Amazing early results man. Really pleased for you. I have mine booked in for January next year. Very excited but also really nervous already 😬. Emilio and the team have been really informative and amazing thus far. Trying to work up the courage to take finasteride at the moment. Are you using minoxidil at all? Or will you just continue with finasteride and nizarol shampoo from now on?
Don't be nervous about the transplant or the medication. I'm booked with Pinto as well. Already have had one transplant with a different doctor. It's a piece of cake if you're going to a quality surgeon. Also, I'm on dutasteride and oral minoxidil and have had zero issues.

Both photos will need to be in same conditions/length/style to be relevant.

Not a hair explosion, just a general thickening and evening out of growth that brought things from a C- to a B+. A bunch of little changes over ~2 months can have a huge perceptual change.
-
For anyone reading this in future, I'm now nearly 8 months and things have caught up. Pretty happy so far, but still have some uneven/patchy spots. Hoping for more growth in the next ~4 months.

Rubber gloves worked for me after I took a few swipes at my donor in my sleep.
-
Donor looks great, but wow, solid growth already. This will be a home run for sure.
I'm now booked with Dr. Pinto myself. So impressed with how professional and communicative the clinic has been so far. Will be watching this thread closely!

Looks like you're on track! How long did you wait between submitting your consultation form/photos and hearing back from Dr. Pinto with an assessment?
-
My first week post-op looked absolutely immaculate, clean and dense, actually probably the best I've ever seen. I healed very fast and with zero issues. Now I'm at 6 months and my growth has been not great so far. I realize things may kick in in the next 6 months, but as of now, no relationship between post-op condition and growth.

I'm not too sure to be honest, sorry.
I did cover this on the previous page of my thread though if you have a look, but basically, I also got that same template e-mail response where I was told that they weren't taking on new consultations right now. I just replied back and asked if there was anything they could do, which worked for me to sum it up.
Trying to contact the patient advisor directly on WhatsApp will be your best bet.
Thanks, had a brief convo with them on WhatsApp so hopefully I will get the green light to send photos and get an evaluation soon, in which case I will be watching your thread closely as I definitely will be going with Dr. Pinto for my 2nd surgery.

Is Dr. Pinto accepting new patients at this point? Both him and Ferreira seem to only be taking initial contact info without offering a full online consultation form...

Thank you for posting this, I'm very interested in Dr. Pinto's work. In some ways I think he is very underrated.

I am definitely over thinking it 🙂, but I think that's pretty normal for most people who are about to undergo this surgery. I would love to back home asap following the surgery but the flight from Bangkok to Melbourne is 9 hours - and the thought of being on a plane for that long a couple of days after surgery isn't appealing.
My flight was 8 hours, I left the day after surgery. Went to the airplane bathroom every hour to spray my head with aloe solution. Just made sure I had an aisle seat toward the front. You'll be fine!

You're probably overthinking everything if you're doing FUE and it's a good doctor. You'll likely be sitting around for those 7 days wishing you were back home in your own bed. Again if it's FUE with a good doctor then you should be able to fly home day after surgery without any problems.

I dont get it how some people want to stay 5 days extra, oh my god.
Same, I flew home international the day after my FUE. Unless you're really careless, it's pretty hard to bump your head on something. I didn't wear a hat, didn't really care that complete strangers who would never see me again might see my gnarly scalp. In reality nobody even took a second glance at me. I just wanted to get my ass home.
@Spaceguy Thanks for the thread, would love to see continued updates. I will likely be going to Ferreira to finish off my surgeries.

Virtually all the scabs have none gone apart from the small one at the front, no itching at all now but i've got a few spots and red patches which i assume is normal?
You may develop itching in your donor as it starts to heal, mine kicked in after a few weeks or so. After I took a huge swipe at my head in my sleep, I ended up going to bed with rubber gloves on until everything calmed down.

Yes i thought my midscalp was quite thick but once wet and combed back it was visibly thinning as seen in the below photos comparison wet vs dry
Yep, I think a lot of people look at cases from Lorenzo et al (assuming Dr. F is deriving his approach from Lorenzo to some degree) and wonder why these use "so many" grafts compared to other docs. Well, they tend to address the areas that are beginning to miniaturize, too.
8 hours ago, Shart19 said:I am currently really struggling with excessive fibrin which looks disgusting 🤮 Hopefully doesn't cause any grafts to be pulled out!
Did Dr. F prescribe you anything for that? I had the same issue and my doc (not Ferreira) prescribed an anti-fibrin.
-
Good writeup, thanks for posting. 3,217 seems like a lot of grafts, but I guess Ferreira likes to go for bringing midscalp density way up while doing the slick bald areas of the hairline (guessing your midscalp thinning is only visible when wet and combed back, right?). Lorenzo does this too.

The plan was actually 6000 grafts, but ended up with 7000 grafts, but Dr Zarev did not charge me for the additional 1000.
That's incredible. Not out of the ordinary for a clinic to give you an extra 100 or so, but 1000!? Zarev sounds like a really impressive surgeon, all the way around.

I hope so. I remember that extracting started every day at 8.00 in the morning and finished around 12.00, then lunch and around 1.00 p.m. starting implantation. Which means that between extraction and implantation of first grafts it was min. 5 hours. If they didn't have the grafts sorted according to the time of harvesting, it could have been even more. Theoretically, it could have happened that the grafts harvested in the morning were implanted late in the evening. Apart from the above, it is clear that my very poor result was due to low graft survival and that Asmed lied when claiming that the result is normal or that the discontinuation of finasteride after 18 months since surgery was behind it.
Is it true that you stopped taking Fin? If so, did Couto make you start it again before having surgery with him?
-
Wow. Well, obviously Couto will leave you much better than he found you. Do you have any idea of how long you waited between extraction/implantation at Asmed? I didn't go to Asmed but felt like I was waiting quite a while between phases of my surgery...

Looks good, but he didn't really have that much hair loss

At 90 days, it seemed like nothing was happening. At 4.5 months there was a big difference and I was able to style nicely with use of concealer. At 9 months I want to say I've reached full results. But Idk. Could even make a case for eight months.
Thanks. I'm at 1.5 months and no matter how many times I read stuff like this, it still almost seems impossible that I could have hair in 3 months

Don't worry, you're set. You will look good in another 4 weeks, can almost guarantee it. Your growth looks very consistent and even, and I think that's really the biggest sign to look for. At 3-4 months I could already see where my problem areas were going to be.
