  1. @JDEE0 thanks mate. Honestly so annoying that there aren't many reputable doctors in the UK. The quarantining issue was more the fact that I'd have to quarantine in Belgium upon arrival (until receiving a negative result) - just seems like hassle. I'd be perfectly happy quarantining for 10 days when I get back home as I probably wouldn't wanna go out anyway straight after the surgery. Good point about the hairline and density, I'd basically be trying to replicate my original hairline (which is now mostly gone, lol). SMP is definitely not my ideal route but if done properly it could be a good option until I'm able to go to a surgeon where an excellent result is almost guaranteed – I'd be so gutted to pay thousands only for it to end in disappointment. Your point about light reflection is something I've been thinking about - if the ink is totally matte and could stop my scalp from shining underneath the thinning hair then that would be amazing.. but if the bald parts of my hairline area would still shine under the ink then that would give it away I suppose.
  2. Hi all, been searching these forums for a good few weeks now since I came to the decision that I definitely want a hair transplant – unfortunately finding the right surgeon/doctor is proving to be very difficult as I'm based in the UK, and I'm mixed with curly hair. Travelling to Belgium doesn't seem too feasible at the moment as the UK is on the red list, and I'd have to quarantine as soon as I arrive which could really complicate things. Ideally I'd like to just get the transplant done in the UK but the one doctor I've been heavily considering is producing very mixed results, so I'm not too sure about it any more. I'm actually considering getting SMP (or a more temporary form of SMP if that exists - one that would last for just a year instead of 5-7 years for example?). I think I'm a norwood two, the main issue is that my hairline is receding. With the way I style my hair, I think SMP could potentially blend in with my existing hairs to create a natural result. I'm mainly wondering though if getting SMP would ruin my chances of getting a transplant in say 1 or 2 years time? Not really sure of the specifics e.g. if it makes it more difficult for the surgeon. It would also be good to get your opinion as to whether mixing SMP with long-ish hair on top is a good idea at all? I know the majority of people go for the buzz-cut look but that doesn't suit me. Thanks guys
  3. Hey, thanks. So you’re having a small top up for density? Was this mentioned during your initial consultation? Is the hair dr carrying out this touch up free of charge or do you have to pay? thanks
  4. @JDEE0 thanks, I've seen a few threads on a different forum where the patients have needed top-ups due to poor results - apparently they offer it free of charge though which is nice, but ideally I'd just like it to be successful the first time seeing as the whole process seems quite stressful. On the flipside I've seem some results from him which look fantastic. Annoyingly the UK is on the red list for Belgium, so I wouldn't even be able to enter the country unless I get fully vaxxed. 🤦‍♂️ (not an anti-vaxer btw.) I would travel to Belgium if it meant getting a top-tier doctor, but I'll do some more digging. @JC71 haven't heard of Feriduni before, is he Belgium based too? I'll have a look.
  5. Thanks for answering my Q. Will keep taking the meds whilst trying to find a good doctor for the transplant!
  6. Hi all, would you recommend Dr Arshad (The Hair Dr - UK)? I would appreciate feedback based on some form of evidence, whether it’s personal experience or a specific case that impressed you etc. Please don’t just say that you think he’s great or awful with no context as that’s not helpful. I’m mixed, curly hair, Norwood 2. A few people have recommended him and said out of the Drs in the UK, he’s the one to go to for curly or afro hair, however I’ve only seen 2 examples of this hair type on their Instagram page - and none on the website. Thanks guys, and sorry if there’s already a thread like this!
  7. @JC71 thanks, will have a look into that doctor. Just curious, why wouldn't a hair transplant be able to restore the density of what my hair once was?
  8. @JC71 yeah, probably phrased that wrong tbh, I'm definitely not going to rush into anything despite the urge to get this sorted. Not sure if the pic is showing now, but I'm really just trying to figure out whether a transplant is the only way forward, or whether it's possible for me to turn the tiny hairs back into fully grown ones somehow - whether it's with fin or other methods. @LaserCaps thanks, yeah even if fin prevents things from getting worse, that's a win in itself. Do you think a hair transplant would be the only way for me to regrow my hair though? My hairline used to be pretty dense and I could wear my hair up before. I'm wondering mainly because I can still see some hairs, but they've shrunk so much that it appears bald. I'm not sure if the hairs are 'dead' or if they could somehow turn back into mature ones.
  9. Hi all, I need some advice.I'm 27, male, mixed race and based in the UK. I've been thinking about a hair transplant constantly recently, as my hairline has been thinning and receding for years and it's something that I think about (and have to conceal) every day. I'm unsure as to whether I should get a hair transplant asap or whether I should try and see how medical therapy / other hair restoration methods could help me instead. I started taking Finasteride a week ago. I've taken a close-up pic (this is the most thin and receding part of my hairline) so you guys can see the extent of hair loss. I noticed from the pic that the hairs aren't completely gone, they're just tiny and very thin. The red line represents where my hairline once was 😪, it was never perfectly straight but it sat around there. Should I try and get a transplant asap? Do you think Finasteride could realistically restore my hair density / hairline? Or should I try other methods? Would be good to get some informed opinions please. Thanks in advance.
