This forum has helped me so it’s only fitting I write up a decent and honest review of my experience.

When looking for a doctor I was looking for one one in my budget as well as a doctor who put out consistent results. Doctor Demirsoy checked off a few of my boxes with budget, consistency, as well as performing most of the surgery. Also what stood out was he does one surgery a day and has been doing this for over 20 years.

I knew going into this more then likely I wasn’t going to get mind blown results. For starters most of my work was being done on the hairline and he’s far from being a hairline king. He’s also very conservative with his hairline approach a little bit to much for my personal liking but I did speak to him before his surgery and told him exactly what I wanted. Also most of his results aren’t over the top amazing. There consistent but most are not grand slam caliber.

When drawing the hairline Demirsoy drew up a very conservative hairline and I was like yeah I didn’t travel all the way here for my hairline barely to move. He lowered the hairline and I told him I wanted a rounded hairline no V shape. He made some adjustments I noticed that the marker was a little bit off on one side but I assumed that would
be corrected. Instead of a high dense pack hairline, he recommended it to be spread out so I don’t have areas of my hair being inconsistent in terms of density which made sense.

Surgery went fine nothing really to report. After surgery I went to use the bathroom I noticed that my left side of the hairline/temple was un-even. I told the doctor as well as his assistant and he pretty much dismissed it quickly. Didn’t even check. He said it’s from the swelling. I took the doctor’s word and didn’t push it any further.

After a few weeks go by and the swelling is gone can’t help to notice the uneven hairline. I reached out to the doctors assistant he tried explaining it but I wasn’t really buying what he said. Some will say natural hairlines are a lot of times uneven. Which is true however I’m paying for this and I didn’t want a uneven hairline. With one side rounded and the other one not. It bothered me still does but no point of getting annoyed over spilled milk as there were other issues to follow.

Anyway then came the waiting game. During this time I suffered and I mean SUFFERED from Neuralgia. Wow barely could sleep. Barely could get comfortable. Shock waves thru my body. This lasted about 2-3 weeks. If your experiencing this. Take B3 vitamins.

I was using baby shampoo and then switched to Nizoral because the dandruff was intensifying. This stuff works immediately. My dandruff was gone in just a matter of a week or two.

I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves.

From first pre surgery to currently. Majority of pictures are taken with me coming out of the shower so my hair is wet.

Maybe I was expecting too much from one surgery? I don’t know I’ve seen post with people with a lot less hear getting much better results.

Maybe I thought I had a more hair then I really did have?

Maybe I needed a second surgery regardless?

Or is doctor Demirsoy just a mediocre doctor with Mediocre results?

This was doctor Demirsoy response as I was not pleased with the density in the front.

“ The donor area hairs can be effected from dht. The low yield can be low because of this .after the transfer of the hairs it can be that some of the hairs not survive .Under the skin sometimes can be a lower blood circulation  which not support the transplanted grafts 100%.

it must be thicken on a second surgery ,he can help you by making a second session .

Sometimes finasteride not works 100% and it can be that the hair loss still continue .If you wouldn’t use probably the hair loss would continue rapidly.

The front can be thicken on a second session .It is possible to increase the density on a second session. “

I didn’t even respond back. Would never go back.

I am closing in in my 3rd month post FUE recovery. So the pain is still fresh in my mind. When it comes to pain, best to keep it at bay with meds than trying to make it subside after onset. I know this from having dental work done in the past and injuries. As for how long it lasts, here is/was my experience:

