  1. First off I have to tip my hat to the forum (once again). If I was not well informed then I may have made a huge mistake as I already had a consultation and doctor chosen with a company that I later discovered was not so reputable. My experience with Dr. Konior and his entire staff was nothing short of outstanding. My surgery took place a few days ago and I am doing great. I have never in my life had any major or minor surgery and I was never nervous, scared, uncomfortable, or overwhelmed by any negative feelings whatsoever. From the beginning Tom did an excellent job of working with my goals, schedule, travel, paperwork, ect... I truly feel that he is a huge piece of Dr. Konior's great reputation as it all starts with him. All of Dr. Konior's assistants were very professional and down to earth, they make you feel very comfortable and explain things very throughly so that you begin and end your procedure knowing exactly what to expect. I must also give kudos to the valium which I have never taken before. The surgery itself went very well as it was pain free. The staff did a great job of communicating with me and keeping me comfortable to the point of where I actually enjoyed the surgery which I think was about 9+. I am a classic workaholic so I have mentioned to several people that I feel like I had a much needed long day of sleep during surgery. I hope to post pics as I am sure I will be pleased with my results. As I am a long way away from seeing my new hair...I would recommend Dr. Konior to anyone and hope to post results soon. Thank you again to all those who publicly and privately sent me words of encouragement.
  2. I wanted to thank all those who take time out of their day to contribute to this great forum. I have found it helpful and especially informative. My journey has brought me to Dr. Konior who will be performing a 1600 to 1700 graft procedure in a few days. I found his reputation to be outstanding and after communicating with him frequently decided he was a great option. Any advice on expectations, pre, and post op would be great. I am nervous which I understand is natural as it is a procedure on my head and permanent. Any advice from people who have had an HT procedure in general or one performed by Dr. Konior would be great. I have read some of the tips on this sites forum but again any advice would be great. Thanks again for all those who have replied through the forum posts and PM, especially Please Grow Please, it has been a great help.

  4. Will do, I am going to call today to talk to the office manager. I am a Norwood level 2/frontal balding. Anyone have any info on Katona or Keller?
  5. Starting Propecia ASAP. Actually making the call today.
  6. Hello all, I have spent the last week reading every possible post I can find on the Chicago area surgeons for an HT. I am a Norwood level 2. Right now I have had my consultation with MHR and being referred to Dr. Katona but I am not putting the down payment or scheduling the surgery until I get more info. Obviously I am completly at fault for not finding this forum sooner, but I am here to correct my wrongs and get some more facts. I see that Konior seems to be the guy and Keller seems to be up and coming. Problem is I am employed in education and the end of July is the latest I can get the surgery since I will begin teaching once the fall semester resumes. Obviously I need time for healing before I begin to lecture. It says on Koniors page linked on this site that patients often have to book months in advance. I have also emailed Keller this weekend awaiting reply (going to call the office monday) MHR (Katona) can get me in late June, so the time frame works, but I am concerned with the reviews. Most of the negative criticism comes from posts back in 2005. Is there anyone who has a more recent experience so I may get a better gauge on my MHR option. Sorry for so long but I want to get informed to the fullest and do my research before making the best and final decision. Thanks for any and all help!
