Hi everyone, I started taking Finasteride and Minoxidil after my HT last September. In May I started taking Loniten, an oral form of Minoxidil - the idea is that this is more effective than topical Minoxidil so I can eventually stop taking the Finasteride.
Recently i have been experiencing sleep problems - waking up in the middle of the night and being unable to sleep. I'm wondering if it's linked to one of the medications, or both.
Has anyone else had these problems when taking Finasteride or Minoxidil? I'd be particularly interested to hear from Loniten users as that's the one I started most recently.
Thanks!

Hi everyone,
I posted this same question in a previous thread I made, so sorry for the duplication. Thought it might be better in its own thread.
I had my HT eight months ago. Love the results but have noticed libido loss.
I've taken my finasteride usage down to one tablet a week and have taken a break from minoxidil but plan to restart soon.
Does minoxidil have any effect on libido loss? And if so, are there any forms which don't suppress the libido?
Thanks, Gareth

any HT requires a hair length and even layering to look fuller/denser, I think Melvin is just suggesting as your result comes it, will look better if you let it grow out as it will be a better WOW factor, you should be in for a great result, I really like the conservative hairline design - I also use Minox foam in the morning, applied right after my shower and hair still wet, should be no problem - best of luck growing!
Thanks for the kind words! I just keep it short because we're in lockdown so it doesn't matter what i look like now, and it makes the Minoxidil application easier. But will stop cutting it soon.

I would advise you to let the top grow out from this point forward.
Thanks for the advice. Why is that though? I try and keep it short to make it easier to apply the Minoxidil

Sides subsided within a month.
Thanks, will try this!

Switch to topical finasteride/minoxidil combo. Still effective, but without the systemic absorption so basically no side effects. I use Morr F and it works well for me. Feel free to PM me as well if you'd like.
I'll send you a message, thanks!

Hi everyone, I've been on Finasteride for a while now and have had the dreaded libido drop. I've mentioned it to my surgeon Dr Farjo and in light of this conversation have reduced my weekly dose from three half-tablets to two, but it hasn't made a massive difference.
Can anyone offer any tips to manage this particular side-effect?

I appreciate the words Gareth, I read once that if hair loss is the biggest worry in your life, then you have a pretty easy life. (Sometimes I need to focus on the bigger picture of enjoying my 20s instead of worrying about what I will look like during/after!)
Exactly. Such wise words!

It's not noticeable AT ALL. And if it ever becomes noticeable - well, you've seen that you can get it back. Now stop worrying and enjoy life!

It's already happening and I feel that the use of current and potentially better future pipeline DHT blockers will become part of a hair transplant plan. What I hope does happen in the next ten years is that start up third world chop shops disappear and that more regulation becomes part of a hair transplant plan as well. I also see a need for better counseling to be part of this industry too and perhaps laws and better recourse for improper practice.
Definitely. It has to be better regulated.
Also, hair cloning seems like a major growth area.

Hi everyone,
I'll make this short and easy to read as this is my first post - I've been diffuse thinning since 18 years old, and decided to take finasteride 1mg from around 19 (I am now 24 turning 25 shortly).
I have attached images to the post so you can see the progress of my hair loss, the first image that has 4 pictures is back when I was 18 years old (sorry for the awful quality) and the other two are from present day. My worries are that firstly I am too young to look into a hair transplant (I've been looking at getting a consultation with Dr Bisanga & Dr Reddy once lockdown is over for advice) and secondly, because I am diffuse thinning - I'm probably not the best candidate for a hair transplant.
Hair-loss has really effected me confidence wise unfortunately, so any advice is welcome and I appreciate you taking the time to read. 😄
A lost cause? You've lost a tiny bit of hair, if that!! No worries!
Just remember that the options are available if you ever need them. And they're getting better all the time.

Hi everyone, the clinic I went to for my HT (Farjo in Manchester) offers a hand-held laser and its relatively cheap. Was thinking of getting one to boost the growth process.
Has anyone got any experience of using these?
Thanks, GP

15 weeks ago (Sept 22). Went into the surgery at start of Dec and they suggested focusing the minoxidil on the non-recipient area though, because the recipient area was still quite red.

Because the scalp was getting irritated.

Thanks guys!

Hi everyone, wanted to get your advice on how to apply Minoxidil. I've got both drops and foam, and want to ensure I'm using it correctly.
I store both of them in my bathroom cabinet (i.e. Not refrigerated) and my surgeon (Dr Farjo) has advised me to keep the minoxidil away from the recipient area, which is at the front of my head.
So when i apply the drops, i sprinkle them over the crown area of the head and rub them in gently. And when i use the foam, it's the same: i apply to the crown area and rub in slowly.
Is this the correct method of application? Would be get to get people's take.
Cheers!

Cheers guys! I didn't do any exercise for the first 10 days and kind of eased back into it from there. Still taking it easy on the shampoo though. Trying to limit it to once a day. Cheers, Gareth

Hi everyone,
Had HT at Farjo three months ago, so still at an early stage.
Am wondering - can anyone give any advice around how to manage the scalp and hair during exercise?
I work out quite a lot - two or three short bursts a day around my work, with a mixture of running, short gym circuits, cycling and occasional football matches. So lots and lots of showers!
At the moment I'm limiting shampoo and conditioner to once a day - the other times I just wash my hair with water - and apply the water by hand rather than the showerhead. Also, try to avoid heading the ball when playing football, although I've forgotten a couple of times!
Is there any advice people can give around how to manage the scalp and recipient area when working out?

Hi, sorry, just seen this. Didn't notice any great change in my hair after going down to one tablet tbh.
