  1. I tried fin and had bad sides after the first week so I quit it. A year later I tried it again but instead I take 0.5mg (half pill) with the occasional full (1mg) pill and haven't noticed any sides for a month or so now. I would def try to hop on it and see what it can do for you. Worst case - I think that you could do 2500 grafts and distribute them lightly across front half of your scalp (w/ a very conservative hairline) in order to provide some level of coverage in the front. I don't think you will ever get back anywhere near the density you'd consider to be optimal or like it was in your teens. But to have a little to comb over may be of interest to you.

  2. Sort of late to the party here and I didn't read through every comment. I do however understand the overall message and the opinions etc etc. Quick question - OP said that the doctor is in the USA did he mention who the doctor is or what state/city he got the procedure done in?

I hope the best for OP. Perhaps it all turns out fine and the density isn't good but it's better than before and that can bring him peace.

  3. Hello,

I am relatively new here and have found this website to be super helpful in answering all of my questions I had regarding HT procedures. I plan to get an HT performed on myself in 2023 and currently doing some research and determining a short list of surgeons (manual FUE). I attached a photo below of my current condition in case there are any comments or advice at all.

Mainly I have two questions that I have struggled to find on this website so far.

    1) Does the recommended punch size vary based on coarse/fine hair? I have fine hair and I'd like to know what sorts of experiences others have had with similar hair shaft diameter and if they were pleased with their results / surgeons choice of punch size

    2) I notice that some post op photos look like they simply implanted hairs directly into the scalp and there's zero blood or white dots on top of each implanted graft and everything is clean. Other photos show the post op scalp and it looks like a war zone. Blood smears on and around the scalp, the grafts have white dots on each one providing an even odder appearance (I understand this is likely normal for the graft itself to look that way), etc.  I just wonder how it's even possible for the end results to look so drastically different.

Sorry for the lengthy and somewhat incoherent explanation of my last question.

Also, what are your thoughts on the work shown on the two scalps below? These are people I know who both went to the same surgeon.

  4. Thanks for the responses! The general consensus seems to be 2000-2500. I have a small head and would be totally pleased with a conservative NW2.5 result and also not concerned about great density. Listen- I’m basically completely bald up front and have been like that for a decade. If I can have even some hair in the front and mid section then I would feel like I’m winning. If I lose the back part of my head as well then in 10 years I’ll ask them to lightly cover the back and perhaps perform touch ups on the front to achieve my goals at that time being.

  5. Hey thanks again for the follow up. I kind of got the same feeling as you describe during my consultation.. not that it was shady (the consultation guy is cool/nice and helpful) but there definitely was a sort of less than ideal vibe. When you're going some place to have an HT done you want the atmosphere to be slightly less gloomy feeling. I pretty much wrote it off to it being a low overhead situation (the cost is 4-6k less than other places that probably spend more on receptionists and aesthetics). Yeah if you'd be so considerate to post photos that'd be great. Ideally post op and some of your progress along the way however just anything additional helps. Thank again.

  6. @kk23 thanks so much for the update and prompt response! Much appreciated considering that you are one of the only guys on here that has gone to this particular doctor. I do have a couple questions for you hopefully you can answer:

You mention that you wouldn’t go back to him. Why is that? And where would you go instead?

I mentioned I was surprised he did 3k grafts in a day because he said to me he would only do up to a maximum of 2k. Did he give you a final hair count?

what was the graft distribution? How many on your crown? / how many on your mid scalp and front?

    could you provide updated photos?

    thank you!

  7. I could start another thread… I haven’t been doing this whole posting thing for long at all so apologize if not following the normal process. I honestly don’t know what other thread title I would start though that would be more applicable to this particular surgeon. I feel like the OP would welcome any and all convos regarding this surgeon onto his thread.

I agree 100% with you that it is super odd that not one person would choose to post their journey here from this particular doctor. If I did end up going to this doctor I would track my progress here for others to see just in case.

  8. Hey there, I already had the consultation and then waited like a month and then finally made the appointment because they were booking up fast. I have a wedding at the end of august I want to look good for. I'll be honest, at 8000 dollars and proof that the doctor has been doing 3-5 a week for the last 25 years I figured I would give it a go. It is frustrating that people would start a post and not finish it.

I feel like the OP 6 month results looked decent. Also, he didn't appear to have the greatest hair thickness / skin contrast as well as a prior transplant from back in the day.. All those factors and it still looks pretty decent. I've been told from multiple places that I'm a good candidate to receive 2k grafts / 6k hairs.

I guess the clinic did a good job convincing me that they do a ton of these and the doctor seemed real legit in person. How hard can it be to if you've been doing it for 25 years? lol

Thanks for your reply btw and any help is welcome.

  9. Hey Man, I am going to be getting a 2000 graft FUE procedure with Doctor Caglayan in a month. I am not seeing much on line about this particular surgeon and I am curious to know how your experience was? Any tips? Also I surprised he did 3000k grafts when his office told me that the max they do is 2000k graft in a session and that they try to get 6000k hairs. Anything you can provide me is helpful! Thank you!
