloss was going to be in the future. I actually saved close to 20k and then I was having a hard time departing with 10k of this going to an Ht.

Well to make a long story short I did the ht and I negotiated the ht to $7900 for 3000 grafts my 1st ht. I waited 5 years to see what my hair did and got on the meds 1st to see if I would have any results without going through with an ht.

Well the meds worked great and I had a better Idea and less cost. If you can wait and save and struggle through the feelings of loosing your hair for a little while (you will be better off for your finances for the future) 2nd option wait atleast 1 year and get on the meds right away and save as much as you can to put down on the ht. How old are you and what norwood stage are you at?

  14. Hey Dewayne I have the dissolvable suctures and I am 40 days post-op. My wife says that they have been falling out. Its so hard to see the back of your head man. I just cant see it for myself. Dewayne Its funny that you posted this question because I was going to ask the same on a new thread. So lets just jump the bandwagon. I would also like to know since the dissolvable suctures are in your head longer than staples will this cause stretching and whats the healing process like. I cant tell because its only 40 days.I believe my doc said it could take up to 3 months for the suctures to dissole. Does that sound right? My wife says mine are almost all gone now.
