  1. Does itchiness on your scalp mean you have male pattern baldness? If so, do you get the itchy scalp before your hair starts to thin and shed, or is it something that occurs at the same time or after any shedding or thinning has begun? Also why would MPB cause an itchy scalp? I heard its inflammation caused by DHT? And how can you differentiate an itchy scalp caused by MPB from something else, such as a dry scalp or another condition? Thank you for your help!
  2. Thanks. I did more research, and have concluded the bulbs aren't an accurate way of identifying male pattern baldness. It's been a while since I last logged and my hair still seems fine. I know baldness doesn't typically run on my father's side of the family but I'm unsure of my mother's side because I never knew that side of my family. Is there some kind of medical exam to see if I have the gene? I can't simply ask my mother because I've lost touch with her.
  3. I've pulled out some of my hair to analyse it and some have white bulbs and other have black. I've read that the black bulbs signify the anagen stage and the white bulbs represent the telegon stage. I've noticed that the hair with black bulbs tend to be thicker than the hairs with white ones. I'm concerned. Does this mean male pattern baldness? Most of the hairs I pulled out were around the crown areas. I know naturally varies in thickness but I'm still worried. Im 18 and would die if i lost my hair.
