  1. I think Melvin and Shiba made some great points. The poor growth is unlikely due to a botched procedure by Dr. Hasson and is more likely attributable to an underlying health condition or simply slow growth. I would recommend waiting a few more months and working with Dr. Hasson to figure out what went wrong. I don’t think switching surgeons is going to help much.

I don't like that Dr. Hasson operated on you in the first place considering your age. You listed some good alternative docs however Pinto and Bisanaga are very ethical and rarely accept young patients. There is also a Ferriera case with poor growth on this forum. Surgery is a risk and nothing is 100% guaranteed, no matter how much research you do. If you dig deep enough you'll find some poor cases from every doc.

    Update - 9 months.

Maybe a little thickening and growth, but IMO, the angles are still too upright - rather than style my hair up, I have to do flatten it down (which is difficult because they are stiffer than the surrounding hair); the density is sparse, and because the angles are upright it over accentuates the unnaturalness as you see through the stems like a thin forest; and I believe the hair line is maybe a little too low with no irregularity - I would've been more happy in hindsight with a higher central point.

Honestly I’m really stressed and believe having a HT has been the single worst decision of my life – a decision I once thought of as an exciting step to being more confident in myself to now being sadly more anxious than ever. It’s crushed my life and takes up all my free thinking time, I no longer hang with friends or date either as I'm fed up with either constantly wearing a hat, or answering questions about what's going on with my head. I also buzzed my head as it just looked awful with long hair.

On the bright side, I spoke to the clinic and have an in-person consultation next month, they have suggested a touch up free of charge as to quote them, ‘they want a result they are proud of and a result their clients are happy with’. We’ve already discussed what this might mean, perhaps adding around 200 more singles in the front, and 400 multis in each temple for an additional 1000 grafts.

However, that doesn't solve the angle of the grafts already placed, I mean looking at everything online, frontal hair regions should be low, around 30 degrees maybe, but my transplanted hair is between seem up to 80 degrees, and while my natural hair does have a high exit angle it is soft and fine therefore flopping immediately forwards. Whereas the implanted hair is rigid with a bend in the opposite direction, so the hair meets like this ‘(())’ and opposed to ‘((((‘.

20220513_175719_edit.thumb.jpg.2b794dbed902a5802e10735d4585da71.jpg Before surgery - high angles but with flop?:

    DSC0749edit1.jpg.b39e17033b4c47e10bfc9b8505a34105.jpg

Moreover, because I am so unhappy, I’m unsure if I should find another surgeon or stick with the same clinic; I mean they are caring and empathetic surgeons and clearly want to do right by me, but will another HT with them be more of the same, or is simply more density all I need - I really don't know.

To answer the question I reached out to Dr Bloxham and Dr Feriduni for some external thoughts. Dr Bloxham wrote a thorough reply and was somewhat more positive about the HT, suggesting another 1200 grafts would alleviate a lot of the problems and that the clinic looked like they know what they’re doing and that I shouldn't see it as a repair case, but a touch up. However, Dr Feriduni was more negative, stating that the hair angles are incorrect, the hairline is too low, and that he would have to extract 700 grafts before reworking as he stated I should never had a HT to begin with and that if I contacted him first, he would advise against a HT, however I did reach out to him when in the consultation stage and he suggested 2200 grafts. So I have no idea…

Sorry for the rant, but i would love to hear other people’s thought, especially from those who have had to go through a repair/touch up procedure already. I’m in a pretty deep hole about this.

Dr. Feriduni is an excellent surgeon so I would trust his evaluation. Dr. Bloxham is a lot less experienced than Dr. Feriduni and only does FUT which is a bad idea for a repair. I would also reach out to Dr. Bisanga who is very good at repairs. The worst thing you can do is go back to the same clinic that botched you.

What does that have to do with the sh*t result and serious malpractice allegations from H&W? I'm convinced you don't have an ounce of critical thinking in your entire body.

It’s the same person, he admits being the the same user on his Reddit post about Wong.  All of the top docs are supposedly taking turns botching him. Not gonna keep going back and forth with you.

The photos speak for themselves. The story about medical malpractice is a serious one, and one that would mean slander and a lawsuit given H&W know who the patient is. I question the ethics of such a comment. The community should know about all experiences, good and bad. Perhaps you are a paid H&W representative?

Here’s another result he made saying Konior botched him.

Quick! Lock a thread about potential malpractice because some meanie said some mean things! Lmfao.

This guy has created a dozen burner accounts on multiple platforms saying he was botched by Konior, Wong and Devroye. Either he’s the unluckiest person alive or just a troll.

  6. The guy who made the Reddit post, this post and the low comment user criticizing Dr. Wong in this thread are all new accounts with no prior posting history.  @mister_25 also pointed out the similarities with this post and other burner accounts making false claims about several top docs. Seems like the same weirdo troll behind all these accounts, this thread should be locked @Melvin- Moderator.

