  1. Are you on medicines?

You are right transplanted hairs are permanent but hair loss is progressive, so may be you are loosing non transplanted hair.

Yes, maybe my crown area just gives the illusion that I have been losing transplanted hairs. I could just be losing non-transplanted hairs that are in the mix where the procedure was done. I also noticed that my hair always looks way thinner when I haven't washed it for a day or 2. I just washed my hair and took before and after photos and my hair looks a lot better in the after wash pic haha. I'm guessing this is a common thing people notice as well?

  2. So, I'm 10 months post op. I had both my hairline restored and my crown area filled. Both of these areas where not filled in really thick, but they looked a lot better about 4 - 6 months post op than they did pre-op. My wife mentioned that the transplanted hair in my crown area is looking thinner lately? I have been going through some stress in my life...could this be causing my transplanted hairs to fall out? I haven't been stressing too much, just a little. Could it be that the transplanted hairs actually failed and were just slow to fall out? It is frustrating because I'm not rich and I can't afford to have a ton of hair transplants. I thought transplanted hairs are permanent...so what is going on?

  3. Hello Romeo, it is great to finally hear back from you. I'm sorry to hear about your results...are you back in contact with Dr. Meshkin to fix this? I hope things work out.

It has been 10 months since I had my hair transplant with Dr. Meshkin. I have not had any hair fall out and I hope it stays that way. When did you first start losing your transplanted hair?

  4. @nervousguy how did it go with Dr meshkin?

My hair transplant went well and my hairline and crown areas look a lot better than they were before. Some of the hairs on my hairline are a bit unruly and wirey, but that is probably because my hair is wavy. I will try to experiment with different hair styles in the near future.

As for how to post, you just go to the forums and start new thread. If you just signed up, you might have to wait a little while before you can freely post. The admins have to approve your profile, which doesn't take long. Welcome to the forum!

  5. Ive had 4 hair transplants and this facet was a hallmark of the last two larger ones i had done in pakistan but not the two i had in england oddly enough.

The pakistani ones provided greater growth and the ones i had with rogers and nobel clinic the hair wasnt wiry rough and unruly but nevertheless had a unnatural vertical look

When you mention that the transplanted hairs had an unnatural vertical look, you are referring to transplanted hairs that are on your hairline pointed out yes?

If that is what you mean, then that is the exact issue I'm having. My hairline has these rogue hairs that kind of dart out in random directions and some of these transplanted hairs literally point completely forward at times...like tiny unicorn horns lol.

I plan to check out some hairstylists and see what they can do about it. I will also continue looking for advice on here.

  6. I had my hair transplant back in August of last year, so I'm going on 10 months post op. My hair pretty much finished growing in by about 6 months and hit a plateau. There has been no further volume since then. I have also noticed that the hairs that were transplanted were really thick and strong hairs from my donor area, which is great because it fills in my hairline...but a lot of these hairs are really unruly and almost have a wirey or pluggy look and structure to them? Is this a common thing? Unlike my hairs that are programmed to fall out in my near future, these new hairs are really difficult to style. Any hair style experts on here that could give me some advice? Gel? Wax? Blow dryer?

  7. So, my mother has been gradually losing her hair and she is looking for a product to help prevent and possibly restore hair loss. She is unable to take Rogaine I guess because she has heart issues. She also doesn't have the money for a hair transplant or anything like that. I'm wondering if Propecia and similar products are not recommended for people with heart problems as well? What are her options?

  8. You have some hairs that continued growing and your recipient looks kind of fuzzy. MMaybe the growth just isn't long enough to be noticable?

Do you have a graft count and the idea of the surface area of your transplant recipient area/grafts per cm sq?

These are good questions. I will actually call up the doctor and get this information again. I had it written down, but I misplaced the paper. I can post the details I get from him.

As for the peach fuzz...these hairs can turn into long, dense hairs? It just seems unlikely, because it just looks like peach fuzz and nothing more. So the hairs will start out like this for a few months before they start forming into actual hairs?

  9. NervousGuy,

I took a peek at your hairline photo and there is new growth there albeit not as robust as you expected. But remember, at four months post-op the new growth is just starting. And your regrowth may not go as quickly as you want it to. You have to give your procedure one full year to even up to 15 months post-op in order to fairly judge the merits of your procedure.

If you have grafts that have not shed by now, and they are not growing in length, then they are probably dead hair shafts and should be removed. You can use a tweezers and pull them out. If they come out with ease, then they are dead graft hair.

Your crown probably appears thinner because of some shock loss in that area.

Be patient my friend and things will happen but don't freak out in the meantime. Get your mind off it the best you can and allow time and patience to work...;)

I'm hesitant to just pull out the possible dead hairs because they might not be dead. New hairs might not even sprout to take their place as far as I'm concerned.

I will just have to give it more time, but it is difficult for me to imagine my hair looking really thick and dense because it just seems like I didn't get enough grafts done. My hair looks less bald now, but you can easily see how much less dense my hair is in the crown area.

So am I waiting for the hair in my transplanted areas to grow long enough to hide the baldness or will these hairs also make these areas much more dense as time goes by?

  10. I had a FUT exactly 4 months ago and I have have yet to notice any hair growth at all on my hairline. Is this common? I'm trying to stay positive and believe that my hair just grows really slow, but I'm starting to think I'm one of the failed cases that show poor results.

People tell me that they see little hairs sprouting, but those are the hairs that were transplanted 4 months ago that just haven't either A) fallen out or B) grown at all since the transplant.

I also noticed that my crown area looks more bald this month than last month? It can hardly be disputed if one takes a look at my profile photo album. Could it be that I'm shedding and that the hairs will grow in?

I'm disappointed in the lack of density as well. It seems like I should have had a much larger number of grafts done. It seems like the transplanted hairs in the crown area are growing longer, but not at all growing in density.

