Hey Tomi, thanks for your reply and insight. What kind of stage were you at after about a month ? am trying to work out timings and was wondering if you had any pictures of around the month and 2 month mark ?
also how are you looking now ?
At one month, recipient area it started to look red and shedding a lot. Two months no improvement. 5-6-7 has been the good months for me so far.
One pic at two month. Other from about one week ago

hey mate - i just read your 6 month update and was blown away by your pics. it looks really good to me. i still haven't booked mine in but am tempted after seeing yours - the only thing is im sure i have less than you did to start with and they quoted me only 2400. in an ideal world would you have wanted more done than the 2800 ? how did your donor area hold up and could it of handled more ?
Hey broski thanks for the kind words. Wimpole are super conservative. If I could go back I would have pushed for more like 3,500 but I understand the conservative approach. They were worried about my donor looking north blown so they wanted to see how it looked after a year. After 6 months it is looking super thick back there and I believe I could take another 2-3 k and plan to unless I get considerable density in months to come. Finasteride is also helping so could possibly avoid it. I wouldn’t dissuade you from Wimpole but I would consider options in Spain or even Poland that would do more like 4K for the same price. But Wimpole in my opinion feels like a safe option and I would consider using them again for a second pass next year. If you are really considering a ht I would say just do it, I’m really glad I did. Good luck

For six months post op you appear to have gained a lot of coverage. It’s hard to tell how it looks in terms of naturalness without better pics of the hairline, etc. I would definitely give the Finasteride a good 12 months before even thinking of pulling the trigger again. You really need to get to 10-12 months before judging your results. Wishing you all the best! 👌
Thanks mate. Here is some close ups not great quality though. I’ll take your advice and wait it out and keep on fin

G’day blokes, I said I’d post my 6 month progress here. So here it is. I had 2,800 grafts for my entire thinning scalp. I did rush my decision and decided to pull the trigger from not doing anything or knowing anything to getting a transplant one month later. I believe I could have gone somewhere else and gotten 4-5 k grafts for a better price, got a better surgeon and better result but I didn’t have a lot of free time and the series of events leading up to my procedure made me choose this route. I am happy with it. A lot more confident and still expect some new growth but have managed my expectations well since day 1. I am willing to go for a second pass to add density but I am curious about what you think in regards to what I can expect to gain from here, does it look natural, how many extra grafts do you think I will need in the future, is it possibly fin will close in the gaps etc etc. Here is some pictures of day 1 and the rest from the 6 month marker. I am on 1 mg fin with NO side effects and believe I am starting to see gains on my untouched dipping crown.
All opinions welcomed, i have a pretty thick skin about this now and want to hear the truth. If anyone out there is considering doing this and feels in a same position as me before procedure please feel free to contact me if you have questions or need some advice.
Thanks -

@Tomi Oh cool! That looks good! You've got a much better hairline now than before. Plus it frames your face nicely. So if that's month 5, I'm sure you'll continue getting more density in month 6 too. Those are supposed to be the boom growth months.
I've just hit week 10 so still in the ugly duckling phase, just waiting for growth to start. Looking forward to the exciting times ahead.
Thanks man. Ugly duckling phase sucks and definitely a test of character. My ONLY advice for this stage is to not let it rule you, shave your head down to number 1 & try not to think about it and let time pass by as usual. After 3 months the redness subsided & I started not wearing a hat and rocking the buzz cut. Helps with regaining confidence for later, if you can rock the ugly duck, you have already won.

Hey @JoeG I’m not quite 6 months yet but yeah, have had significant result and beginning to be happy with it. I think I may be somewhat a slow grower as it is still thin so hoping for thickness in the coming months. These pics are from today is direct sunlight m. Opinions welcomed by all. Thanks

Hi @Jose9not much to report mate, I am at 9 weeks into the process and have had the usual ugly duck phase symptoms shedding/redness and not looking crash hot, but, all expected and staying as positive and patient as I can awaiting the results. No side effects to fin. Feeling hopeful and will post some results when I see progress in the next couple of months.

