Great attitude to have! Only thing I’d say is if it’s buzzed you have the effect of zero density and if you’re lucky you will have something starting to take shape at 4 months (may take longer) - so you might want to stop buzzing it at 2.5 months or so to give it chance to grow out so you can properly what’s happening at that time :0)

Yep makes sense and that’s kind of my plan. I’ve actually left buzzing it for the last couple of weeks but I plan to buzz it today but leave it buzzed at a longer grade . Once growth starts appearing 🤞 I will leave it to grow again 👍🤞🤞🤞

I remember complimenting you on the donor area. It looks excellent

They say hair transplants aren't a guarantee,  but I genuinely guarantee that you will have a great result. Besides going to a great clinic, your hair quality allows you to achieve the fullness of results that everyone dreams of.

Apart from that, you are also able to go for a second procedure in the future since everything is so well at the back.

For now, good luck and happy growth along the way

    Thanks Ryan
your kind comments mean a lot.

Fingers crossed I get one the great Dr Bisanga results 🤞

Thanks for the kind words Oliver

Early days for me yet so I am letting each day pass and not thinking about it although my donor looks untouched and the redness is settling down.
mice decided to keep it all buzzed down until I start getting growth.
I’m actually enjoying having a buzzed cut

    2 Month Update.

exactly 2 months today since my procedure with Dr Bisanga. I’ve totally switched off from it and not been at all bothered in terms of trying to hide it.
with permission from the clinic I have buzzed it down which makes it blend in and look much better. I actually really like it that way !
With it only being 2 months there is obviously nothing to report on in terms of growth but the redness has really faded and settled down.
On the below pics I have not buzzed it for 2 weeks, it usually looks and blends in better when it’s buzzed down.

The donor looks absolutely untouched with no issues whatsoever.

I started taking oral minoxidil about 1 month before the procedure and I certainly feel like something is happening . My beard has really thickened up and more hairs across my cheekbones which I don’t mind at all.
I think my hairs and toes have more hairs ?

I have also most definitely grown baby type thin hair on the side of my head from my temple points to my eyebrows on both sides. They are not really visible unless you look closely but they are certainly there.
Let’s hope the minoxidil also works on the head.

Ah great, I did see your thread in the lead up to my procedure. I will be sure to follow your journey!

Yeah, it's one of those things I guess. I really wish I didn't care, but somehow I can't see myself being outside much without a hat for the next couple of months!

Glad to hear the redness is starting to settle, did you use anything to try and calm it? If I didn't have the redness I wouldn't have a problem going out with a shaved head at this stage to be honest... I am sure it will be a different story during the ugly duckling phase though!

Amazing that your stress and worry was all for nothing, really pleased for you. If I can start to feel like that over the next few weeks, that would be great!

I regularly Aloe Vera but I’ve stopped know. The redness is still there but much calmer with no spots either.
Since my last picture update I firstly shaved all my head except the transplanted area and it made a huge difference. It was night and day , it just blended in much better .

I then checked in with the clinic as to when I can shave the transplanted area and once I got the nod I’ve buzzed the whole head. I shed the majority of hairs perhaps 80 per cent but the ones which remained just seem to help make it all blend in.

I spent years thinking how will I hide a transplant and It was pointless . I took the attitude of stuff it ! If anyone asks I’ll tell them. I went to work and all folk think is I’ve buzzed my head and nobody’s commented on that !

I’ve been to weddings , up town for a meal etc and seen folk . I laugh and think how can nobody say anything to me ! Very strange.

Relax and don’t worry about it .

Thanks! Yes, 3 weeks tomorrow and I am definitely starting to shed 😭. Dreading the next couple of months, but all part of the process I guess!!

I am a few weeks ahead of you after 3001 grafts with Dr Bisanga.

I started to shed from just after 2 weeks.

i wouldn’t dread the next couple of months , it’s part of the process and I’ve really become use to how I look.

Coming up to 7 weeks for me and the redness has really settled down.

I’ve kept my hair short as it blends in much better , I will start to grow it once I start getting growth from the transplanted hairs.
Not a single person has asked if I’ve had a transplant! I was dreading work etc but I wish I hadn’t stressed.

Yeah your original intention was mine as well as that's how I've always styled my hair but I think a trim could really help. I'm curious what your guidance was on buzzing hair?

In the materials I got post-op it specifically says not to buzz the recipient area for the first 5 months but the donor is clear to be buzzed after a month.

I was ok to buzz my donor after a month.
I don’t have as much growth as you  yet from my procedure so I just snipped the ends of the longer strands .
I would need to check what I was informed but I’m pretty sure it was another month after I could buzz my native hair.

I've been debating the right time to get a haircut. If I do it now or maybe wait until closer the the third month.

Any advice or thoughts from others on what worked best for them?

