Thank you for your arguments. I will consider this.
Why do you think anybody else will notice that I had a surgery? I saw results even from cheap hair mills that looked incredibly good (of course I will stay away from hair mills).
As I said my only fear is to have more recession only a few years later and this is mainly the reason why I ask for advices.

I wouldn’t be afraid of a second and also third surgery, if it would be after around 10 years and the third after another 10 years. And of course if my donor is good enough for this.

Hi Marvin. Thank you for your feedback. What do you mean by ‚make sure that you‘re not too aggressive‘? Result from @capillus incrementumlooks very good to me 🙂 I would agree that his pre op situation is similar to mine.

To be honest Dr. Bisanga is a little bit too expensive. I considered Dr. Bicer, HCL or Dr Bruno Pinto.
I have to figure out if it’s really necessary to go the best. I have an offer from Dr Gökhan Gür who charges 1,25€/Graft and I only see positive feedback about him.

When I started my research about Hair transplant I was almost sure to go with what you call hair mill in Istanbul. I didn’t know it is such a sensitive topic and there are many things someone can do wrong.

P.S. Photo was taken in Munich at the Oktoberfest. It is definitely one of the cheaper Lederhosen. 😃

    Hey, thanks for your feedback.

When did you get your hair transplant?
You said you waited 3 years and it didn’t make a difference. That’s also what I think of. Why wait when you can have that appearance improvement now and it won’t make a difference to wait? 🙂

To be honest, I don’t really care about the 6+ month until the results are visible. As I know you are allowed to wear baseball caps after a few weeks?

Why you think you have to pay 10k+? As I replied to Marvin above I considered to go to Dr Bicer, HLC or Dr Bruno Pinto. They are all at 2.5-3€ as I know. Feedback from HLC was I would need 2000-2500 grafts.
I visited a surgery in Berlin (not the best one I guess). They suggested only 1800 grafts. Probably they would not achieve a high density with this assumption.

No way you'd need that many grafts. My recession is the same pattern as yours and was much, much deeper. Took 2,600. Don't get ripped off. Below is before and after.

Oh wow, I checked your posts and we have very similar hairlines! Mine is slightly more receded but very similar in terms of shape. I'm 20 now and I think I'm going to wait at least 2 years before I start contacting HT clinics.

In regards to haircut, I have pretty long hair right now, around 15 inches. And it's definitely not helping with receded temples. My hair is normally wavy, close to curly, but now that my hair is longer it's making my hair almost straight. Which is really bad for "hiding" recession. Going to get a haircut for the first time in 3 years very soon, any suggestions on shorter haircuts that you tried before your HT that worked well? Any hair products that you would recommend after I get the haircut?

    Cheers!

I think you're making the right choice. You're right though, 15 inches would draw attention for sure. I think when it's shorter, people don't "look" for the classic hiding of a receding hairline, and it's just more natural and it doesn't even register with people. As far as product, I use a Redkin Brews working paste. I'd talk to a hair stylist and see what they think for a good haircut. I go with a short on the sides and slightly longer on top type of fade myself. I like it because you can mess with the length until it looks right. Good luck!

Take a look at @Axels case, I think you two have similar baselines.

I would say find a surgeon that works for you. I was impressed with Freitas, Couto and Pinto for lower Norwood’s.

Its not only about being a cheapskate, you gotta have realistic expectations and plan for the future. Never limit yourself to budget and geography.

I think our hairlines are similar, but I would keep in mind that he's 19 and I'm 31. That's a huge difference in age. Right now, since OP is waiting, I can't recommend enough a shorter hairstyle. Having long hair exacerbates the issue. With shorter hair, I NEVER had anyone say anything or had any issues with girls etc. It really doesn't look bad, honestly. It was mostly just a minor complaint for me that I wanted fixed since the cost to do so would be less than 10% of my savings. Give the haircut a try while you're saving/waiting and see if it doesn't change your opinion first, then you could wait several years before "needing" to do anything. I'm not saying give up on surgery, but no need to rush it. 👍🏻

    Thanks I appreciate the response.

My immediate concern are these gaps.

4 months is still pretty early, you'll have to wait another 8 before you could have another surgery. It's see what you end up with, mine looked very bad at 4 months initially. I'd book a second procedure with Hasson and Wong or someone else reputable, then cancel if you are satisfied with the results by the time your appointment's date has arrived.

I found some new photos of donor, but can’t edit the original post, so here they are:

Looks great! My timeline is really similar to yours, I'd be thrilled if I had a similar result. I went with Hasson and Wong and noticed they used almost exclusively doubles and triples for my hairline. Did your doctor do this? I heard that singles are necessary at the hairline to prevent a "pluggy" look. My hair is wavy and has always been styled down, so not sure that's an issue, but I was curious nonetheless.

How long did it stay like that?

    Here's my progress so far

Three months or more. Don't worry, you're on track. The top pic is at around three months. It takes a really long time for it to grow and when it does, it looks bad. The bottom pic is 4 months though and you can see the difference. I wouldn't even bother checking your hair for a month or more. You'll be fine though, way too early 👍🏻

My original thread, outlining early pre and post-surgery photos.

The current situation - here is a video. There is a large linear area spanning the length of my hairline that has a gap. It has shed large amounts of hair, and in some spots, baby bottom smooth. Not even a hint of a hair follicle. I've never seen shedding like this before.

    Should I be concerned?

I've attached a screen shot of the video.

The yellow lines are the implanted hair, which has remained consistent and grown in length. The white question marks are the empty areas.

Like this? I think it's normal. Mine looked rough after 2-3 weeks, completely smooth. Looks fine now

  8.         ***Four Month Update***

Seems to have come in pretty good, density is nice for the 4 month mark imo. No one can tell a difference from my natural hair. I do wish the hairline was a bit less straight, but it's fine. We'll see how it looks once it's completely done growing, but I like the density it is now really. The bottom 3 pics are pics of before the procedure, four months ago.

Lol those are pfsfoundation funded studies by Dr. Irwig who is a complete hack. OP I understood not wanting to use finasteride but you need to do a bit more research about Irwig and the pfsfoundation. Finasteride would never have been approved by the FDA if 92% of men were getting erectile dysfunction.

Here is some context about Irwig and the pfsfoundation:

    https://youtu.be/ykk3UVyeCiA

The Irwig doctor was only involved in the first study I posted? The other three links were unaffiliated. I don't have any bias, just posting what I read. I'd also like to say I don't think the FDA can be viewed in a positive light after decades of controversy. The U.S regulatory agencies are notoriously poor compared to other countries, particularly vs Europe. However, I'll definitely check out your link. I'd hate to be quoting someone that has an agenda. Were there issues with the methodology or study designs in the other links? The last link in particular was from this year and established a link between altered epinephrine levels from finasteride, leading to ED.

I'm not one to simp for finasteride or deny its side effects given what it's done to me, but those stats listed are ridiculous.  I think the transplant will turn out great.

You think the article is non-factual? All the links listed are peer-reviewed studies by doctors. I don't claim to know anything personally, but I like to base my ideas around evidence. Obviously these studies can only list results from the population in said study. So numbers can be higher or lower in reality, but the studies themselves are solid overall.

Regardless, I don't want to turn this into a finasteride debate. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I'll post some more pics in a couple weeks. 😄
