  1. I wanted to pose an observation to the forum for response. I have seen several times young potential patients (<30) request on the forums for advice regarding HTs. On many occasions the response has been 'It would be best if you wait a little longer' or 'Continue on the meds for a while' or 'You should get it when you're older to have more enduring / natural results'. The above reasons I can completely understand logically and medically. But emotionally, I cannot. From personal experience I remember aggressively pursuing many avenues to try and reduce hairloss as young as 20. If a Dr had approached at that age, or I was aware of the process and was able to finance a HT then or soon after, I would have drastically changed my hair loss strategy. My self confidence levels were very low, which as a young 20 year old was difficult to deal with. Maybe its the naivety of youth, but I could not of cared less what I was going to look like at 40-50 years old. As opposed to my twenties, at 40-50 I more than likely wasn't going to be; - Living the same young lifestyle, socializing, drinking, chasing women. - Enjoying the most liberating, carefree period of my life with the least responsibilities. - Be living / working in an environment where my appearance has a large bearing on my professional / social success. - Be as easily influenced or effected by the comments of others. And more importantly, by 40-50 I was more than likely going to be; - Less concerned about my self image. - Stand out less as a bald man among the general population for my age group. - Most of all... Have settled into a long term relationship. It was genuinely terrifying in my young 20s thinking that I would never find someone who would find me attractive, at the very least someone who I would find attractive back. My decision making is definitely more influenced by the emotional side rather than the rational. I would be interested to see what the communities view on the issue is. Miso
  2. Hello Hairloss community! I have been monitoring the forums for a while now and have decided to join up and post. Primarily looking for some realistic advice from similar sufferers / liaisons / Medical professionals. I am 26 3/4 years old. Started losing my hair at 20. I started using Fin (propecia 1mg) when I was 21 and Minoxidil when I was 23. My hair loss at that point remained stable. I then got married, decided I was not that bothered anymore as my Wife did not care and stopped the medication. That was 2 years ago. I have deteriorated somewhat within those 2 years. My ambition is to research what a HT could provide to me. I am realistic in my expectations and would want a decent density in the front hairline (fully appreciating that my hairline is naturally very receded and I would only want to fill in the gaps), I expect a large HT would be required. If this is unachievable I am happy to resign to the fact that I was just destined not to be a hair person. I would rather that than have a half, strange looking attempt. Details: Hair - Fine, light brown. Scale - I think Norwood 5, can someone confirm? HT - FUE or FUT Age - 26 3/4. Meds - currently none, but I would have no problem to start again. Dr's - European Dr's / HT surgeons please. Budget - 8000 GBP, give or take. Any recommendations or feedback will be well appreciated. Critical as it may be . Thanks MISO
