  1. Hello, I had my second hair transplant around 7 months ago (~3600 grafts, half from the scalp and half from the beard). I'd appreciate it if you could help with the below: - At this stage (7 month post-op), how much further improvement can I expect going forward? (given that this is my second procedure and half of the grafts are from the beard) - My scalp got sunburnt at 7 months post-op. I know sun exposure is generally not ideal, especially during the first couple of months. Should I be worried at this stage or is it okay? Thanks
  2. Is it okay to use hair fibers 3 months post-op? There are a lot of different opinions all over the internet. My doctor said 6 months but I don't see a reason why I cannot use them at this stage given that everything is healed and there is no redness. Would appreciate it to hear your thoughts or own personal experience with this. Thanks
  3. Thanks @TorontoMan So let's assume I decide to start applying topical minoxidil again now, would it hurt (cause shedding etc.)? The plan is to apply it topically for the next couple of months to stimulate and increase the rate of growth then I might completely drop it.
  4. Hi everyone, I had my second FUE around 3 months ago. I'd really appreciate it if anyone can provide their advice on the below questions: 1 - I am still shedding a good number of hairs from the recipient area even after almost 11 weeks. I believe they are mostly transplanted hairs. Is that normal? 2 - I stopped using topical minoxidil around 2 years ago (after using it for around 10 years). I felt it wasn't adding any benefits. Would it do any harm to start it again at this stage? I was advised by the clinic but I'm afraid I won't be committing to it long term. I am on Finasteride. 3 - When can I start dermarolling and do I need to do it with a topical medication? 4 - I have developed a flaky scalp which is causing some itching. I use baby shampoo. Any recommendations on what I should do? Thanks!
  5. Hello, I've seen that most people shed their transplanted hairs between 2 and 6 weeks post-op. I am 7 weeks post-op, I think I still have some transplanted hairs and I am still shedding every day. Is that normal? And at what stage does the shedding usually stop? Thanks!
  6. Hello, This might be an odd question but as the title suggests, I'm planning to have dental surgery (teeth extracted) around 1 month after my hair transplant. Can it affect my results? Is there anything to worry about or consider? Thanks.
  7. Hi, It's been 3 days since my hair transplant and I have an extremely oily scalp (I usually have an oily scalp but this is too much). It can be because I haven't had my first wash (I'll be doing that tomorrow with water only as per the doctor's instructions). However, I wanted to ask whether this is normal. Any advice?
  8. Thanks Melvin. Yes, that was my question. Ferreira and Pekiner do everything themselves - the techs and nurses are there just to assist them (separate grafts etc.). This is what I was told. I think HLC are the same but the fact that I don't know which doctor assessed my situation and who will be doing the procedure put me off a bit. Thanks for the information on HDC though. How was your experience and how are the results so far?
  9. Hi all, I'm a high NW who previously had a hair transplant (not a very successful one) and I'm now looking to go for another one. I've been in contact with Dr. Ferreira, Dr. Pekiner, HLC and HDC. I am more inclined to go with either Dr. Ferreira or Dr. Pekiner because they do everything themselves. I don't have much information about the procedure with HDC. Whereas for HLC, the doctors who will perform the procedure is decided after consultation. I believe Dr. Ferreira's responses and assessments are unmatched. It feels like he really takes his time to evaluate his patients and gives very detailed and tailored feedback. Dr. Pekiner also seems very meticulous, takes his time and relies on BHT, which is something I need given my limited donor area. Based on the above, I am looking for advice on whether there is a big difference between these 2 doctors (I believe both are very good at what they do), and whether HLC and HDC are in the same league. I am very concerned about my donor area and would like someone who is experienced with high NWs to take extra care when dealing with it. Any advice would be highly appreciated Thanks
  10. Any advice on Dr. Taleb Barghouthi? I see he is recommended here. Does he do a lot of repair work/second procedures with high Norwoods?
  11. @SeanToman I am not sure it completely stopped the hair loss but I think it has definitely slowed it down and made the hair thicker.
  12. @Egy I haven't heard a lot about her but just did some research. Does she do all of the surgery herself (like Dr. Ferreira) or is it just supervision? @Doron Harati Will do! @JoeMan I'll check with Dr. Pinto. Do you know if he has experience using beard grafts? I know Pekiner does.
  13. Hello, I've had a hair transplant of 3,400 grafts to the hairline and mid-scalp around 5 years ago when I was 25. The results have been average and I've lost a lot of native hair ever since (would've been a NW6 without the transplant) because I wasn't on Finasteride when I decided to go for surgery. I have been on Finasteride for the past 2 years now. The main issue with my previous hair transplant is the donor area - I feel like it wasn't properly managed and is depleted in some areas, mainly above the ears. My previous surgeon mentioned at the time of surgery that I would have another 2000-2500 grafts for future transplants but I'm not quite sure about that. The plan is to use beard and chest grafts (because I have plenty of those) in addition to grafts from the back of the head. I am now in the process of choosing another surgeon and prefer to go for 2-3 small surgeries to address the hairline/mid-scalp and add some grafts to the crown, all while maintaining uniformity in the donor area, which is extremely important for me. I spoke with Dr. Ferreira who provided me with a detailed assessment. I really liked his honestly and approach and felt like he would be a great option. However, I believe he increased his prices and has a long waiting list. I was planning to pay something between (~EUR 2-2.5/graft). In addition to Dr. Ferreira, I have Dr. Pekiner (who also increased his prices), HLC and HDC on my list as well as Eugenix, but the latter seems to be doing multiple surgeries per day, which I am not very comfortable with, and going for Dr. Sethi or Dr. Bansal would exceed my budget. What do you think? And do you have any other suggestions? Thanks
  14. Hi everyone, Bumping this thread again. Is it okay to take 1.25mg/day instead of 1mg/day? I'm splitting 1 Proscar tablet into 4 pieces and I have some concerns over whether taking more than the recommended dosage is not desirable. Any one has experience with that? Thanks.
  15. Thank you everyone for your responses. I will try to find an old picture before I started Finasteride and upload it along with a new one to compare. Having said that, I noticed that I easily lose 250+ hairs everyday and I believe this is a lot given that I've been on Finasteride for over a year now and the fact that my hair loss is very advanced. This is what is making me think that Finasteride is not working. For example, whenever I'm showering and running my fingers through my hair, I can see around 20-25 hairs each time I do that. I can also see around 20 hairs on the pillow everyday when I wake up. 95% of the time, they are short ones as I mentioned earlier (so maybe from the donor area or miniaturized hairs from the crown/donor area).
