Hi everyone from Sydney, Australia! I would like to relate to you all the experience I had recently at a PRP hair loss clinic. I will not name the clinic or its director as I am pursuing him on a wages claim. I was offered a job sight unseen as a consultant for a eastern suburbs hair loss clinic. The pay was great(in my eyes) and it really appeared too good to be true. I emailed the director of the clinic to express my concerns on being offered a position without an interview but he replied that as an ex police profiler he knew from our phone conversation that I was the right guy for the job. As I was at a low point in my life and really needing a job, I accepted the position. I don't want to turn this into a novel so the gist of the post was that within a week I was asked to provide personal and telephone consults to clients regarding the benefits of PRP hair loss treatments and to try to sign them up for treatments. I was not given training and I was required to do research on this topic in my own time as I had been thrown in the deep so to speak. The director basically wanted to be the celebrity face of the clinic while I talked to the clients. To be honest while I knew it was ethically wrong to be consulting clients about a topic that I only knew what I had read about on the previous night, having worked in dead end jobs for the last few years I loved the challenge and responsibility. It quickly became apparent that the director had little respect for his clients as within a week of starting there, he would get annoyed if I told him that a client had asked to speak with him, questioning why I had not dealt with the issue myself! One such client who had asked to speak to the director was clearly suffering depression from his hair loss and was getting clearly frustrated at the lack of response from the director( who claimed to be such a busy man that he did not have time to talk to clients who asked to speak with him). I ended up having an hour and a half conversation with this client regarding his thoughts on suicide due to his hair loss( it had never previously occurred to me that hair loss would make men suicidal). The best though was that within two weeks of my employment there( note that I have no medical background or hair loss experience) I was being chastised for not giving clients advise on hair transplants; when I informed the director of my lack of knowledge in this area the reply was to read more! Needless to say there were many more issues at this workplace and in the end it did not work out for me and once again I am in a dead end call centre job. But it was an experience to say the least.
