Thanks for the update.
I guess its hard to tell with those shots but in 2 of the picuters, the hairline looks a little harsh. Hopefully the hair texture evens out. Seems your recipient is still red after 6 months?

Hey everyone,
Thank you for all your input, I do want to be fair and let you all know that my surgeon did reach out to me after finding out who I was and we had a good conversation in person. I'll give another update once my surgeon gets back with me via email with the pre-op and immediate post-op pics. I forgot to mention that I am 30 years old and Asian, I know different ethnicities have different hair textures. Long story short, we've talked about moving down the hairline just a tad bit in about 2-3 months so none of the multi-grafts are visible. That way I'll be creeping up on that one year mark before a touch up is performed.
I'll say this, for your benefit and hopefully a shift in prospective, but why would you go to the same surgeon after this?
You shouldn't have a HT out of pure convenience. If the right surgeon isn't close, you need to travel. There's a reason why people travel worldwide for their operation. This is your hair and grafts we're talking about, the latter of which is limited.

Did the density improve now?
-
Any updates? Must almost have a full head by now.
-
Wow, did we have our HTs on exactly the same day (Dec 20th)?
Can you share immediate post OP pics?
Not trying to be a downer but the hairline work doesn't look very good (lack of density + pluggy appearance due to several multi FUs at the hairline).

Fast grower, good result already!

This is fascinating. The beard extraction looks painful! But I guess it wasn't?
For using beard as the donor, can't the surgeon extract literally every hair (leaving with you no beard after). If the patient wanted it, could it be done?

What do you think of it? good, bad or average?
Have to wait until the 1 year mark.
I find it interesting because there's a clear gap between the native hair and transplanted area.
You're probably not gonna buzz your hair so I think it'll be undetectable when the hair grows. But i've never seen this design before. Is it something the surgeon recommended to save your graft count or did you decide on this design?

Interesting hairline design.

Have posted a couple of comparison photos for you. The area wasn't very big compared to what some people have had on here.
Wow that's crazy. The area you had done looked so much bigger in the first post.
-
Wow, is it just me or does your hair (not just the transplanted but the native) grow extremely fast for only 6 months?
-
A quick side by side of month 1 and month 3
Can you post the same comparison pic for your left temple as well? But this is looking good for 1700 grafts. Trying to gauge how big/small the area you had done actually is.

It's been some months, any update?
-
Can you post immediate post OP pics instead?
-
Right on time with your 4 month update.
How much would you say the overall growth is now, 30-40% or so?
-
Echoing what others have said I think it's starting to take shape for sure. Post more pics at months 5 and 6.

Updated pictures at 15.5 months out that I have sent to the doctor for refund last Friday. Still waiting to hear back. They did call me last week offering the free transplant again. No mention was made about the refund.
I am not sure why they keep wanting to redo the transplant. Perhaps it is less costly? Regardless I am not going back and am just happy they're at least willing to do 50%. I did sign a bunch of forms that likely said we are not entitled to refund you and anything can happen etc.
Regarding why this happened, he said it could be a number of reasons and he honestly does not know why. He stated he follows the same procedure and uses same techs everytime. They do have good reviews on Yelp and Google so not sure what happened here.
I am currently consulting with a few top surgeons to see about fixing this in May sometime.
I admit it's incredibly frustrating and I still wish I could go back and simply shave my head, so word to the wise here. I will be starting a new post after my new transplant for people to follow. To be completely candid, I am thankful this is fixable and I have the monetary means to do so, but I admit the recovery from an FUT procedure isn't fun and am not looking forward to doing it again. This will be my last one to fix the scar and then if I ever need more I will do FUE.
Hi, what did your recipient area look like at months 3, 4, 5 and 6? I noticed you only posted pics from months 8 onwards but what about before? Reason I'm is asking is so we can gauge the differences in growth during these months compared to your month 8.
Did you notice continued growth up until months 4 or 5 and then no improvements or was your hair at month 8 exactly the same as it was at month 4?
Can you post pics of your recipient area prior to month 8?

I'll let the doctor answer too but I wouldn't think this really has anything to do with the HT process. It's just like he said, the water makes multiple hairs clump together which gives the illusion of more density.
I always like the look of my hair after I get out of the shower but before drying it. One thing I do notice though is I see more scalp because, like he said, the hairs are clumping together.
Yes true. I was just wondering if anybody else noticed the same thing during their hair transplant journey? I've not seen any other mention of this anywhere online either.
-
It also depends on the length. The porosity of hair does not allow for much outward expansion but rather the hairs will clump together making them appear to be larger in diameter, when they are in fact multiple hairs.
Hi Dr. Yes thank you, you describe it well.
Is this a common occurrence during the HT process, or rather did you get a lot of similar comments from your patients?
-
The hair shafts are thicker when absorbed with water and that's why you probably notice what appears to be thicker hair.
Thanks.
Did you or anybody else notice this during your hair transplants?
-
So when I run the shower head over my scalp and soak my hair under the water, my hair looks thick as the water is running on it (presumably due to the water pressure pushing the hair down). But when dry the recipient area looks a lot less dense.
Is this normal during the overall HT journey and did anybody notice the same?
-
Does your hair look thicker when wet, more so than when it's dry? (i.e. when you're soaking the top of your scalp from the shower head)
-
I posted on day 53 and your hair has reached a good length and has gotten thicker in just over 2 months since then. I've 2 questions:
1. In your opinion do you think your hair will thicken up even more after 4 months?
2. Does your hair look thicker in the shower or when submerged in water (when the water stream pushes your hair down)? Or did you ever experience this at any point within the first 4 months?
-
Any update? Did the hair thicken up?

The redness/scarring is also still visible in the recipient.
