  1. /Couple of months ago, I started applying minoxidil + finasteride combination topical lotion 1 or 2 days a week, in addition on other 2 to 3 days I use minoxidil spray.  I also take daily 0.5mg dutasteride. I am seeing grey hairs which I never had and I am close to 40 years. But my question is if this minoxidil + finasteride combination topical lotion is turning existing hairs into grey hair or it is rejuvenating almost dead hairs into grey hairs. Can someone please answer?

Mate, when you say you are Norwood 7, do you mean a fully bald Norwood 7 or a diffuse thinner who had some hairs remaining. If the former, it's one of three problems; (i) doctor(s) is doing something wrong, (ii) you have a pre-existing and undiagnosed scalp infection, or (iii) if it's the latter, you are losing native hairs around the transplanted hairs. In either case, you have very limited number of grafts at Norwood 7, and 3 poor results means it's going to be difficult to get full coverage. I would reach out to a doctor specializing in high Norwoods like Zarev or Eugenix.

I was norwood7 with fully bald scalp with 50 to 100 hairs remaining. They all went into shock loss and never came back after my first surgery. I had surgeries from 3 different doctors.

  3. I was norwood 7 bald by age of 26. I had 4 transplant surgeries. 1, 2 and 4th of them were failures. Recently I noticed my hairs from third transplant done 5 years ago is shedding. I am worried if I will get back those hairs or not. I take dustasteride 1 mg every day. I also apply minoxidil 1 ml every day once. I use laser helmet for 30 minutes  once in 3 days.

  4. I have done 4 hair transplants. I believe my donor supply is exhausted. I want to know if its better to use nape hair instead of beard hair. I have a some degree of retrograde alopecia. But in terms of permanence which one is better. Which one survives longer?  Does nape hair grafts have more than 1 follicle? I feel if nape hair is viable nearly every nape hair can be harvested.

  5. I had 4th hair transplant of 1984 grafts implanted, almost 6 months ago. This is my 3rd FUT and second hair transplant with Dr Diep. Grafts were implanted on mid scalp and crown. Hair were transplanted on a wider area. Results are far from spectacular. But I have seen single hair grafts around 40% has grown to  about 1 inch. I have not yet observed 2 hair grafts growing. I checked my photos taken after transplant, I see majority of them were single hair grafts. But 20% of them were 2 hair grafts. Not sure if there were any 3/4 hair grafts planted.

My question is how long will it take for 2nd or 3rd hair in a graft to grow.

  6. Can you please list out what would result in saving as much transplanted hairs from initial shedding? I feel its good to pursue the suggestions even if it saves 25% of transplanted hairs from shedding, since it helps in getting faster result.
Is using liposomal spray or copper peptide spray beneficial?  Please also suggest, If you know what Doctor can do(like transplanting hairs as soon as its taken from donor area) to reduce initial shedding?
To get faster results what can be done? Apart from Minoxidil and finasteride, does PRP. laser therapy, zinc tablets, multivitamin tablets help? Is there anything else that can help?

  7. Average cost per graft depends on doctor and also location, looks like atleast 4000 grafts to get good coverage in front.

You do not need to travel second time if your transplant does not cause any complications. If you do FUT, then you have to find a local doctor to remove stitches after 3 weeks.  FUT is cheaper and doctors can plant more grafts than FUE. So can get more density in 1 surgery. FUE is costly and requires surgeons to be skillful in plucking hair, otherwise hairs can get damaged and not survive. FUE is less painful and recovery time is faster. FUT you will have headache for first 10 days, pain for first 15 days.

I would not recommend wearing hat for more than 15 minutes. I would not recommend helmet even for a second and also going out in the Sun is harmful for end result. You wear hat only when going out in Sun.

  8. Doctor with whom I had transplant  done told me Dermarolling can cause hair loss. Not sure if he meant to patients who has recently done hair transplant or to anybody in general. Since I am unsure I will not quote doctors name nor I will ever do Dermarolling. In case Dermarolling helps. I still do not think you can do it everyday because it causes tiny injuries and causes more scalp irritation. May be once in 10 days you probably can do dermarolling. Another reason I feel derma rolling does not help is in case of hair transplants scalp needs to be completely healed to regrow newly transplanted hair,  since derma rolling does tiny injuries, if your scalp is always injured not sure it will help.  Sorry if my reply caused more confusion.

  9. I had my 4th hair transplant done on Dec 21 for 1950 grafts. I noticed hairs were getting shed by 10th day. Within a month 100% of transplanted hairs fell along with it some previously transplanted hairs also fell. Only half of shockloss hair have grown. But the transplanted hair close to 15 have sprouted. But all of them sprouted with pimples. In my third hair transplant i got 85% result by 3 and half months. During that time only 60% hair fell in first month. Another thing is my second hair transplant was a failure, even during that time all hairs had shed and only around 250 grafts grew back. In my first hair transplant 75% of transplanted grafts did not fall.  Rest 5% grew back. But the number of transplanted grafts in my first fue transplant were around 1200. So my question is, if all transplanted hairs fall within a month, is it bad for end result? I also recently became diabetic, may be due to this healing is slow.

  10. I went to Hairline international and Venkat charmalaya. Do not recommend both of them. I was norwood 7 bald to begin with. Both these clinics took lot of money. Result was like around 500 to 750 hairs placed in an awkward way. It was laughable. Once, I was traveling in local train near Bangalore, it was crowded. So somebody noticed my weird hair and he immediately asked me about patchy hair on my head and he also asked the price. In India, if you pay more for something, they consider that person as stupid. So when that person asked me for price, I quoted 1/10 of price I actually paid, even for that he and 2 to 3 guys around him laughed and felt I have paid unbelievable price.

  11. I have done hair transplant twice in bangalore, both times it was disastrous. I would recommend you to go to eugenix or Dr Bhatti. Don't waste time in Bangalore. You will end up doing hair transplant again and again. Reason is they will make it look so unnatural that you have no option(cannot shave head also) other than to go for another treatment from reputed doctor.
