  1. Hi Spex There are some photos on my thread here: http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/183459-am-i-good-candidate.html I'm considering fibers also. I'm considering everything at the moment. Some things I have learnt whilst doing my research and reading numerous threads: 1. An HT isn't something to be done lightly. There is clearly a lot that goes along side having something like this done. 2. Not everyone is happy with the oucome of an HT, even if done by a respected and recommended surgeon. 3. Even if the HT does go well, it is very likely that at least one more will be needed at some point in the future. 4. It seems to me a process that once you have started, isn't one you can just stop as to an extent you can end up back at square one in other areas of the head. 5. The ongoing cost. Whilst not the overriding factor, it is a factor. So at the moment I am 50/50. Half would like the permanent (in the areas that it is permanent) result of an HT and I am prepared to spend to do it. The other half of me says continue with Minoxidil, start Propecia and use fibres for a while and see how that goes before undergoing surgery. It's a tough call.
  2. I am 48 and have been using Minoxidil foam for a year or so. I have quite typical MPB. Receding hairline and thinning on top and at the crown. Am I ok to just order and start trying Propecia to stem the loss or do I need to go through some sort of process first? Here in the UK it seems that all I need to do is complete an online consultation and then I can buy what I need. This seems to be the process from some of the more reputable high street stores. Is it ok for just to buy and start using them? If so, are there any specific recommendation of where I should get them from in the UK? Thank you.
  3. Apologies, I have just reposted my question in the Hair Loss Drugs forum.

  5. Thanks. What was his reasoning and what made you proceed if he wouldn't do what you wanted?
  6. There seem to be a number of accredting organisations. Some international and some country specific. BAHRS, IAHRS, American Hair loss Association, ISHRS etc. Should membership of one or more of these inspire confidence as the doctor has to demonstrates a certain level of expertise and experience to become a member? Or, is it just a case that if a doctor is prepared to pay the associated fees then they can become a member. If it is a case that membership is based on experience, which of these should be considered the "standard" by which to go by?
  7. If I am honest, I would like to restore the frontal zone, mid scalp and what ever is possible of the crown. I really don't know at this stage though what is possible and realistic.
  8. And if so, what should I expect? Both in terms of grafts needed and end result. I am 48 and have been thinning for some years now. For the last year or two I have been using Minoxidil foam and that seems to have stemmed the loss. I have taken and uploaded some photos and it is the best light I had available. If I am honest I think this available light did me some justice. In brighter light it looks thinner than this. I have a consultation booked but would interested in the thoughts of those here who have a lot more experience of this than me and have been through this. Just to add, if I go ahead with this I am only interested in FUE. Thanks
  9. Ok, slightly different way of wording the question. To thise who opted for their HT with Dr Reddy in London, why did you choose to see him in London and not Nottingham?
  10. Has anyone used or consulted with Dr Reddy in Nottingham instead of London? If so, then apart from it being more conveniently located for you (if it was), was there any other reason to see him there and not in London? Thanks
  11. Thanks Bill I think one of the things that concerns me the most are the horror stories you read. I know that if you search for bad on the internet you will always find it. However I think even some people on hear deeply regret the procedure and wished they could go back to the pre-op stage due to redness and scarring etc. I guess these will all be questions for the appointment but I still can't help but think they are a business so will not necessarily point out the ones that went wrong, if any. This is a tough call for vanity but I would like a successful result.
  12. I've been reading the forums, reviews, and youtube videos for a while now and today I took the first step and made an appointment for an initial consultation. It is so hard to know where to start when you have no experience and whilst the forums do help you to build a picture, everyone understandably has a different opinion so in a way the more reading you do, the harder it gets. Looking at the various chart images I would say I am a NW 3/4 with a thinning crown. First and foremost I put cost to one side and researched the various surgeons. That has opened a can of worms in itself. I am based in the UK, so in researching surgeons I have had to ask a whole host of other questions. UK, Europe, further afield? FUT, FUE, Artas? Then there seems to be multiple membership organisations of which some surgeons are members and some aren't. Then there are the surgeons that used to work for a chain and set up by themselves so who do you trust, the chain or the surgeon. What a mine field. All that was before I stumbled upon pricing structures. Per hair or per graft. then I started reading about what tools these people use and the size of them!!! Anyway, following several rounds of analysis paralysis, I have decided to follow up and make initial enquiries with Dr Raghu Reddy. I have an initial appointment with one of his team in London next week. Whilst I am a long way from committing to having this done, I hope I have made a good choice. I guess I will know more and will form more of an opinion following the appointment. There were a few reasons I chose this Doc. His website seems to have quite a few examples, certainly more than others and whilst I know he wouldn't display any bad ones, I can't find any bad reviews on him anywhere. I understand that he charges by the hair and not by the graft which from what I read a number of people disagree with, but the most important thing to me is the right result. If the right person charges more then I guess you get what you pay for, perhaps? I'm not one of these people who would go abroad for surgery to save on the costs. I would be too frightened to do that. I would prefer the insurance of a local after care service if anything goes wrong, but that is just me. Anyway, first steps first and if anyone is interested I will update following the appointment.
