How does it looked combed back or to one side? It looks like it’s kinda spread apart. Have you spoken to Dr. Gabel about your concerns? I’m truly sorry, on the bright side, it definitely looks like an improvement.
My recent pic will show it combed together. I havent spoken to Gabel. Not sure what I'm supposed to tell him.

I have to agree that 1800 grafts over that area isn’t going to show much of a marked improvement.
Sorry it hasn’t worked out that well, but maybe you could have another Ht and have more grafts next time ?yeah seems like getting a 2nd one is a likely route. wasnt planning to get another one for a long time. Unfortunate.

It's easy to tell that growth did not yield that high.

I received 1800 graft FUE transplant from a well known Dr Gabel in the US in mid December 2018. I'm writing to provide my 2.5 year post transplant update.
I've had some minor growth since then but its definitely much less than anticipated. There is still a large bald area that I need to comb over and use Toppik on.
When I mentioned my concern for the lack of growth around the 8 month mark, I was told to be patient and keep waiting as most transplants don't show the full results until at least 1.5 years. Well, it has been 2.5+ years and I think its safe to say that this will be the full extent of my growth. I never received my 1 year check up from Gabel even way before this whole Covid situation.
I know Gabel is highly regarded on these forums and I will probably get flamed for posting this but this is just my experience and my results. There seems to be a lot of positive results from Gabel, however, I am not one of the lucky ones.
Would I have spent all of this money if I knew that this would be the result? Not sure. Flights, hotel, unpaid time off work, 3-5% fee for using credit card. This was a large cost for me for minimal gain. The price was also increased from the quote I received a year prior which is understandable since prices change the more popular a Dr gets, however that hurt as well.

I really wish I could have written a glowing positive review with positive success, but as you can see, my results are lacking. I believe Gabel and his team did provide quality customer service and made me feel at ease during the whole operation and hope anyone that decides to go with him will receive better results.

I don’t mind, but please send me a private message with your name and date of surgery so I can reach out to him. If you have public concerns we have to let him address those concerns publicly as well.
Thank you. I would prefer to stay anonymous. As I said earlier, I don't have a grievance with my procedure just yet. I am waiting the full 12 months before being able to accurately judge if this was a success or not.

It looks like you have some good growth already, but it is clear that you are not done yet. At this point, you are only a little over half way there. I suggest growing out the top a little longer and wait until 12 months to re-assess. I have seen a lot of guys throw dirt on their doctors name only be happy by 12 months and have to apologize to their surgeon. Be patient.
Do you mind changing the title to include Dr. Gabel please?

Do many people experience large growth during months 8-12+? Am I basically close to my full potential or is there still hope for growth?

Yikes. That's more than I was quoted from a few different doctors.

Yes, that is why I didn't want to give the Drs name out just yet. Still got some time and I definitely hope to get more growth and be able to properly give credit where it's due.

given the area to cover you would need 3 times the graft amount to get good density imo
Wait until a full year passed and have another Fue to increase density
That to me already sounds like a problem. I was told that I would have great results from this. And would not need another for awhile. You're telling me I should get another fue surgery right after the 1 year mark? Most results don't fully show until 12-18 months?

The front half of my head was transplanted. I've attached more pictures.
I've talked to Dr. Gabel about my concerns and he says to continue waiting. I want to see what you guys think of my progress so far. A lot of his other patients on this forum have way thicker hair by this time which is what worries me.
The Scab picture is about 3 days out, short hair is 10 days, and the long hair pics are as of today 7/30. Definitely making progress.. just not nearly as fast as I'd like and as fast as many other members on this forum.

1. Please share some pictures so we can give you some opinions
2. Go ahead and name the doc. Y r u hiding his name and protecting him if you are unhappy with the result?
Pictures attached. Sorry not the greatest quality. Longer hair is before surgery. short hair is about a month ago. I'll submit new pics later this week.
It is Dr. Gabel. I wanted to wait the full 12 months before making a judgement about his work. Wanted to see what you guys thought of the progress so far.

I received 1800 graft fue transplant in mid December 2018 from a well known Dr Gabel in the US. I have not really grown that much hair and honestly looks like I've less hair then before the transplant. I've recovered a little bit of hair since the ugly duckling stage but still not that much of a result.
The Dr thinks that I'm a late grower and says fue usually takes longer to grow than fut. Being this far in the timeline im worried that my surgery is not going to yield much results.
Are there people that grow a substantial amount in months 8-18? Many people usually have big results by now. I've been in fin and min for 3years and use nizoral once a week.
-
I'm in the same boat. Getting close to 7 month mark and not really seeing any results. Hoping some changes happen soon. 12 months+ is so long to hope for results. Especially frustrating seeing people get results in 4-5 months.

Hey ThePeoplesElbow,
Hang in there, things change very quickly after the 3 month stage.
BTW, Did you have your procedure with Dr Gabel ?
I plan to post my progress pictures when I hit 4 months.
-kelmf01
Hi Kelm.
Yes I did. I think I got some shock loss. Just reading horror stories from other people is making me paranoid. I know it's still too early to tell. I think seeing skeeters 7 week progress picture gave me unrealistic expectations though I know everyone's different.
I did run into a little hiccup that has me worried. I had an infection and had to be prescribed a stronger antibiotic which fixed the infection. I'm hoping I didn't lose my grafts from that.
Guess I'll just have to continue to wait and see.

Hey kelmf
How's the ugly duckling stage coming along? I'm currently in the stage too and it's killing me. About to hit 3 month mark.
-
Are you continuing to use rogaine?
-
Hey Skeeter. Did you continue to use rogaine after your surgery? I might have missed it.
-
Your hair looks amazing! Do you know if your 1 month shed pictures is similar to how your hair looked before the surgery? Was this how your hair looked pre op? Or did you shed more than you were at baseline?
-
Hi Skeeter,
Any luck on finding pictures before the op?
How long did it take for redness to go away?
Gabel - 1800 Grafts FUE 2.5 Year Results

It's been 2 years. Don't think I've ever received good results compared to a lot of other patients that went with Gabel. If a hair transplant only looks good after 1 year, after 3 transplants, you'll be bald again? I would hope that a transplant should last longer than that.