Is this another case of not being patient? It sure seems like things aren't really working out the way they are supposed to.

I can understand maybe have at least a tiny bit of growth in the hairline by 4 months, but NONE really?

  11. I'm being patient and I have noticed that my crown area is filling out. My monthly photos can attest to that, but my hairline is showing no growth at all? My hairline still looks the same at 3 months post op as it did when I first had my HT? Does this mean that the transplanted hairs on the hairline have most likely failed to grow? Do the hairs on the hairline just grow a lot slower than the hairs in the crown area? I will remain patient, but just looking to see if there is anyone else on here experiencing this?

  12. So Dr. Meshkin is good, but not on the All Star team I guess. I'm starting to feel that I should have gone to someone else. Every time I call Dr. Meshkin on the phone to ask him questions (which isn't often) he doesn't seem to interested in talking with me. It just seems like he is trying to get me off the phone asap. Are there other people on here that have experienced this too or are other surgeons like this as well???

  13. In theory only the area that actually is being cut will suffer damage. Also you're aware the parietal lobe is near the mid/back of your head so work done around your hairline really shouldn't be affected, assuming the incision would be made in the parietal lobe area.

In any case, if you're having symptoms necessitating the removal of an arachnoid cyst you definitely need to get that taken care of first and foremost. You can always touch up your hair later...

    Best of luck.

Well, I have had hairs grafted not only on my hairline, but on the crown area as well. I had a giant bald spot in my crown area as well. The incision would be right where part of the grafted hairs are.

I'm not having any symptoms at all, but the cyst is growing...so we can call that a symptom, but it isn't something I feel. Regardless, I need to have it removed because it is growing.

I will set an appointment for my operation tomorrow morning and I won't be able to have the surgery done for another 6 weeks anyway. Gives my hair another month or so to grow out more, before being shaved off for the surgery haha.

  14. Ok, so I had my hair transplant 2 and a half months ago. I recently had an MRI that revealed that I have an arachnoid cysts on the top left area of my parietal lobe. The neurosurgeon mentioned to me that the cyst has been growing and that he recommends me undergoing surgery to have it removed. The problem is that he would have to make an incision on my scalp right where the new transplant hairs were grafted. The neurosurgeon told me that the surgery can hold off a couple months, but he doesn't recommend putting it off too long. I called up Dr. Meshkin and explained my situation. He mentioned to me that the scar from the incision would only effect the grafts hairs in that area...but I mentioned that it isn't just an incision. The neurosurgeon needs to open up a decent sized area of my scalp to cut through the bone and remove the cyst on my brain. He just said that my health is more important than my hair and I agreed with him, but our phone conversation left me confused. So will this surgery ruin my hair transplant or just the hairs that fall within the incision? How can the hairs along my scalp that are being moved around to open my head remain unaffected? That makes no sense to me. I'm probably the only person on this forum with this specific problem, so maybe nobody knows the answer to this, but I figured I would ask anyway. I will contact my neurosurgeon tomorrow and ask if it is possible that he can make the incision behind or outside of the grafted area, but that might not be possible.

  15. Once the grafts shed, most of the underlying transplanted follicles go into the dormant stage and rest for several months.

On average the new regrowth typically emerges at the 3-4 month mark for most patients. And obviously there are early bloomers and later ones.

The best is yet to come...;)

I'm exactly one week shy of being 2 months post op. The transplanted hairs on my hairline are still shedding and none of the transplanted hairs on the crown area are shedding at all for some reason.

I know that I will just need to wait a couple more months to see growth if I'm not a late bloomer.

So some people don't see any new hair growth even after like 6 months or more?

  16. No offense but you need to try to relax. You call yourself nervousguy and you really live up to that name every time you post! Every post is doom and gloom. Just try to live your life, let time pass and your procedure grow in. Constantly obsessing about every little thing and how it relates to hair growth is doing you no good.

Talk to your doctor, maybe you need some Ambien or Xanax to get you through your anxieties and maybe a visit to a therapist wouldn't hurt either. Find a way to relax. I've found that meditation is a great way to unwind and deal with stress. There is an app called calm.com that will guide you through meditation sessions. Good luck.

Yes, I will definitely check out that website thanks. Well, I am about 2 months post op and my sutures still haven't fully dissolved...I guess it takes up to 3 months for some people? Also, about how many months in before the transplanted hair starts to grow in? I haven't had any growth at all, but maybe that is because my hair grows slowly in general. I hope that I will start to see a little growth at the 3 month mark.

  17. As if going bald is not enough fun already, I came across this article on Yahoo.

It does make me wonder though, for those of you that are on Fin if it would actually help reduce the risk of Prostate Cancer.

    https://www.yahoo.com/health/going-bald-you-may-face-a-higher-risk-of-aggressive-97660529407.html

I have actually heard that finasteride helps with enlarged prostates, but that it can increase the chances of prostate cancer. I have read all sorts of conflicting things about taking it.

I'm only 31 years old and I already have a prostate that is slightly enlarged. The doctor says that it isn't serious, but as I age, I need to monitor it with annual check ups. So, I'm hesitant on taking finasteride after looking at this article and others like it.

  18. I have been working overnights doing this temporary security guard work for my dad and it is making it really hard for me to sleep. For the passed week, I have been getting an average of about 2 hours sleep tops. Some days, I get maybe 1 hour or literally no sleep at all. Just last night my body must have reached its limit because I ended up crashing out, but I only slept about 5 or 6 hours tops. I plan to take a break from this overnight work this weekend and just rest up for a week or so to get my health back. I only ask this because I know that lack of sleep can cause all sorts of health problems. I just hope that it doesn't have a severe negative impact on the hair growth in the recipient areas of my HT.
