  1. @Melvin- Moderator @Fue3361@Fabulous Thank you guys. Should I start with finasteride 1mg or should I go and consult someone with the stature of Dr. Bansal and Dr. Sethi first? It will be next to impossible for me to do that in the next 2-3 months though. I know finasteride is safe but is it okay to start it by one's own will? Sure I will ask the cardiac surgeon about minoxidil. If he gives it a go then again the same question as finasteride, can one start it on its own? I am more inclined towards minoxidil rather than finasteride. The only thing which scares me about finasteride is the faster shedding phase. About dutasteride, I tried finasteride like 7-8 years ago for a year, year and a half. Does it make sense to give it one more chance? @Melvin- ModeratorSaw your vlog in the Eugenix clinic the other day. Happy growing man. You need to become a regular vlogger. Leave hair aside for a second, what's your skincare routine haha and would you recommend Nizoral 1% or 2%? The dandruff can only be detected if after hairwash the scalp is like scratched with a nail. And diets don't help at all? I completely understand the DHT part but I really thought that a good diet will help, atleast a little. P.S. I called Eugenix on the number mentioned on their website as shared by @JC71The guy told me that Dr. Bansal and Dr. Sethi are only available for hair transplantation if some certain package is chosen. In person consultation will be done by someone trained by them.
  2. I will dm you the name. Yeah they are the one's recommending the PRP. None of these not so known clinics will recommend PRP only over fin/minox all the time. Tagging @Melvin- Moderatorand @gillenator Sir please go through the original post.
  3. Hey thanks for replying. Actually the clinic that I chose in my city is a national level chain of clinics, not run by doctors but by businessmen. It has a proper hospital type set up but operated by the technicians/staff with no real doctor at any branch. I know that PRP does not lower the levels of DHT that is why I asked about its efficiency. A quick question, for how long one needs to stay on fin/minox to judge their efficiency? Are there any studies that it does not work for everyone? Also does it make sense to start Minoxidil as it is not an oral tablet? Eugenix is the best clinic in India. Dr. Arika's work is outstanding. But that is in some other state than mine. I don't know anyone there plus due to some personal issues on my side I cannot visit them currently. Do they provide consultation via video conferencing? Is it worth it? P.S. That photo in the original thread was taken 2 months before the op.
  4. Hi, I am 32, M from India. A little background about me, have been loosing hair since the past 10 years or something. Tried finasteride, minoxidil after a doctor suggested me, I did not research about it myself then. Finasteride increased the shedding, tried it for about 1-1.5 years and then stopped it. Used minoxidil 2.5%, 5% and even 10%. Very small and thin hair used to grow and then used to shed after a few weeks. Applied only on the bald area. Was on saw palmetto for a year and a half too. It didn't help either. This was about 7-8 years ago. Have been an avid reader of this forum. Now there are two doctors as suggested here for the hair transplant in my state. Went to both for consultation. Both were charging around the same but the actual transplantation was done by their staff only. The doctors only started the surgery if I am allowed to be very blunt. So, I chose a cheaper, not very known clinic in my city in November, 2019. PFA a photo 2 months before the op. The gap widened in those 2 months, my old phone is not with me right now so not able to share more photos. They did a fine job I would say. My motive was only to cover the head. I am not into styling or anything. Anyways they did not suggest finasteride or minoxidil post op. But kept on saying to take regular PRP therapies. 2 were in the package and I took them. The hair were shedding few months after the op too but not much as the hair were kinda thick, I am talking about the non transplanted hair. 2020 was a bad year, lost many things. No gym for me since 2020 and my diet sucks. Last year in 2021 I was diagnosed with bicuspid aortic valve, a congenital issue, and my aortic valve was replaced. I am on anticoagulants for life. I thought that this will increase the shedding but the shedding was normal. Couldn't see any gaps on the head. Then I had a very very bad breakup and some personal family issues and now the shedding has worsened. I can already see the gaps behind the transplanted part. I talked to my heart surgeon, he gave a go for the finasteride. Stress does make me loose more hair. Since I have no control over it so few questions- 1. Should I start finasteride and/or minoxidil myself? The clinic from which I got the transplant done is still not advising the same. They are sticking to PRP. Here we can get finasteride without the prescription. The only thing which bothers me about it is the faster shedding phase which might demotivate me to stop it. 2. Is PRP FDA approved? Is it really helpful? As per the clinic, blood thinners will have no impact on PRP. 3. I have curly hair, I just use a baby shampoo to wash them. I was them every alternate day. Apply an aloe vera gel or sometimes a herbal cream. Using baby shampoo as the guys at the clinic recommended it. Now I have a little dandruff which usually come off if I scratch my head after washing, cannot see it otherwise. Which is a good mild anti dandruff shampoo? 4. Since my diet sucks and I don't have time for gym, my gymming is anyways restricted now because of the replaced heart valve, should I start whey protein and/or multivitamins? Trust me my diet currently is like burgers and fried food. Yes I need to get this straight first, I know. Also my sleeping pattern is fked up. 5. Any other recommendations? Thanks
