Yes, I bloomed around the 7 month mark and it got better every month after. I also went through a terrible telogen effluvium phase shortly after that lasted 6 months. Once it stopped the hair growth became more apparent. Give it some time, hair grows really slow.

Reducing testosterone will only have a minimal effect at reducing DHT. You don't need much for it to convert and a little DHT can go a long way if you're body is sensitive to it.

I took 5mg of Finasteride daily from Jan 2012 to May 2014 before giving up. I was a non responder, and it did nothing but put my hair through a constant telogen effluvium. In Jan of 2015 I was put on Dutasteride 0.5mg daily and after 4 months my shedding completely stopped. The sad part about it was my transplant was shortly after and that put me in another 6 month telogen effluvium. It has since recovered and I am almost back to my baseline.

Give it a break Mark, it's obvious that it has effected you or someone close. If that is the case I am really sorry for you. However, don't knock a drug that has helped so many people with their own issues. The side effects are well documented now and rare, that doesn't mean everyone gets them. Propecia is elective medicine and believe any doctor who prescribes it should be well informed of the side effects as well as informing the patient.

In regards to your chemical castration question, it is possible for a teen aged male to retain their hair through life. This doesn't mean they are safe, there is still a small amount of testosterone produced by the adrenal glands. If they are genetically sensitive to the MPB gene they can still experience some degree of hair loss. This would also prevent them from fully developing.

The same would kinda apply to someone who was older and had started losing hair. Cutting your androgen supply from the gonads will not regrow whats lost, and it certainly won't stop the loss. It may slow it down. This would also set an older person up for things like osteoperosis.

All drugs have side effects, and everyone responds differently. Finasteride is not considered a castration drug as it is not a true anti androgen. Without testosterone, you can not have dihydrotestosterone.

Your testosterone levels won't change your DHT sensitivity. Have at it, buy all the Testosterone Supplements you want.

You'll be fine, I got drunk a few days after mine too and everything came out perfectly fine. I wouldn't suggest drinking a lot though.

Finasteride will not prevent or stop any types of telogen effluvium aka shock loss. That type of hair loss has nothing related to androgens making the drug useless in that effect. All you'll be doing is setting yourself up for 2 major sheds within a year. If you plan to start it you must commit or don't start it all.

I would consult with a dermatologist to get a scalp examination to rule out any kinda skin diseases that can contribute to hair loss. They'll most likely do blood work to check for deficiencies such as iron, thyroid, and estradiol.

There are some things you can try out before you decide surgery is the way to go. Rogain now has womans 5% foam available. If it's androgen related hair loss you may be able to try Spironolacton and estrogen replacement therapy. If you are past childbearing age you could try Finasteride as a last resort. There are many options available, but its important to find the cause first.

I'll go with Exercise may slow hair loss even though I know excessive running can cause anemia.

My guess is if it can effect pregnant woman by just touching it then it can be absorbed through the skin. Which means it would reach the blood system and have the same effect as if taken orally. Which means you would only need a little bit because you are now bypassing the liver. So I would say yea, you would still be vulnerable to side effects if you were sensitive to the drug. An endocrinologist would definitely know.

Saw Palmetto is a very weak anti androgen and will most likely not help. I'm not a doctor but have you looked into estrogen replacement therapy? Restoring estrogen levels will lower elevated androgens and restore hormonal balance.

You mentioned private prescription then switching to Dr Reddy. Are you importing these from an online source? If so it may be possible these drugs are not legit which would explain why they appear to be losing effectiveness. If this is the case I'd suggest returning to your legit prescription again however, if you're sure you're import source is legit Dutasteride may help.

If you're a candidate for laser keep in mind that it's not permanent, it only retards growth. You will have to redo the whole process again several years down the road.

I had electrolysis done and it will definitely help however, keep in mind that it may take several sessions to completely destroy the follicles. Generally it's performed by private estheticians and beauty clinics, but you may find a dermatologist who performs it as well. When looking into clinics check to see which modes of electrolysis they use, there are three. Galvanic, Blend and Thermolysis. I prefer blend as its a balance of galvanic and thermolysis and will probably be the fastest method. Thermolysis is the fastest method taking a second or two to treat a follicle, but uses a lot of heat and has potential to scar the skin and cause blowouts. Especially in hands of a bad esthetician. It will also take more sessions to destroy the hair as its the least powerful of the three. Galvanic is the most powerful but can take 40 seconds to a minute to treat each follicle and can be very time consuming. Hope this helped a bit and good luck with your temples.
