Be careful not to overuse Nizoral or its other variants, as other posts have mentioned on this forum.
I was in a situation where I had to use it for dandruff issue (SD), and it nearly ruined my hair.
Became brittle and just thinned out after a very amazing life-changing HT by one of the top docs.
I agree not to overuse it. ( one shouldn't overuse anything ) However, I have dandruff issue and it helps me better than any other shampoo, plus I have been using it for years and my hair and scalp seem pretty healthy.

Yeah initially 2% felt great to me too, made my hair look great too until I started to lose my nicely transplanted results from Dr. Hasson..

Here is also advice from Spex.

Gotta be careful about the 2% in particular.
Hi hsrp10, where is this post from Spex you are referring to? The link you posted takes me right back to this thread and I can't find any posting from Spex.
Thank you

It's surprising to hear that Nizoral is a harsh shampoo. I found the 1% harsh and irritating, but the red 2% feels pretty good to me.
To my understanding, the 1% version has 1% of ketoconazole and the 2% has 2%. How would the 2 % which has double the amount of ketoconazole be less harsh than the 1%?
Ketoconazole shampoo after hair transplant
in Hair Restoration Questions and Answers
Posted
I've had hair transplant 3 weeks ago. My doc told me it is fine to use a shampoo with Ketoconazole in it after the second week post op. However, I just read some posts here from people warning against use of Nizoral or Ketoconazole containing shampoo for as long as 8-9 months.
I have used Ketoconazole (not Nizoral but another brand containing Ketoconazole, I believe 1% ) for years and it completely helps with my dandruff (SD). Now I'm a little hesitant to use it even though I'm 3 weeks post op.
Does anyone have any actual information that supports not to use Ketoconazole containing shampoo post op?
