I had a hair transplant with Dr. Erkan Demirsoy approximately two years ago and thought it was time I finally share with you guys my thoughts on how it turned out. Arriving in Istanbul was a breeze as they had a driver waiting to pick me up. The driver took me directly to the hotel they provided, which was very nice and lived up to my fairly high standards for a hotel. The next morning an english speaking assistant picked me and drove me to the clinic. I was very impressed with the clinic, everything was very modern and obviously well maintained. I then had a consultation with Dr. Demirsoy. While Dr. Demirsoy spoke very little english the assistant was able to translate very well. I told Dr. Demirsoy that I wanted to regain as much hair loss as possible while maintaining a “natural look.” He said that would not be a problem and he would attempt to keep my hair looking as natural as possible. After that they took me to the next room where Dr. Demirsoy marked out my new hairline and his assistants began preparing me for the procedure. While I was being worked on they had a television on. However,I spent most of the time reading a book on my phone. Dr. Demirsoy performed the extraction using a micromotor punch and the canal openings (holes for the follicles to go into) himself. In total I ended up with 3622 follicles removed. His assistants then inserted the individual follicles, with Dr. Demirsoy occasionally coming in to check up on the status. In total I was at the clinic for approximately 11 hours with a lunch and a few 15 minute breaks. I was then driven back to my hotel where I took a couple pain pills and promptly fell asleep. I went back to the clinic the following day where I had my head cleaned and was given aftercare instructions. I then explored Istanbul for a day a or so and flew back home to the US the next day. As I said at the beginning its been about two years now and I am extremely happy with the results. I was on 1mg finasteride and minoxidil for the first year. for the second year I droppped down to only the finasteride and have not seen any adverse effects.