    Hi RWG

I am a good few weeks behind you after having frontal work by DR Bisanga.

it was always my intention to grow my native hair back as quickly as I can to try and get my comb over to cover up the procedure however I have kept it all buzzed down and it blends in much better. Once I start seeing growth I will let it all grow but in the meantime I intend to keep it buzzed down which I am very comfortable with

Does shedding of the transplanted hair ALWAYS occur? I've read it happens 2-3 weeks after surgery. I'm 3 weeks post-op and the hair has not shed and is in fact growing. Is it possible shedding may not occur and the hair just grows directly without shedding? If so, is that a good thing?

Do you have a thread with your procedure ?
be good to see pics ?
    who did your procedure ?

Hi mate great write up and looking forward to see your progress. I have a transplant booked with Bhr at the end of July and have booked to stay in that value hotel. Just wondered what the issue was with it? I booked the large suite room as I thought it may be a little uncomfortable just wondered if it’s something to be concerned about? As it seems so convenient to be able to walk there! Wishing you the best for your recovery and future hair growth!

    Hi mate,

I have recently had a procedure with Dr Bisanga and I stayed at the value stay. Which room have you reserved?

just came across this thread and... wow

i know 3000 grafts is not "a lot" compared to other people here, but the spacing on the donor and such small mark left, i don't think anyone would notice that your donor has been harvested at all!

this got me thinking of going to dr bisanga in the future once i need a top up, and when i have enough to afford his service.

Yet to get my result but the whole Bisanga team were great with me.

    @Whipaway

    Thanks for the update.
Great to hear that you have not been as concerned as "hiding" your head as you felt you would be pre surgery. This is often the case. Many of the anxieties pre op never come to fruition and we worry about many non issues, but such is part of the process.

Redness will fade as you know, so persevere with aloe vera and allow time to run its course.

Great that the first month has felt like it has flown by. Always helps just to relax and not be too obsessive and before your know it, initial signs of growth are present and exciting times ahead.

I look forward to your next months.

    Thanks Ian…

You have been of great support and it really is appreciated.

The months will fly along and exciting times will come

  13. 1 month update.
2 days short of 1 month since my procedure. The first month has flown by and all my concerns of worrying about what folk will think & how will I hide it completely went out of the window ! I’ve really not been bothered and likewise nobody else has been bothered to look or ask. It was certainly better looking before the shedding started and at the moment it looks worse than ever but still not bothering me and I go about my business everyday without wearing a hat (unless it’s sunny).
I do think that due to my native hair growing it makes it stand out more so I’m thinking of buzzing the top, back & sides down a little ? ? ? Thoughts please ?
As expected the shedding started around 2 weeks and continued to do so.
Not all the grafts have shed and although sparse they have slightly grown.
The one thing that both myself and my wife have noticed is that upon close inspection and if you zoom in on the images you can see small stubbly hairs just popping through the skin - these are where I was completely bald so I can only presume that they are very small transplanted hairs that have not shed although they do seem smaller than the transplanted hairs that did shed, maybe I just didn’t notice them.
The donor area looks no different than it did prior to my procedure. If anything it’s become itchy but nothing that bothers me.
The biggest pain is the redness, I continue to apply Aloe Vera and I’m sure given time it will settle down.
On we go … I won’t be obsessing and looking in the mirror to often , I will carry on with my day to day activities and let time pass.

  14. For me mine can’t be native hair - They are where I had no hair at all.
far to early for any growth so I can only presume they are transplanted hairs which have stayed tiny and not grown , although I have not noticed them before.
I’m also not gonna think about my hair for a couple of months, best to get it out of your mind and let time pass.

1 Month Post-op. The shock loss + first time Minoxidil use shed is real but I can already seem some small dark hairs sprouting up on and near the hairline (can't see from photos) so hoping that is new regrowth already but not sure if it's still too early for that and I'm being overly optimistic.

    Looking good.

Do you think the little sprouting hairs that are popping through are transplanted hairs that did not grow as long as the others and they have not shed ?

I am 3 weeks post surgery myself and I have similar. I haven’t noticed them before so they do look like fresh hairs popping through but it’s obviously to soon. Maybe they are just more noticeable because the hairs that were longer have shed ?

  16. 12 Day update.

I have stuck to the post op after care of applying the shampoos and creams.

It was a nice feeling to wash off the scabs.

Pics of both transplanted area and donor - side pic of donor area not the best due to me having lots of grey hair in this area.

Congratulations on finally taking the plunge! As you said the key is to follow the post op instructions perfectly, make sure you're getting some rest and relaxation time to recover from all the stress & then try to put it out your mind until you start to see the results. Then it's time to just enjoy as each week goes by :) - all the best with it!

Thanks buddy & thanks for your help prior to my procedure.
