  1. Dear forum members, I just stumbled upon the following "comsumer alert" by the ISHRS: “It is critical to seek a qualified, Board Certified physician who personally performs the Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) procedure. In Connecticut and in many other states, it is not only unethical, but illegal for non-physicians to perform skin surgery including follicular unit extraction.” says Dr. Boden. As we know even ISHRS approved surgeons regularly do not perform parts of the surgery, like the extraction of grafts, themselves. Often the extractions are done by technicians. Usually they are referred to as being "qualified". But what does it exactly mean? Qualified by whom? I am wondering if this growing practice is covered by law, especially regarding the following question: Is everyone involved in my surgery covered by malpractice insurance? How about Belgium where many well-known FUE physicians perform their surgery. Are their technicians allowed by law to do the extractions? Besides their wonderful results and work ethics, are the patients safe and covered by any circumstance? Thank you! ElCielo
