  1. I just came across 'Texture Powder' in a few videos.  It seems similar to Topik though I don't believe it's one in the same.

I'll post one of the Videos here if anyone is interested. The claim is it adds volume, which is exactly what I could use !

    It starts at around 3:30

  2. What ever happened to the Dr Vories situation a year or so ago ?  I haven't seen anything as to whether he will or will not be reinstated to the recommended list.  And if not why ?  I ask because he was on my short list, and I need to know if I should remove his name and look further.

Is there a process a doc needs to go through to be reinstated, and if so what would that be ?  Or are they just removed and that's it ?  Not familiar with the process as I haven't seen this happen here before.

Id like to see a fellow botched/repair patient as moderator

If a moderator has only had (and only needs) 1-2 HTs and they have both been homeruns, I think it will be hard for them to relate to repair patients.

And vice versa, it will be hard for repair patients to relate to any moderator who has had a very easy journey compared to alot of ppl on here

A pet peeve of mine is one and done community members who think they know everything just bc they got lucky

I very much agree.  Someone who has gone through the 'mill' brings a lot to the table.

If Dr. Vories can demonstrate through genuine patient reviews that he performs ultra-refined, follicular unit grafting with refined singles in the frontal hairline, we will consider lifting the suspension.

Please clarify something for me. It appears from what I've read that the procedure used with @Clarkhas been Dr Vories' method of transplantation prior to his making changes.  If so, and if the criteria for membership is grafting with refined singles in the frontal hairline how then was he first vetted to become a member ?  Has something changed in the interim ?  I find it odd that all of a sudden this has come to light, and was not noted before.

Dr. Vories, but I just read that his membership/recommendation has been revoked due to a very bad job on @Clark's hairline.

Thanks guys, I wasn't aware that Dr Vories was removed. I thought it odd as I recalled him being listed as a member.

That said, I'd think that every doc here has had bad results from time to time. What then prompted his removal ?

As to docs in the Florida region, have you considered Drs Charles and Nusbaum ?

  6. Due to family responsibilities I have to stay close to home. Hopefully making it a day trip back and forth.

I'm in Northern Florida and want to add thickness to my frontal third, who would you recommend ?  I'd like to go with FUE as I've had work before and would like the doc to cherry pick from the donor areas.

Also I noticed Dr. Michael Vories is not listed under recommended docs list.  I had thought he was, am I wrong ?  Was he removed for some reason ?

Hi!  Thank you very much for your comment, as you say, it will help me win the battle!

I lost it about 16 years ago, I endured a season with hair fibers, becoming impossible when I lost more hair.  With hair prosthesis being NW VII I have been 4 years!

    A hug!

As I had thought, it was near impossible to regrow hair after that many years. Add to that the hair system.  What does your doctor attribute your regrowth to ?

  8. Thanks for the insight guys, very interesting.  Yes I should have mentioned I'm using 5% Foam (Kirkland).

The graph is rather surprising, I don't recall ever seeing that before.  I'd be interested in hearing more about this study.

I did consider oral Minox, though at my current age (66) I was concerned with side effects.

Just curious, has the group found any one particular product works better than others ?  So far I've used Kirkland, though I just started ELEVATE 5% Minoxidil Foam (less expensive). But I can't speak to that as it's only been a few days.

  9. So far, I've been using Minox once a day for approx 6 months. I've noticed some change in the quality of my hair, but no new hairs noted.  Would going to twice a day make that much of a difference ?  Are there those who only use Minox once a day with good results ?

  10. How long ago did you loss your hair ?  How long were you NW7 and wearing the hairpiece until you took it off and started the new regimen ?

Good luck to you, you are winning the battle !!

When I had my surgery with dr Mwamba he told me with the pattern extraction method they use, they go for 40% of graft removed from targeted donor. This means, if you have 10K donor available, he will take 4K. This leaves you with 6K, which can be repeated in another FUE for another 2.4K. As you can see, if you want a pattern that is close to undetectable, it has diminishing returns. But a donor with 10-14k follicles can easily yield 6-9k graft with good results.

I would say without any donor reconstruction getting more than 60% of grafts out will start being very noticeable.

Thanks WhereIsMyMind,  your post was very helpful.

  12. I found ELEVATE 5% Minoxidil Foam on Amazon when I was looking for Kirkland brand. It is relatively less than than Kirkland though I'm not familiar with the name.  If you've tried it let me know if you were satisfied.

Also, I've been heating the foam in my microwave for about 5 seconds to liquefy it making it much easier to apply. Is there any problem with doing this ?

I wouldn't do anything unless you're seen in person and your donor is checked. Your donor looks like its thinning. It also looks like your previous hair transplants have thinned. There was another case of a guy here who was in a similar situation and his HT wasn't successful. Sometimes doing nothing is the better choice.

I believe the thin donor is due more to over-harvesting by bad docs, than to actual thinning.  I made the regretful mistake of going to LIMA NY in the late 80's.  As far as the transplants thinning, that I do agree is true.

As to the over-harvested donor (if I am right) is there anything that can be done to correct this ?  Maybe scar reductions ?

Would that close up the bare areas and create the appearance of a fuller donor ?

And yes, I intend to go in person to have an evaluation.  Which Doc on my list of possibilities would be best for my situation ?

    Thanks...

  14. Due to constraints I'm limited in travel. The docs closest distance-wise are Charles, Cooley, Mwamba and Vories.

No meds other than Minox.  I'm mid sixties, have had previous procedures and probably limited in donor.  I'd like to focus solely on the frontal third behind the hairline.  This area held up nicely but has as of late thinned out and gotten to the point where I can no longer conceal it.

Also not sure if I should go with strip or FUE.  My previous procedures have all be strip.   I would also consider body hairs if that's at all possible with these Docs.

Which Doc would best fit my situation ?
