Are there any circusmtances when Dr. Feller does not require shaving of the recipient area? I am looking for a HT of somewhere in the mid 2000 grafts (2 estimates 2100 & 2800). If there are no exceptions to this equirement that is fine since he is obviously a superb surgeon whoseems to obtain consistently excellent results.

OK, I met with a Bosley and coalition Member. The cost of both seemed higher than what has been discussed on this forum. Bosley's consultant said that I need 2100 grafts while the coalition MD advised 2700-2900. I understand that the results would probably vary a fair amount but I need to make sure that I obtain the correct # while meeting realistic expectations. Does anyone have first hand knowledge what range Dr True's fees are for approximately 2500-3000 grafts? If it's too expensive for me, I will not bother to schedule a consult & just continue with the meds for the time being. I budgeted between $7000-9000 but the quotes I received take me out of my comfort zone.

Which MD performed your surgery?

I consulted with Bosley at a satellite office outside of NYC. I was told that most people just decide to do it and schedule a HT w/o seeing the MDs. I was also told that they had two surgeons who were excellent and experienced. Maybe the above is accurate but I am not trusting my scalp to an unknown entity. At the time of my consult, I found this board and will meet with two coalition MDs in the near future. One more thing about mega marketing HT Centers; they have very high overhead. The quote per graft was significantly higher than the fees of the highly regarded and proven coalition MDs. Another thing; how long do the Bosley MDs stay with them? I bet there is a decent amount of turnover.

What about a compromise of cutting hair short but not shaved all the way? Would this make it easier for the surgeon and decrease shock loss? I wonder what Dr.s Epstein or True believe since both do not require shaving? Guess I will ask when I make an appt for a consult.

I plan to cosnult with Epstein and True next month. I am most likely planning to go with one or the other. I have to rule out Feller becasue I am unable to shave the recipient area. I will make my decision on who to proceed with following my consults. Any idea what I could expect to pay for a 2000-2500 graft session with either True or Epstein?

Would you recommend having an HT with Epstein in Miami or NYC? NYC is more convenient for me but I know he works there limited days. Several pros an cons from a novice: Post op visit/suture removal might be important Cost may be less in NYC Facilities in Miami might be better

Does Epstein require you to shave the receipient site? If not, how short should you cut hair prior to srgery? I believe True and Bernstein do not require shaving.

Bernstein fees seem a bit costly compared to what I heard Feller and Epstein charge. Any idea where True fits into the cost range?
