I would recommend to talk to Hattingen (Dr. Muresanu). I am a Facial Plastic Surgeon myself, and he is honestly one of the best in these cases.

Congrats with a very Nice result so far. How kong did it take before you showed your hair in public?

Hi!
I would like him to talk about wich patients with servere hairloss ( NW 6-7) he recommend FUT over FUE. If one look away from the time aspect and nr of procedures; can you get the same cover with FUE if you do 2 procedures without thinning the donor too much? How does the age of the patient affect the choice of procedure?

Yes it was between Norwood 4 and 5
Looks very nice, looking forward to see rest of your story. Thx for sharing, important for us juniors.

Hi,
Sadly only the clinic has the pre-ops. Yes, it was a Norwood only. I didn't have enough grafts for the middle.
Thx, looks like a nice result so far. Do you know if you where Norwood 5 before the transplant?

Yes, but he must be willing to accept that he will need to continue using fibers after surgery. Many don’t wanna do that, which is reasonable, but not realistic when you’re that far gone.
So you mean every NW6 an 7 needs fibers? I guess it depends on demands and expectations.

Thx for the writeup. I’ve booked Hattingen i nov22. Do you have preop photos? Are the grafts just in the front? Norwood?

Looks very nice. Do you have issues with the scar, or is it just fine? Are you planning/feel the need for another transplant? Thx for sharing, I hope I will get results in your league…

@Havar thanks for your reply, but one FUT (scar) is one too much. Never again FUT for me, it is so much more invasive and the time to recover is at least double of FUE. Also a world-renowned surgeon like Dr. Hasson told that FUE has passed FUT and is the new standard. Furthermore, nobody really wants the ugly scar at the back of your head.
For me, one more FUE combined with a repair of my FUT scar is the only option. And I guess Hattingen also would do this if I decided for them.I understand. A fut-scar is of course a longer scar, but if you have got one already, Hattingen could give you more grafts, and a nicer scar at the same time without getting more scar around( Fue also causes scar and thinner hair).so my best advice is to talk to Dr Sever M, he is a honest and world class surgeon. He knows what the best solution is. Just consult him; and have a open mind. All the best🤞💐

@Egybut I've never seen any reputations/recommendations about them so far. You are welcome to convince me otherwise.
EDIT: Okay, I found a few nice results, maybe I will put them on my radar👍 But it seems that they might be more experienced in FUT🤔Exactly. That is why you should contact them. You already have a scar. They can use Fut to max your donor, and you do not get another scar, probably just a nicer than you have. I have done a lot of research myself, over 3-4 years. Check them on Bellicapelli( (Italy), french forum ( internstional hairtr.forum) and Alopezie( deutsch).

Amazing🤩 this is just perfect. Thank you for sharing-helps s lot 🙏💐Looking forward to my journey 🤞

Wow! So natural, you must be very happy! I am looking forward to november, I will be happy with just 50 % of your growth-amazing. Do you have to comb the hair very «carefully» in s special way to get so nice result; or does it look good also in the morning 😅 thx again for sharing-helps us juniors a lot 💐

Yeah I thought so as well. Annoying, really. It looked so promising right after the HT, healed well etc so not sure what can prevent the rest from sprouting. Would be interested in any medical reason why transplants do not grow if so. I expected if there was an issue I would have lost them during the shed phase but I really didnt experience much shed per my view so did they eventually just "die" in the scalp ? (even that should show any hint, no ? Its just... nothing visible at all).
Patience is the key man, a lot happening in the scalp that you do not see with just your eyes. Stress will give you nothing.

Amazing results. Is there any chance you can share the cost per graft or fut overall?
Hi, I have been through it. You can easily check the cost by looking at the clinics website; it is totally transparent .

Hmm, great question. Pls dont get me wrong, but I lost the correct data about this😁
But I did measure it in my home a few weeks ago. Its not correct in a single mm, but its 33 cm long. The number is more or less the same as far as I can remember when Laura was telling me about sizes. Well, thats pretty big. If you segment it in three parts, every strip is at least 10 or 10cm+ long.
As for the strip in the back it was 2.5 cm thick, what is considered to be also pretty big. As far as the side strip lines go, Im not really sure and I dont want to guess. Maybe I can ask the doctor again next time.
Also my operation was considered to be a "max strip process" since that was my wish. First impression via skype was 5000 fut grafts, after my live consult Sever told it would probably be 5500+. In the end was 6000+. Ofc scalp tension played a role in this. I did those exercises some 2 months prior to operation. I would reccomend anybody just to type this in Yt and one can see a guy called Doug that explains everything. He is probably still an employee of H&W.
Thanks for the nice comments. I would agree that if i dont improve a lot from this, I would still be satisfied.
No more hair piece!!!!
Fantastic! I have booked Hattingen in nov 2022, please update us with more photos in some months!

Thanks for your clarification
What is your opinion about the concept mentioned below; is it possible?
In the fut method a strip of skin for example 3000 grafts is cut then all the 3000 grafts are extracted from that strip to be implanted. So I ask if this approach is possible is to extract the 3000 grafts from the same strip on your hard without cut the skin out of the head so the area of the strip will be fully blank of hair on your head then we can implant 1000 grafts from beard on this blank area. By this way we take the advantage of fut method where we only extract a from the save zone and preserve the donor above and below this strip for 2nd procedure ; avoid getting linear scar from fut and implant scalp hairs which have a better density than beard in the frontal and mid scalp area instead of implanting beard hair in the mid scalp.
I am not an expert, but it is not that easy to switch between FUT and FUE. One of the adventage with FUT is that you can dissect each unit in the microscope and slike it up so you can take 1 or 2 hairs as needed. If you do FUE there must be som distance between each graft; there must be som «skintissue» even if it is tight to the FU. The hairs are so close so it is easier to hurt the hair next to. The quality of the extractions will be lower. It will also be so much scartissue, that the blodflow would most likely not be good enough to make the beard grafts survive in the next session. I am not sure, but it makes sense for me.

you are right I am convinced about what you said above. but if one can do fue first then can go for fut so I do not understand why people recommend do fut first then finish with fue and this should save additional 3000 grafts than do for fue first. As I understand from the people here the benefit of fut first is to maximize the donor for the amount of grafts that would be available in the future. So I want to get clarification for my miss understanding.
All surgeries gives scar, also FUE. The scar makes the next surgery more difficult. The scar gives less blodflow; makes the hair left behind more vulnerable. So; if you do FUT first; the rest hairs will be normal, exept the ones close to the scar. If you do FUE in a bigger area, you will get weaker hairs in a big area and probably more difficult to do a nice dissection of the strip, but also more difficult to dissect each follicular unit. FUT first is the best solution, if you acept linear scar.

As in life in general it is smart to be open minded, maybe it is not just one answer to a problem. It is always easier to be certain if your knowledge is limited. The most important is to choose a good and ethical doctor, the method is secondary.
