  1. I will try Nizoral like I said to LaserCaps and if that doesn't help, then I will definitely consult a dermatologist.
  2. I spoke to my physician a few weeks ago. He didn't want to me to go to a dermatologist, as he thought he could help without them, and recommended salicylic acid for the sebderm, which is what I tried first, but it didn't do much for me. Went ahead and bought Nizoral from Amazon after that and it seems like it's working, but it's too early to tell. Anyway...after that, he asked me if I still want Finasteride and I said yes. For some reason, he decided to prescribe the 5mg one instead of the 1mg. So I will have to use a splitter to get the right dosage. So it is the pill form I will use.
  3. Hey guys. Is it a good idea to get on finasteride if you have sebderm? I unfortunately have not been able to get my sebderm under control and was wondering if the sebderm could possibly deny the new hairs from growing after shedding phase?
  4. Yep, this is what I'll go for. Will of course discuss it with my doctor as well. I suppose you're right. It did make me nervous about taking it a while ago when I first started reading about it, but it's like you said, no different from any other prescription med. I will definitely give it a go. I just hope my doctor will prescribe it and not go all "you're fine, you don't need it". Thank you for your response!
  5. Hello friends! Been lurking on this website for a few months now and decided it was to create an account. I've been losing my hair slowly for a few years now. At first, it was barely noticeable to me and so I thought nothing of it, but in the last couple of months, I've started to notice it more and more and now others have for the first time as well. That's why I intend to start using finasteride. I have an appointment with a doctor in march in which the doctor will check if I have regular dandruff or seborrheic dermatitis (feels like it's dermatitis as I have flakes on my face as well) and some other stuff, but I will also mention hair loss and that I want to start using finasteride. I'm not particularly worried about any of the side effects except for the shedding part. I assume every person sheds different amounts of hair, but how much shedding can I expect? When does the shedding start and how long does it last? Should I use topical minoxidil as well and if so, how long after starting finasteride should I start using minoxidil? If I do happen to get some side effects, should I just quit instantly or should I try a 0.25 or 0.5mg every Monday Wednesday and Friday? Should I do certain tests before I start using finasteride? I want to try everything in order to avoid doing a HT, however it does feel like I'm headed in that direction. And since I've mentioned a HT, I might as well ask this as well (apologies if it isn't allowed in this forum)...would an ethical surgeon (I have a few names on my list, should I need a HT) go through with a HT if the patient has dermatitis? I imagine it would be pretty embarrassing sitting in the chair while they cut your hair and have it "snow" from your head. Anyway, it feels like I've written too much now so I'll end it here.
