  1. After a HT, how long before my stylist can use hair color(dye)on my hair?
  2. How is the best way to resume a weight training routine after a transplant? Are there specific exercises to avoid from stretching the donor area scar?
  3. My hairstyle has followed my hair loss for years. My hair remains long on top to help conceal my thinning crown. The use of propecia has slowed the thinning but after 10 years, I need a more aggressive strategy. My research started with my hairstylist. My stylist had clients who had great results from a local Plastic Surgeon. In researching this doctor, I discovered the Hair Transplant Network. This network provided excellent feedback and helped me prepare for my first consultation. The consultation with the Plastic Surgeon was disappointing. The Doctor wanted to use 1500 grafts to fill in the crown. He places each graft personally, which limits the size of the session. Additional sessions could be scheduled at later dates. He admitted one session of 1500 would not be sufficient coverage but I could style my hair to cover the crown. After reading the article RE: Visit to Dr. Bernardino Arocha's Clinic in Houston, Texas, published on the Hair Transplant Network, I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Arocha. After one consultation, I knew Dr. Arocha was my doctor. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They encourage you to do your research and ask as many questions as possible. And I did. The atmosphere at Dr. Arocha's Clinic is similar to a hi-tech art gallery. We reviewed patients with similar issues on two large plasma monitors. He examined my hair and made many photos in the setting of a professional photo studio. Dr. Arocha explained how he wanted to use 3000 grafts to transform my hair density. He was more interested in meeting my expectations than selling a medical procedure. The transplant started at 730am and lasted until 900pm. The feeling returned to my scalp mid-afternoon and I had to be deadened for a second time. After the procedure, I was encouraged to take the pain medication at bedtime before the pain returned. I slept through the night with absolutely no pain. Be sure to purchase a cervical pillow, the only discomfort comes from the stitches in the donor area. This discomfort is easily managed with Tylenol. Following the post-op instructions of sleeping elevated, taking prednisone, and avoid lifting or bending down, my recovery has been flawless. I used the Procyte Graftcyte Kit to help control itching and scabbing. The kit is effective and easy to use. I highly recommend Dr. Arocha and his team (Craig, Maria & Mary). He really listens and takes the time to understand your concerns and manage your expectations. I feel more like a member of a team and not just a patient.
  4. In Houston Texas, if you had to choose between Dr. Alfonso Barrera and Dr. Bernardino Arocha, whom would you choose and why?
