  1. I feel I have to state this for people who may be reading this but there are many doctors who can produce a far better result with the use of 4.400 grafts. The survival rate does not look great. It's ok-ish (probably a bit better if hair are left to grow) but it's not great. I really don't like the fact that Yaman uses these big number of grafts with mediocre results.

Good luck in the next steps of your journey!

  2. This is a very interesting thread. Apologies for slightly derailing it to ask for a suggestion!

I consider both donor maintenance and strategic use of grafts/efficient coverage among the most crucial parameters in choosing a surgeon. Unfortunately, I do not have the means to go for a 9 eur/gr surgery with Zarev which I think would be the best option for preserving my  donor (I am a NW 3A-4 and my donor capacity has been estimated at around 8k grafts).

That being said, I still want to minimise trauma so I can still retain the maximum donor area capacity I can and possibly go with either Zarev or some other innovative surgeon in the future, who can extract more grafts than conventional surgeons.

I am wondering if anyone has any views on the extractions/punches and subsequent trauma that Pekiner, Gur, Turan, and Freitas perform and cause, which are currently the options I am considering (I also have a schedule consultation with Couto for 2025 but this will take longer) and who among those you think may be the best option focusing just on extractions/trauma? Or, otherwise put, who among those is the best to minimise the grafts lost for someone like Zarev or future Zarev disciples to operate on me some years down the line?

Dr. Sethi is certainly a reputable doctor known for achieving good, natural-looking results. If you're exploring other options, here's a list of doctors categorized by their approximate pricing per graft:

    2-3 euros per graft:

    - HDC clinic

    - Dr. Laorwong

    - Dr. Pekiner

    - Dr. Custodio

    - Dr. Bicer

    - Dr. Saifi

    - Dr. Ximena Villa

    - Dr. Heinicke

    - Dr. Nader

    - Dr. Camacho

    - Dr. Keser

    - Dr. Pathomvanic

    3-5 euros per graft:

    - Dr. De Freitas

    - Dr. Pinto

    - Dr. De Ferreira

    - Dr. Pittela

    - Dr. Couto

    - Dr. Bisanga

    - Dr. Mwamba

    - Dr. Lupanzula

    - Hattingen Clinic

    - Dr. Nadimi

    Above 5 euros per graft:

    - Dr. Munib Ahmad

    - Dr. Zarev

    - Dr. Shapiro

    - Dr. Konior

    - Dr. Feriduni

There are other reputable doctors not included in this list due to lack of pricing information or i might not have sufficient knowledge about them so It's better to conduct your own research or seek opinions from other individuals regarding that.

View this list as a starting point for identifying skilled surgeons in different price ranges for consultation purposes.

I hope this helps you. Good Luck.

If I am not terribly mistaken and just for future reference for people who may be reading this in the future, my understanding is that Kesser is 3.5eur/gr and Nader around 3.5 too (depending on the number of grafts though) and so they should be in the second category.

Freitas on the other hand, is just below 3 eur/gr so should probably be in the first one.

I reached out to the clinic today. They recommended I stop oral minoxidil and switch to topical minoxidil 1x/ day at nighttime. I will follow the clinic's directions but it does not inspire hope.

I'm 1 week away from 5 months and I look significantly worse than pre-transplant still. I'm trying not to panic but I haven't seen anyone with results like mine at almost 5 months. I'm trying to grow whatever native hair I have left out to cover things up but I have a feeling some of the native hair didn't survive the transplant from the way things look. Usually people see some sort of positives by now. I don't even have a complete hairline and look worse than most people pre-op.

If anyone has any examples of anyone as bad as me as 5 months that turned things around, I could really use some hope now. I am assuming I am a failed transplant at this point but i'll continue to update for the good of the journaling. ( plus journaling helps let some stress out )

Not at all man. We can't all have the same views. As you said, due to my level of baldness, I would have to have like 4/5 surgeries before I get full coverage, which is just not practical for me (being in Australia). But, I do appreciate your input, and that is what this forum is all about.

Will do a write up post-HT

    Thanks  :)

You are kind, thanks (4-5 might be a bit of stretch, don't be so pessimistic, 3 are usually fine for even the highest cases!)

    Again very best of luck!

  6. Maybe Dr P is too harsh and they just applied some rule of thumb regarding (specifically young?) diffused thinners. If you feel your hair loss has been halted by meds, I think most surgeons would take up your case. Definitely do some more consultations. Just be conservative with HT and the number of grafts, as you are still quite young.

You may also consult a dermatologist to assess the current state of your hair. Switching to dutasteride may also be an option.
