Your hair loss looks pretty similar to mine, if not better off.  I just got a a 2,380 graft FUT from Konoir earlier this month.  So you may be overestimating your need with a good doctor who can make the grafts go far.  I'm actually just a couple years younger than you, similar hair color and skin tone... so yeah, I don't think you need 5,000 personally.

    Thanks for the help.

How long did you find you had to wait?

edit: Nevermind, saw the question was already answered.

Let me first say that for 38 you're looking great. :) If you improve your hair (which is honestly not as bad as I imagined from your first post), you'll cheat a couple of more years.

That donor area looks really healthy too. :) Seeing how you keep your hair medium length, a FUT scar shouldn't be a big issue.

Hey, thanks partner! Taking the pics forced me to look at the top of my scalp, and I was feeling a bit down until I read your post. Thanks for making my day a bit better!

Well and nicely said. Do not be afraid, I will!

Last comment in this thread: Maybe you should look for FUT too, if you aim for 5000 grafts in one setting! Not many clinics (and non of the discussed) can/will do this with FUE (and more often than not, those who do it, shouldn't do it).

Good luck and this is honest without any sarcasm. Fighting hairloss is an long and ugly road and we are all on it.

Thanks. The FUE vs FUT bit was very helpful info

Maybe you are the one overreacting to my post 😉

Well, than everything is OK and no need for further discussions.

But how can I learn this from you initial post? The majority of inexperienced patients behaves unfortunately just like I described (and your initial post sounded terribly familiar). Just check the 1000s of repair cases in the www. Therefore, I think it is better to speak open and direct.

Better a discussion before than sorry afterwards.

Good luck with your research and your procedure.

Then allow me to be direct. I'm more interested in constructive advice than I am in the sanctimony of those whose top priority is impressing others with the breadth of their wisdom and experience. You strike me as the latter. Kindly jog on.

Maybe I do, maybe not. And that has nothing to do with @JohnAC71 (as he recognized himself). I say this all the time when someone comes with such a request. Even if Melvin would recommend a clinic, I would say so.

The TO might have done a mistake before (at least this is what I get from the initial post) and now contacts the first clinic mentioned by someone he does not know. What if he recommends one of the hairmills and they react nicely (what the usually do as this clinics often have a strong marketing team)? I have seen this here and one other forums/places 1000 times. If I am wrong everything is OK. But this is a dirty business and inexperienced patients are harmed every day.

By the way: Panine is not high on my "top" list and I haven't seen him high on anyones list.

Don't burden me with your personal assumptions. I haven't made a mistake, nor was I planning on handing over cash to the first person I spoke to. Find someone else to wag your finger at.

Do you really trust your own head, with a comment from a random guy on the internet (no offense @JohnAC71)? And do you really would buy a car only "from Chicago"? No? Why do it for your own head?

It is your (!) head and you should do some research and look at some patient posted results. The only (little) short cut is to look into some of the 100s of "Best HT surgeon" threads in here. There is a recent one which lest several top clinics (one of them actual in Chicago).

Of course not. I'm looking for options and to be pointed in the right direction for further research. My post stated a preference for proximity, but not at the exclusion of the best options. Not sure why you would interpret it differently.

  7. Hi.

I've had one previous FUE surgery, that was probably around 800-900 grafts on the front of my scalp.  This was about 8 years ago. Since then my hair has thinned more on my crown and mid scalp.

my donor areas are nice and thick, so there's plenty to work with. I'd like to take a big whack at it and get the whole situation sorted with 5k grafts or so.

Can anyone help me narrow down the Dr.'s I should be looking at, in terms of quality and value? I'm in the Chicago area. Locally would be nice, but i'm not opposed to traveling for the best deal.

    thanks
