I had an FUE done 6 months ago and there are three gray hairs in my hairline. The transplanted hairs were not originally gray but all black brown. I emailed the doctor and he said that occasionally the hair growth cycle and pigmentation cycle may not align. Has anybody else experienced this?

I have a bit of psoriasis around my donor area and I’m wondering if a hair transplant will move the psoriasis to the recipient area. Has anybody have experience with this? How will psoriasis in the donor area affect the hair transplant?

One of the things that makes me anxious about hair transplant surgery is designing the hairline itself since it's permanent and you're only spending a few minutes on it before the actual surgery. How should I think about this? How should this factor into clinic selection? Why are the estimates 33% different? Thanks!

It surprised me though since some very reputable US surgeons perform two per day. They of course stagger them. Perhaps one FUT and one FUE?

I have a fear of needles, blood, and holes and I’m very squeamish watching the HT surgery videos. This is why I’ve been putting off surgery for so long. What advice do you have for someone who wants to get a HT but has a fear of surgery?

I’ve been researching hair transplant surgeons and one of the differentiating factors of some clinics is that the surgeon stagers the surgery so he can have two patients per day vs just one. In either case, the surgeon performs the extraction and site creations while the techs pull the grafts, QA, and implant. Should performing two surgeries per day be a concern for me?

I’m looking overseas for a hair transplant and I’ve contacted a few clinics in South Korea, but I’ve been getting push back for a video consultation with the surgeon. They instead insist on email or phone with the consultant/translator. They of course will see me in person, but that doesn’t seem reasonable for internationals. Is this normal? Should I insist on a video call with the surgeon before booking surgery? This worries me if getting in touch with a doctor is so hard, what happens if something goes wrong afterwards?

@paddyirishman what aftercare did you have? Why was it better than local? I’m thinking 3/6/12 month post op follow ups.

Yes, I'm on fin and min. Both have helped stabilize the hair loss.

I've noticed that many people on this forum travel away from their home, sometimes even internationally, for a hair transplant since the doctor who can offer the most natural results at a price point they feel comfortable with may not be in their backyard. I wonder though what are the potential downsides. What happens if you get bad results or malpractice, what kind of recourse do you have against an international doctor? In the US you can at least navigate the legal system and bring a case against them. In Korea or Turkey, you don't even speak the language. What happens if you get an infection? What kind of care should I expect from the doctor after surgery? Is post op care really necessary? What else am I missing? I've researched a few clinics outside the US and sometimes the language barrier and response times are a bit slow. If this is the case now, I wonder how my post-op communication will be since I've been reading some international clinics ghost you once you've paid and had your surgery. Should I be concerned? I've gotten estimates of needing 1500-2000 grafts. I've already consulted with Dr. Diep and decided against him for a variety of reasons. Thanks in advance!

But I stopped to wonder, is there really much difference between the top, let's say, 10% of hair transplant surgeons? At what point does it make a difference? The top 1%? And if so, what are those differences? Thoughts?

Hey gang! I'm curious to hear any opinions on Dr. Jino Kim at NHI in Seoul. He's apparently trained by Dr. Rassman at NHI in LA, apparently follows the same protocols, and there's some sort of relationship between the two. I couldn't find any patient reviews, since I assume they're mostly not in English. I did look at the videos on his YouTube Channel and they seem pretty impressive. Thoughts?

Hey @Melvin-Moderator, I didn't mention anything about the race of the doctor, but rather the patients they treat. Presumably doctors in South Korea predominantly treat Asian patients and so I wonder if that means Asians would get a better result by going there.

Hey community! I'm a 33 year old Asian male. I've noticed that my hair loss has been asymmetric, more on the right compared to the left (photos are mirrored). I haven't been able to find other people with similar experience and so I'm wondering if this is MPB or some other condition. History & treatment: My hair loss started when I was around 26. I noticed hair falling off in the shower and on my pillow and it was mildly progressive. Friends started noticing when I was 28. The loss is more of a thinning and not yet a recession of my original hairline. I began minoxidil (nightly) when I was 29, followed by LLLT (292 laser cap, 30mins 3x/week), Biotin (10,000mcg daily), and dermarolling (1.0mm) when I was 30, and lastly finasteride (0.5mg/day) and oral minoxidil (2.5mg/day) when I was 31. I'm 33 now and have been very diligent with the medication and treatment ever since. I've noticed stabilization and mild improvement (~10%). Thoughts? Should I consider a hair transplant?

Many of the HT doctors in the US seem to primarily operate on non-Asians. As a Chinese American, if I'm trying to get the best results and a natural looking hairline, should I look for doctors who operate mostly on Asians? For example, should I be looking outside the country, like in South Korea? Any advice is appreciated!
