  1. I had FUT on this Wednesday and on my way out was handed a prescription for Provecia 1 mg daily for 90 days with four refills. It might have been discussed with me but I do not remember due to sedation used. Is this a standard practice? My next birthday will be my 70th and my native hair has been stable for a LONG time.I am ambivalent about adding another medication to my regimen.

  2. I am having FUT with Dr. Diep in a few weeks and have been offered three options about which I will appreciate any feedback. These options are:
    1. Injection of high dose corticosteroid to reduce swelling

    2. ACell injection

    3. Amniofill

My hunch is that Amniofill is for FUE donor area and perhaps irrelaevant. I have gotten corticosteroid shots a number of times for poison oak and seasonal allergies. They were always effective and caused no problems. I am not sure about the ACell. I have an area of thinning that still produces long hair that light can shine through and I am thinking that he may suggest ACELL there in lieu of graft.

    Again, all comments are welcome.

  3. The "steroid injection" is described as being for reducing swelling. Unlikely but possible sided effects mentioned were essentially identical to consents that I have signed for  prednizone injections for poison oak and kanalog for allergies. I am assuming it is is a corticosteroid and they typically do help with inflamation but, most probably, not with the accumulation of ansesthetic fluid. I have read that Dr. Nader also does this. These medications, used occasionally are pretty safe and I have less of an issue with this that the a-cell and amnio fill.

  4. So, after a fairly long absence, I am scheduled with Dr Diep in five weeks. Today I received my consents in the mail. Among the questions are whether I wish to receive these three items along with a steroid injection. I don't have many reservations about the steroid injection but am unsure about the others. Any feedback on these additional treatments will be appreciated.

  5. Hello,

I am a new member and am considering hair transplantation, surprise! At sixty-eight, I am quite a bit older than most here. Nevertheless, I am vigorous and still working full time at a mid-level management capacity.

I began losing hair in the crown area in my early forties. That has become more pronounced along with on top.

My hair loss pattern doesn't really seem to fit the Norwood Scale. My forehead has been high since my mid0teens and has receded an inch, at most. The top has maybe 25% fewer hairs but they seem to be normal in thickness and growth. The crown has far fewer hairs and miniaturization in about a 2.5 inch diameter. The crown is what actually bothers me most. the back and sides appear to be of normal density and average thickness. Most of my hair is white or getting there pretty quickly and my skin tone is fair.

I have tried to take photos but have not come up with any that seem to be very helpful. At my age I do not need a young man's hairline although I wouldn't mind it being lowered a bit. I don't need great density. I would like my rown to be covered with hair that grows normally as I had long hair as a young man. I've told friends I want to look like a musician, even an old one!

Any thoughts on my situation will be very much appreciated. I am an experienced traveler, have lived in Mexico, and speak very passable unaccented Spanish.