My surgeon gave me about a week's supply of pain meds and a prescription if I needed more. I didn't take the pain meds during the first week and dealt with the discomfort from FUE for the first week. During the 2nd week, the discomfort was moving towards crossing the threshold into the onset of pain. I jumped on the meds and kept it at bay. By the 3rd week, there was some serious discomfort and I ran out of pain meds but it did not cross into pain. Felt like being too close to a campfire that I couldn't move back and away from. I did lose some sleep from this. There were serious bouts of itching during this week however. By the 4th week, the discomfort was displaced by a feeling of numbness and the occasional piercing shard of intense pain. Felt like a worm burrowing under parts of my scalp. By the fifth week, my entire scalp was numb upon touch. Seems the recipient area had more atypical sensation than donor area. Shards of pain became less frequent but started to be felt in areas not touched by the surgery. After the 5th week, pain/discomfort/numbness was still prevalent to some degree, but didn't bother me any longer. Interestingly enough though, I watched a horror movie during this time. And during a shocking scene, I could feel the hair standing up on the back of my neck. What a jolt that was. It was also during the 5th week that I started to use the aloe vera gel 98% stuff. The first few times I applied it, I could feel stimulation of the touch nerves washing out the ringing of/from the pain nerves and it felt so good. During the 2nd month, the value of the aloe vera became less and less as I was healing rapidly. I still apply it everyday anyway. Now close to 3 months, I would say I am about 80% normal in scalp sensation. That remaining 20% is due to bouts of non-intense but persistent itching and shards no longer of pain, but striking brief bouts of discomfort. I've read others say that at 5 months, everything is back to 100%, though I am not there yet.

Out of curiosity, what did your donor look like immediately after surgery?

My donor looked great. I didn’t have any concerns in regards to the pain until the 4 or 5th day in my donor area. I started to get concerned because my donor looked too normal for me to be in the pain that I was in. Thats when I was aware that this was neuralgia that I was experiencing.

Some of the worst sleepless nights of my life. I thought my head was going to fall off. It lasted for a long week and a half.

i still have mild symptoms but nowhere near as before. Even though the pain started to wear off I started taking B Complex yesterday just to make sure this doesn’t come back.

Pain was so bad I’m not even sure if I would want to do another surgery if needed down the road. One member on here had it by it a few years. I couldn’t imagine going through life waking up everyday like that.

This usually kicks in a week after surgery if one suffers from it and can last a week and as you say is worse at night. This is occipital nerve pain and you can take pain medication for Neuralgia, apply cold aloe vera, massage etc and it will pass. Vit B tablets also help to heal nerves.  This is common and I had it once personally badly in 2006 and no-body knew what it was so I researched and got informed and it is indeed in the post op document that we give people.

Trust me it will pass and I have had it and dealt with many patients who had it and all of them had it pass exactly as I said. I don't post now but seeing you were in pain I wanted to chime in!

Here is a quote from the document we provide as standard

"Some may experience pain in the donor a week after surgery and pain killers, vitamin b tablets and applying cold aloe vera to the donor area will help relieve this. "

Relax and do as above and you will heal okay!

The response I was looking for.

    Thank You

i have been applying cold aloe Vera (plant) to my donor area.

At times I almost feel after applying it that my head has a buzzing feel to it. The other night was some wild shit, I had no idea what was going on.

  4. 8th Day in and passed few nights I’m experiencing some crazy pain in my donor area.

The way I can best describe it as pins and needles sticking me or someone constantly poking me. Especially when I lay down to go to bed at night I feel it the most since I’m putting pressure on the donor area.

is this normal and how long does this last?

That's good.  How many days post-op are you (FUE or FUT)?  Do you have any skin irritation going on in the recipient region?

    Thanks.

    4 days FUE

Just minor swelling and obviously itchy as hell.

@AnimaII think the gel is better to apply and control and has a better cooling effect. Do not have much experience with people using the juice itself.

    Thanks again for the help.

Do a test on your forearm first to see how your skin reacts to it.  Some people have allergic reactions to it.

Thanks I actually did that and didn’t have a reaction at all. Just want to make sure not to put something on the graphs that could potentially damage them.

  7.  Covid has really made this so much more frustrating.

My original appointment was back in April and my flight got canceled.

    i rescheduled for October.

Now I found out the other day from the airlines that my departing flight leaves first thing in the morning instead of much later in the evening.

this throws a huge wrench into the post op visit. I reached out to the doctor and he said that he will go over everything with me  before surgery in regards to the post op visit and a few days after surgery to remove the bandages.

He said it’s been done before by other patients. I just wanted to see if anyone else has had any experience or knows the extent of how important the post op visit really is.

Also obviously if I can’t make the post op visit should I ask for money off the surgery?

Also I really don’t want to rebook. I’ve taken off 2 weeks of work for this and rather just get it over with instead of keep putting it off and rescheduling for something else to come up.

    any help would be appreciated.
