  1. Here's an update! Everything looks good. My hair is pretty wavy so it may look like there are some spots that are thin, but it's really undiscernable when my hair is pulled back. Great job imo, I'll be going back in 10 years for a touch up I'm sure. Might use Konier if it's a small job.
  2. No way you'd need that many grafts. My recession is the same pattern as yours and was much, much deeper. Took 2,600. Don't get ripped off. Below is before and after.
  3. I think you're making the right choice. You're right though, 15 inches would draw attention for sure. I think when it's shorter, people don't "look" for the classic hiding of a receding hairline, and it's just more natural and it doesn't even register with people. As far as product, I use a Redkin Brews working paste. I'd talk to a hair stylist and see what they think for a good haircut. I go with a short on the sides and slightly longer on top type of fade myself. I like it because you can mess with the length until it looks right. Good luck!
  4. I think our hairlines are similar, but I would keep in mind that he's 19 and I'm 31. That's a huge difference in age. Right now, since OP is waiting, I can't recommend enough a shorter hairstyle. Having long hair exacerbates the issue. With shorter hair, I NEVER had anyone say anything or had any issues with girls etc. It really doesn't look bad, honestly. It was mostly just a minor complaint for me that I wanted fixed since the cost to do so would be less than 10% of my savings. Give the haircut a try while you're saving/waiting and see if it doesn't change your opinion first, then you could wait several years before "needing" to do anything. I'm not saying give up on surgery, but no need to rush it. 👍🏻
  5. 4 months is still pretty early, you'll have to wait another 8 before you could have another surgery. It's see what you end up with, mine looked very bad at 4 months initially. I'd book a second procedure with Hasson and Wong or someone else reputable, then cancel if you are satisfied with the results by the time your appointment's date has arrived.
  6. Nope, I don't do anything to my hair except brush it back when I get out of the shower. Sometimes I'll put some gel/cream in it, but it's just wavy not super curly. This probably makes it easier to have a better result from a transplant like this, I'm hoping anyway.
  7. ***6.5 month update*** It's only been a month, but I'll do an update. Better density already and I also have a lot of half inch hairs that have come in, so it seems new hairs are still growing.
  8. I think that what you have now, is what you can generally expect to be left with in the end, perhaps some slight improvement.
  9. Also interested in an update. If you are dissatisfied with the result I'd chekc out Hassan and Wong. There were certain aspects of their attention the the patient that were lacking, but the actual hair graft placement and procedure were excellent and I'm very happy with my result at only 5.5 months.
  10. ***5.5 Month Update*** Here's another update with some pics. I'll probably wait till 8 months for another one.
  11. Looks great! My timeline is really similar to yours, I'd be thrilled if I had a similar result. I went with Hasson and Wong and noticed they used almost exclusively doubles and triples for my hairline. Did your doctor do this? I heard that singles are necessary at the hairline to prevent a "pluggy" look. My hair is wavy and has always been styled down, so not sure that's an issue, but I was curious nonetheless.
  12. Three months or more. Don't worry, you're on track. The top pic is at around three months. It takes a really long time for it to grow and when it does, it looks bad. The bottom pic is 4 months though and you can see the difference. I wouldn't even bother checking your hair for a month or more. You'll be fine though, way too early 👍🏻
  13. Like this? I think it's normal. Mine looked rough after 2-3 weeks, completely smooth. Looks fine now
  14. Here's a pic from above. Top is new, bottom is before. Hard to tell, but if you look closely, you can see it's just fluffy on the bottom one. A lot more natural and dense looking now.
  15. ***Four Month Update*** Seems to have come in pretty good, density is nice for the 4 month mark imo. No one can tell a difference from my natural hair. I do wish the hairline was a bit less straight, but it's fine. We'll see how it looks once it's completely done growing, but I like the density it is now really. The bottom 3 pics are pics of before the procedure, four months ago.
  16. I never had to hide it, I just left it the same length as I always had it on top. It's wavy so it just kind of sits there with a tiny bit of paste. If you look at the earlier posts, you can see the first days/weeks after I had the surgery. At this point, it's grown in pretty much, so it's almost indistinguishable.
  17. Lookin good so far imo. I'll post some pics later today or tomorrow
  18. The Irwig doctor was only involved in the first study I posted? The other three links were unaffiliated. I don't have any bias, just posting what I read. I'd also like to say I don't think the FDA can be viewed in a positive light after decades of controversy. The U.S regulatory agencies are notoriously poor compared to other countries, particularly vs Europe. However, I'll definitely check out your link. I'd hate to be quoting someone that has an agenda. Were there issues with the methodology or study designs in the other links? The last link in particular was from this year and established a link between altered epinephrine levels from finasteride, leading to ED.
  19. You think the article is non-factual? All the links listed are peer-reviewed studies by doctors. I don't claim to know anything personally, but I like to base my ideas around evidence. Obviously these studies can only list results from the population in said study. So numbers can be higher or lower in reality, but the studies themselves are solid overall. Regardless, I don't want to turn this into a finasteride debate. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I'll post some more pics in a couple weeks. 😄
