  1. Hello Forum Members, This is my first post here (I wish I had known about this forum earlier). I want to share my hair transplant procedure experience at the aptly-named Ego Clinic, Romania with Dr. Irinel Nedelcu. In summer of 2013, when I first confided to a close friend that I was going to Romania to get a hair transplant procedure done, my friend recommended against it saying that I was going to a lawless country in Eastern Europe and was at risk of losing a kidney or my liver. I dismissed that as a joke because I do not follow stereotypes and in my opinion doctors were men and women of principles and ethics. Being a postdoctoral researcher in Germany with three mouths to feed, the cost in Romania was attractive. Based on my blind faith in doctors, I then selected a Romanian clinic - misled by what should have been the warning sign of them all - guaranteed results with written confirmation. [see pic attached]. I was happy that I was getting the procedure done at a reasonable price with a written confirmation of the results. I visited the clinic and a long story short, I was hoodwinked by the doctor on so many levels. During the consultations, he assured me that there was no shockless/crossshock experienced at his clinic. I asked him several times about this since I had read about this phenomena but his strenuously emphasized that no one experienced shock loss at his clinic. He then proceeded with the transplant without so much as drawing the hairlines using markers etc before the procedure. I queried. He replied that he knew what he was doing. The only indication from him was using his fingers to point out where he would make the incisions to implant the grafts. Worst of all, he did not exact the donors!! He left it to the technicians who performed the entire extraction and he just occasionally came in to have a look. When I got to see the results after the procedure, I saw that he had transplanted all over the general temple point area but not where I had wanted the implants to be! - near the extreme temple points. Twelve months later, in summer of 2014, not only had I experienced severe and permanent shockless/crossshock where all the minitarized hair had died permanently, 90% of the grafts failed to grow. I emailed the doctor and was shocked by his replies. He resorted to blatant lies saying that he had told me that he recommended me not to have a transplant in the temple point area. This was an outright lie. At no pint in time has he ever told me not to have the procedure done. I wrote to the Romanian Medical Tourism since I had got the information of his clinic from their homepage but unsurprisingly, I did not get a reply. The lesson that I learnt is that yes, stereotypes can be true. That is the reason they exist. Eastern Europe is not the same as Western Europe. Although some would blame me for going there, it was my trust of doctors and their ethics which made me go there. Alas, I discovered that there are doctors (at least one) who will not hesitate to scam. What was most shocking were the lies the doctor started inventing to thwart me from attributing the blundered outcome to him. I have started talking to a lawyer but he advised me upfront that I would lose more money in pursuing this case since its my word against his and the doctor is located safely in Romania. I am not in the mood of posting pictures but will just advise people to choose their surgeons carefully and certainly stay away from this clinic. I waited two years to see the results just in case the hair growth was slow but the hair has not grown.
