  1. Thanks for sharing your HS to HT experience! I don't find the maintenance all that bad and have taken steps to make it as simple as possible Typically I like wearing an unexposed hairline and realised I don't need tape+glue, tape is more than enough even if I go to the gym every day Only takes me 45m now to do a full maintenance and refit I also just don't care about being exposed as a HS wearer. Don't get me wrong I want it to pass as real 99% of the time, but I have no shame, I love the experience of wearing one and I've fooled more than enough people with it so far The whole it damages follicles underneath is a myth and tbh even if it did I simply don't care because I know I will never manage to make a transplant match a HS in density and volume. I also don't want to blow all my savings on surgery too... HS isn't for everyone but I beginning to realise it's for me
  2. 3 month Update from me, really appreciate the honest advice given here. Based off the posts given here and posts across the forum I decided a HT was simply not for me for a few reasons: - Risk of surgery leaving me in a worse place via over harvesting/necrosis, I've seen enough horror stories on here 😔 - Upfront cost being simply too much for me (Especially for a good surgeon and even then great results are not a guarantee as pointed out) - A transplant can't achieve the thickness/texture my old hair had So I booked a few consultations around my city and in the end got a frontal Hair System last month It's been an honest surprise just how good a hair system is. It's somehow less trouble than my old hair would you believe it. I'm not having to style my hair into a dumb frontal comb over which is held up by too much product and hairspray that I spend 15mins in the morning styling. You know it was bad when bedhead looks better than your old styled receeding hair 🥲. I can even go gym and swim in it. Most days I don't even notice I have this thing taped and glued to my head! Reactions from friends and work were, memorable to say the least I've also stopped taking oral minoxidil all together as whilst I'm fine rn, I have 0 idea how in 10, 20, 30+ years it will affect me. Still take fin to keep my current hair however, do want to avoid the cost and discomfort of a full HS for now
  3. The hair loss isn't creeping behind my fringe, the minox pretty much fixed that area but it's cutting closer than I'd like (Also, can posters please stop arguing about how many grafts I need. Happy to let a surgeon decide what's best for me. It's good to know it's about 2000~ however) Also, how do consultations work, do I need to pay for each individual one? Also, Is there a repository of contact info I can use?
  4. I agree, nothing against an internet forum but it's a good call to speak with a HT specialist about my situation. I'm quite clueless about how consolations really work with this, get the feeling they are not free and might cost me a bit especially if I speak with multiple Dr's about it Where do I even go for consultations, do we have a repository of contact info lying around here I can use?
  5. I had a look through the forum and save for one iffy transplant Pekiners results look stunning Typically how long are waiting lists for transplants from these surgeons?
  6. At it's best it's always been a little further than a your average person
  7. Ah I know what bit your talking about, the Minox filled in that part completely fortunately
  8. It does bother me quite a bit being forced to have certain haircuts and not being able to grow my hair out like I used to when I can 100% get this fixed. Not so much a question of why get it fixed for me but why wouldn't I get it fixed What are the limitations of Fin/Min. My understanding is this is probably all it can do for me at this stage and will most likely hold the line for some time to come Give me an idea of what sort of risks I could encounter with a HT. I posted here in part to be a lot better informed about HT's, it is surgery so I want to take this seriously
  9. For hairline this is where I'd like it to be. Don't take it as absolute as I drew it on with a mouse in MSPaint, but it would be nice to have the corner bits filled in
  10. Dads completely bald and as for my grandads, Dad's side kept his hair but my Mom's side he receded quite heavily.TBH I have no clue where in the genetic lottery I stand but as shown in the pictures above in 5 months not much has changed and I have not lost ground, just gained some I just want to address the front part, no issues on the back of my head or anywhere else ever really before/after I started meds
  11. The pictures of my progress on Fin/Min are below I've been slowly losing my hair since I was about 22 based off what old pictures I have of myself. Fortunately I caught it somewhat early and began taking Finasteride when I was 24 in Nov of 2021 to stop my hair loss Here is what I've been taking and for how long: I've been on Fin since Nov 2021 (18 Months) I've been on Topical Min since June 2022 (5 Months) and switch to Oral Min in December 2022 (5 Months) I think at this point I've hit the limit of what Fin/Min can do for me. It has reversed some of my hair loss but not all. Min alone has also boosted my beard and interestingly enough made my hair much darker than it was (I got a few confused questions from my family about that 😅) I want to get a small hair transplant to fix up what Fin/Min is not able to regrow and I want to find a good place to get it done... So I got a few questions Should I get a transplant at 25? (As mentioned Fin/Min has stabilised the loss but isn't going repair much more for me) How much transplanted hair am I looking at to fix what's in my pictures? How much will it cost to get it done at a trustworthy surgeon (I know I could go to Turkey but understand that's a risky choice that's frowned upon on here) What are the good surgeons on here people recommend? One final question, why do some hair transplants go very well and some end in failure? What determines failure or success? Is it the surgeon or to some degree pure chance based on stuff like genetics? I see some incredible work from what's considered bad places on here and failures from said places too. I don't really get why some fail badly and some succeed and look incredible
  12. Some of the advice here on drugs is nuts makes me feel like Im on subreddits I shall not name. I don't want to take oral minox because who knows what a blood thinner in my system for possibly decades will do (Im aware its a very small dose). Dut, again is a risk Im not sure I even need to take right now. Fin is doing the job and I have no desire rn to switch to a drug that might have nasty side effects, I've already rolled the dice twice with Fin and topical min.
  13. I appreciate the advice from folks here. Really sounds like I should save more and give it more time, though I do want some more ballpark estimates on price with a good surgeon. so that I have a goal to save towards Those two pictures in my op, there is a difference but not much of any, I can see how many baby hairs have grown in since starting min and its not very sibstantial. Call it coping but my hair has always been very high on my head and its only on my temples it has receeded
