    The clinic isn’t saying much.

    asking to wait

somehow they created an illusion of frontal look as better

though not in the photos but in mirror it looks covered at least in the front

but in light the bald spots are visible

I’ve heard on YouTube where doctors say it can take up to 18 months to see full recovery so I’m praying that it might be the case

I'm gonna be honest dude. Yes, it looks failed. 5500 grafts were definitely not enough to fill this area but this looks like the work of closer to 1500-2000 grafts.

There are a lot of people in this thread claiming to know how verteporfin treatment will work and even how the potential follicles will behave, despite it never being tested. If it hasn't been tested, you do not know. That's literally why we do tests.

At any rate, I've procured some verteporfin and will be starting my own test on myself this week (deep microneedling of the thinning area).

Would you also be trying a bald area (i.e. temples)? It's quite possible microneedling works without verteporfin on thinning areas.

I'm on oral minoxidil, which is supposedly a mild AR blocker. I'm going to try pyrilutamide. Also use saw palmetto tablets sometimes+keto/SP shampoo. So I'm not completely off medication. It would have been nice to use a 5AR inhibitor, but I can't seem to tolerate it.

Yes, I have super strong beard/body hair and I do not have high expectations. I can grow a beard like Bin Laden(maybe not the best person to compare to but you get the idea) and have body hair as thick as bear fur if I don't trim it down.

This is my hair 4 years back at 23 before starting minoxidil and after bit of TE. It's not a whole lot worse today(may actually be better), but it was better little later after TE improved and minoxidil worked for sure.

I think your best shot is to go with Dr. Pittella and see what he says.

That’s what Dr. Barghouthi is using, so it would be consistent. In a sense, I represent multiple doctors as the admin of this site. I don’t think that would break any ethics. If I can get my hands on several bottles and distribute them to multiple surgeons that would speed up the process ten-fold.

Agreed, I would recommend trying both medchemexpress and adooq in that case -- as that is where the people in the telegram have had success ordering.

What if I represent a doctor. For example, if I order it on behalf of Dr. Pittella?

I think it doesn't hurt to try -- say you are the doctor's assistant and looking to order verteporfin. I think the main issue is I don't know if most doctors would be comfortable using research-grade verteporfin.

Lol that's my point dude. He DID do it and no follow up or no comments from the patient. If the guy knew to track down Barghouthi for Verteporforin surely he's aware of the rest of us on here. Why no updates? And why no full FUE this time around either? This is starting to make me think this is just a fundraiser project at this point

lol people are never happy. A few months ago, people were complaining that a second trial wasn't being done. Now people are complaining that a full FUE wasn't done. People should be extremely grateful for what is being done, and if they want to see more, they need to either volunteer their own scalps or their own money.

Please dm me the information to order Verteporfin. I will personally buy enough to supply multiple surgeons. That’s my pledge.

I think the issue is that besides Bausch and Lomb (who have been giving visudyne to several doctors for vert Ie Dr. Qazi), all other sources of Verteporfin are research grade and would require you to be unethical about acquiring (ie you would need to say you are a doctor)

I'm sure many people would be happy to test it at home themselves. The problem is people can't get verteporfin.

It is not difficult to order verteporfin is someone is determined. Many sites sell it and you can just claim you are a clinic if you truly want it. It's more that people aren't willing to go the extra mile to acquire verteporfin. I am in a discord and telegram with several people who have done this for scarring (no one has done it for AGA yet though iirc)

  9. 9 minutes ago, CureSeeker said:

    Yes, this exactly.

We're in uncharted territory, so none of us really know. We can speculate on plausible results though.

Not only have we not tested verteporfin much, we haven't even done tests with de novo follicle generation in human skin, because no therapy has successfully done that yet. Assuming verteporfin can, we don't know how those brand new follicles would behave in comparison to old, degraded follicles. It could be that any single follicle needs a decade of DHT exposure before it starts to miniaturize. That would be awesome.

However, I don't see why to waste a doctor's time doing this when any individual can just try this at home via deep microneedling. All the evidence supports that the highest chance of success is the way Dr. Barghouthi is doing it currently, so I would rather optimize that first.

I disagree here. I could be wrong, but I believe any new follicles would be created to be the same as those surrounding it. It's not a hair creating serum. If you had a scar on the palm of your hand and you put verteporfin on it, it's not going to create hair on your palms. It looks at the surrounding cells and creates new ones based on those. So if you get a scar on your scalp and use verteporfin on it, it's going to create new tissue to be the same as what is surrounding it. If the surrounding hair follicles are thin and miniaturizing then that's what the new follicles will be. At least that's my understanding based on what (little) I know of other research into cloning and cell regeneration. I hope I'm wrong and I admit I haven't been following this enough to know for sure. If there is evidence of something else, please let me know.

I think the answer is we just don't know. I am sure that any new follicles that will be created would be DHT susceptible as those surrounding it if verteporfin is put in the recipient zone. The question is whether they start over from "scratch" or damaged like surrounding hair.

Thank you.  Fyi, Doctor P wants to use up all remaining donor hair.  (He said best case is 5,000 grafts.)  Then, he wants to take literally all my beard hair (on my face AND under jaw line.  Estimated total grafts after surgery would be 10,0000 to 12,0000.  I sensed by our conversation that he isn't a big fan of body hair.  It's a last resort for him.  He explained that the growth cycle is different, etc.

Yes, he is right. Beard hair >>> body hair.

Via video consultation, Dr. Pittella said he can restore my NW 7 head.  He seemed confident.  There is a caveat though.  He said, although my donor area is poor, he estimates he can remove up to a few thousand grafts from the back of head.  As well, he will need to remove nearly every beard hair on my face & neck.  (He can leave enough hair to grow a goatee.)  Specifically, my question is:  If "you" were in a situation like mine, would "you" proceed or not? and *Why?   Thank you!

It also depends how much you want hair. If you're generally fine with a balding look, then probably not worth the hassle. But if having hair is something that would make your life better, then it's probably worth considering. I do think that Dr. Pittella would be the best for your case.
