  1. I just had my one year follow up exam at Shapiro Medical group for my second surgery with Dr. Paul Shapiro. You can link to my photo album for my first surgery at: http://hair-restoration-info.c...701052873#3701052873 I am very pleased with the results. I get lots of compliments and people asking me why I look so young. I will be 65 years old next week. My total graft and hair count for the two surgeries are as follows: 6076 Grafts, with 403 grafts being DFU's If I double the DFU's I had the equivalent of a 6479 FU graft procedure. The total hair count was calculated to be 14,883 hairs.
  2. Thanks for all the positive comments. A lot of my friends are saying I look younger. Dr. Paul did my hairline during the first surgery. For the second surgery he did bring out my temporal corners in both sides a bit to help frame my face a bit more. But he did not do any other hairline work in the second surgery. He did add some density behind the hair line and in the central core area, but focused more on the back of the scalp and crown area
  3. I am 6 months out from my second surgery with Dr. Paul Shapiro. You can link to my photo album for my first surgery at:http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/showthread.php?t=154042 The goal of my second surgery was to bring down the temporal angles just a bit, to cover the crown and to get more density in the area of the top of my crown/ the back 2/3 of my scalp. In my second session Dr. Paul got 2761 FU's., 5820 hairs, He could not get as much as my first session because my scalp did tighten up a bit. I did not do any stretching exercise to loosen my scalp but now I wish I had done them. I am very happy with my results. As you can see the density in the top of my crown looks great and my crown is filling in. It is only 6 months and I expect to see more crown growth. Also, Dr. Paul told me that in his experience crown results take longer then 12 months, more like 14 to 16 months. My total hair count for the two surgeries is: 6076 Grafts (5,672 FU/403 DFU) ??“ 9,063 Hairs 2761 FU's ??“ 5,820 Hiars Total Grafts, 6,076 Total Hairs, 14,883
  4. Bill I am planning on getting my crown done. The surgery is scheduled Oct. 30th and I will keep the forum updated on the surgery. Sorry I missed the party. I heard it was great the view was spectacular. Baxter
  5. Janna added a video of my trichopytic closure to my post op post. I had the great opportunity of being one of the patients at the Live Patient Viewing at the recent International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery meeting for Dr. Shapiro. In all honesty, most of the HT physicians had a difficult time finding my donor scar. Below is my one year post op post with the video. Thank you Janna for posting this video I am not of the You Tube, Photobucket generation. One year post op with video

  7. Here are some one year photos from my transplant by Dr. Paul Shapiro. I have added them to my previous photos in my photo album at the link below. I am going for my second surgery the end of Oct. I will keep you all posted after my second surgery.

  9. Thanks for the positive comments. I have thought of dying my beard but I guess I am too lazy. Baxter
  10. Here is my 12 month FU. As you can see I decided to part my hair on the opposite side. It had been so long since I had hair I did not remember what side of my head I parted my hair on. Jana did take some videos of my donor area, and I will try to figure out a way to post them, or have Jana do it for me. I do plan to have a second surgery at the end of October. I would like more coverage on my crown and bring the temperal anlges down a bit if possible. Dr. Paul thinks he can get another 3,000 + because I have a good donor and good laxity. It has been 8 months since my transplant and I am very pleased. At 62 my goal was to somewhat reverse the aging process, but keep a mature look. The hair looks very natural and considering my big head ( I wear a 7 6/8 hat) I got great coverage. I have included some photos of before and after at 8 months and a few of the donor scar. Graft Count 1 Hair FU 442 2 Hair FU 1180 3 Hair FU 914 4 Hair FU 376 4-6 Hair DFU 403 Total Grafts 3315 Total FU equiv. 3718 Total Hair 9063 (To get my total FU number Dr. Paul doubled the DFU number since there are 2 FU's in each DFU, or double follicular unit) (To calculate the total hair number Dr Paul used the average of 5 hairs in each DFU) Here is a link to my first photo album http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/showthread.php?t=149925
  11. Hi I just wanted to update my photo album. I went into SMG to get a haircut with Pamela. It was 4 months and 12 days since my surgery. I have seen a lot of growth which I am very happy with the results so far. Dr. Paul said that not everyone sees so much growth at 4 months so I guess I am lucky. Matt took some photos so I can update the photo album. Here they are.
  12. dmoor I had a hair transplant with Dr. Paul Shapiro a little over two months ago. And I would recommend him highly to anyone who is thinking of a hair transplant. The Hair Transplant from beginning to end was a great experience. Dr. Paul spent ample time explaining to me the procedure and the risk and benefits. I am a type 6 and had a large area to cover. See my previous post for photos. I decided to go for a large procedure of 4,000 FU. I am 63 and my donor site is a bit tight which Dr. Paul said he often sees in older patients. I do remember Dr. Paul letting me know that the risk of a larger scar was possible with large donor strip removal. So at least with me he was clear about the risk involved in the surgery. I still opeted for the larger session because I have such a large head and wanted as much hair as possible. I know my situation is very different from Tom R and I am not sure if it comparable. I left town the day after surgery for a week long meeting. And when I returned from my trip (7 days post op) no one noticed I had a transplant. The scabbing had all cleared up and the transplanted hair looked completely natural. As warned my little transplanted hair did fall out but I can feel it growing back in. As for my donor site, it is healing fine. I have to look hard to see that it is even there. When I go for my 6 month follow up I will post more photos. This is just my experience and I know it is one of many, but I did want you to know about my positive experience with Dr. Paul and I would highly recommend him to anyone considering hair transplant surgery.
  13. Bill Thanks for moving the photos to the album section. That is what I tried to do but somehow it ended up somewhere else.
  14. I just had my first HT at age 62 with Dr. Paul Shapiro. I placed my comments in the discussion group and will try to attach this photo album. I am not very good on the internet so here it goes.