  7. I’ve discussed this with several highly regarded hair transplant docs and they’ve told me not all generics are the same. People losing ground on generics is fairly common. Avoid generics manufactured in India and China, Teva is a good brand for high quality generics. The online pharmacies like Hims, Keeps, Roman, etc all sell low quality generics. If you want to save money on brand name finasteride, get a Proscar prescription and split the tablets into 4. If you live in the US and want significantly cheaper Avodart, send your prescription to a Canadian mail order pharmacy (I use NorthWestPharmacy). I believe Costco sources highly quality generics so you should be fine but pay attention to the brand you’re currently taking and make sure the pharmacy doesn’t make any substitutions.

  8. What’s your age? Since you’re on finasteride and it would probably be a very small procedure, I don’t see a big risk if you go to a great doctor. Go back to Heitmann, all of the best doctors have long wait lists. How do you get in touch with Dr. Heitmann? I’ve tried emailing the address on his website and also his patient advisor but never heard back.

I suppose that’s why I chose Dr Konior. To minimize regret if there is some. Certainly there will probably be a fluctuation of emotions. But, after seeing all the results here on HRN it’s hard not to want to at least try to reinforce things. I mean I’ve almost made it to 50 here with meds, why not? Serious question, why not?  Plus there’s story after story of people seeking a procedure when meds stop working. I mean I suppose if meds are continued for whatever time frame they’ll still be effective even though diminished over time, maybe… who knows

Because surgery is risky and you don’t have hair loss. I’m a Dr. K patient and think the world of him but he won’t be able to create a hairline that’s as natural as your current one, no doctor can. I think you might be over analyzing normal shedding as meds not working, you have near perfect density in your pictures and it seems unlikely your hair loss will progress any further given your age and medical regimen.

Previous post didn’t update so I’ll repost. Having such low DHT from using Avodart and Pumpkin Seed Oil(test prior to using PSO and after confirm this)… hairloss is progressing rather slowly. Your hair looks amazing considering your age and nobody would think you have hair loss if you were walking down the street. There’s a strong possibility you will end up regretting surgery, a transplanted hairline will never look as natural as your current hairline. We are each our own worst critic and you will probably find something to nitpick even if surgery goes perfectly.

  11. You will likely have shock loss and still look odd at 6 weeks if you don’t shave your head. I’ve had 2 procedures, one was partial shave and the other was fully shaved and I looked much more normal at 6 weeks with a buzz cut with the full shave procedure. Just wear hats or rock a buzz cut for the first few weeks. Partial shave and no-shave sound great but aren’t really that practical, you’re handicapping the surgeon and risking a bad outcome but you will still look weird because of shock loss.

Thank you both. Konior said this am that given my strong donor supply/quality + controlled recession, that I should be a very good candidate. Great point about the price point of Nussbaum impacting the likelihood of his patients posting in forums.

I guess my last question on this topic would be, do either of you share the concerns about Artas that I have seen elsewhere on this forum? Nussbaum uses ARTAS and I am trying to decide how big of a concern that should be for me...

None of the elite FUE surgeons in the world use ARTAS. It would be a lot cheaper and quicker for all surgeons to use ARTAS but they don’t because extracting grafts manually is much better. Some other names to consider in North America who are better options and around the same price: Dr. Gabel, Hasson and Wong, Cooley and Shapiro. There are also tons of great FUE surgeons in Europe.

It is for sure the transplanted hairs that are like this and yes i take propecia, i was taking minoxidil for a year after the surgery and before but stopped due to hair getting to long, its so annoying to apply when hair is long, makes it sticky and impossibly to get to scalp unless you use something very thin. Funnily you mentioned the hair cut, the hairdresser said the hair at the back of your head is different to the font, so it is defiently the transplanted hairs. I did take 3/4 inches off my hair, so maybe i just get it cut more regulary to see if it improves the situation.

I tried topical minoxidil for a year and when I stopped the quality of my hair degraded significantly even though I never saw any improvement while I was on minoxidil. After stopping minoxidil my hair became wispy and I went through a big shed. The quality of my hair improved when I got on oral minoxidil. I was/am on finasteride for a long time before I tried topical minoxdil so it was definitely the minoxidil that caused a change in my hair quality. You can try oral minoxidil, I know Dr. Freitas is a big fan of the drug. Oral minoxidil is a lot more effective than topical and isn’t a nuisance to apply.

Does anyone else find it concerning that they created an account just to argue with a patient? He clearly sensed something was off and he was right. I’m sorry about Dr. Keser’s cousin, but imagine a heart surgeon or neurosurgeon making personal excuses for why the procedure didn’t run smoothly as usual.

I saw the original hotel room photos and they look no different than the post-op photos. It’s crazy to me that the patient feels he needs to apologize for sharing his true experience.

Maybe it’s because there was another crazy patient about 1.5 years ago slandering Dr. Keser’s reputation on multiple forums because his transplant didn’t fully grow by 3 months. The transplant eventually looked great by 7-8 months but all of the negative comments probably hurt Dr. Keser’s reputation. It’s unfair to claim something has gone wrong a few days after surgery, you need to wait 7-8 months before judging a hair transplant. OP’s post-op pictures look great and there is no sign of any issues.