Hey legends just wondering after hearing what may be myths of people getting permanent redness after a HT from sun exposure, I’m sure after the first couple of weeks that direct sunlight isn’t good but after week 7 for myself, I am going on holiday and plan to go snorkeling and diving a lot and obviously can not wear a hat in the water so I will be exposed to the sun… am I at risk of doing any damage?
thanks -
@broskiyeah it looks like clean work to me, can’t see the donor area any more and minimal redness in the recipient area. Looks, for the most part un noticeable to the untrained eye at this point don’t feel weird walking around in public like this at all. Still feels a bit numb though but I’ve been told that’s normal and can last a month! He said when he was doing it he could have fit another 1000 grafts (it was a tough call as to how many they could fit without damaging my native hair) which is good to know because the transplant was pretty front heavy and I’m expecting (unless I get a great result from fin) that my crown will still look thin so, I’ll see how my donor heals and see how many more grafts I can potentially take to do another ht in a couple of years. But I think that is probably another draw back of Wimpole, they seem to suggest 3000 is probably the maximum they would do in a day. Maybe that’s a good thing because anything more than that, I’d expect the surgeons would become fatigued. I was there from 7.45 until 4.30.

My advice to you is to start taking finasteride now. See how you go with it and how your body reacts in the way of stopping your hair loss and potentially improving it and wait 6 months. 90%+ chance it will work and you won’t have any sides. Then in that time you will see an update from me with final results. I feel like they are a fine choice, sure not the best but I’m not regretting it. The months after your procedure are full of exciting highs awaiting the result and also full of uncertainty so I wouldn’t want to give anyone any advice right now aside from taking fin before your procedure so you can rule that out as a potential issue and stabilize your hair loss now. I had a women called sha (I think) who seemed very professional and I felt comfortable with. But the proof is in the pudding and we will know soon enough if the final result is satisfactory. Here’s a updated picture day 12 post op

Hey I’m just curious and can’t seem to find a straight answer, can I buzz my hair down to number 1 after one month after surgery to minimize the effect of the ‘ugly duckling’ stage?
-
@broskihey mate yeah healing well as far as I can tell, in fact, looks a lot better than most peoples cases I have seen in the way of scabbing and I am not having any real problems with pain or itchiness. Just a bit swollen still and made my eyes puffy. The whole thing was not any where near as bad as I expected. I’m taking fin 1mg now with no sides as of yet. I’ll post a 6 month update 👍🏻

Yeah he did the incisions. I’m not sure of the grafts per cm. And thankyou, yes is unlikely I will need a beard transplant 😅 well. We’ll see the results soon enough

Hey guys so I got my surgery yesterday at the Wimpole clinic in London. I’ll give a run through for anyone who is considering using them. First of all, it was a smooth process, no pain, staff were nice and I felt comfortable with Dr Dayah. We ended up with just over 2,800 grafts for my entire thinning scalp. I wasn’t aware but the technicians did most of the work, I didn’t feel uncomfortable with that but I think that was a question I should have of asked. But overall, I left feeling pretty assured and am eager to see the result.
These images were taken pre op and immediately post op (with a slight hairline adjustment & sorry i didn’t manage to get a clean donor picture). I am taking finasteride now and am hoping for a good result but also somewhat prepared for a second procedure if needed but hopefully not for a while. Happy to hear your opinions and thoughts. I will give a 6 month update and if anyone feels like you may be in a similar situation to me before surgery & has any questions I’m happy to answer

Ok thanks @RTC that is the impression I am getting. I will hope for the best & if I need another in the future to get the desired result then so be it. Thanks for the reply

@RTCi booked with a clinic called Wimpole on Harley st in London a few weeks ago. I saw that they have great reviews online and as far as I could tell a reputable clinic so I made my decision based upon the that knowledge, price and availability seeing as I only have a small window of time to do this. I joined this group only 4 days ago and was unaware of its existence prior to booking. Since looking I can see some negative talk about some of Wimpoles surgeons. None about dr dayah… so I thought I’d ask. Hope that answers your question.

@broskiyeah sure why not. I think the more unbiased information out there the better for the next generation of dudes struggling with hair loss. I’m all for breaking the stigma and having a better approach towards a condition that is causing people anxiety and depression. If there is something we can do to help then we should be doing it

Hey guys I am struggling to find any information on this surgeon. If anyone has any experiences I would love to hear from you as I am going into surgery with him in a couple of days! Thanks a lot
