  1. If you do FUE, I would start off with 2.5k grafts in the frontal zone, and see how you do, then add more density in that region second time around. I would not touch the crown until getting good coverage over the front. Even then, it will still be thin....but less bald.

If you do strip, then a 3-4k session over the frontal zone will work, but you wouldn't be able to cut it short like right now.

Good observation, I like to keep my hair short, like giving it a fade with number 2/3.

  2. how are you doing my brother? i was actually recently in saudi myself lol. Judging from your situation, i would say 5k is a great amount to make things look good. I think with the right doctor 4000 maybe be possible. It just won't be very dense. I think you should try to first find a doctor that ha sa great reputation at yielding the most possible grafts. I think rahal has this reputation. I personally did mine with dr hasson and my results are very very good. I could not be happier. I chose doctor hasson because it was them who revolutionized the lateral slit technique. A technique all the other doctors chose to follow. It gave me a great sense of credibility in their work. Infact I just came in yesterday for another surgery with him and he densed up my hairline and right behind it. I can't wait to see how it looks. If you would like to see my pics and if you have any questions regarding my experience at hasson and wong then don't be shy to ask. rahal is a good choice too. I also considered him. I can't speak for the others as i don't have much knowledge of their work.

Great what were you doing in Saudi, are you still here?

I'm still unsure whether I want to go ahead or no with HT but I really need some coverage. I'm not at all happy with the bald look I got, I'm uploading some pics that I try to maintain with minimum hair.

    Oh well...

  3. 1)If you mean Biotin and the like, then that is entirely optional. Generally it just speeds up the rate of growth and has no hair retention effect. The two medications known to work are Finasteride (brand name Propecia/Proscar) which is a prescription tablet taken once daily and slows down the rate of hairloss/thinning. The second is Minoxidil (Rogaine Foam) which is a non-prescription topical foam applied twice daily to the scalp. Finasteride is the far more effective and since you don't have anything left on top I would not bother with Minoxidil.

2)I guess you mean shockloss. When you have surgery and the blood flow is temporarily restricted to follicles it can cause them to shed. For example, when the hairs are taken from the back of the head the adjacent hairs may be affected but usually grow back over 3 or 4 months. Alternatively, if you have some hair left on the top of your head and the doctor implants new hair follicles inbetween them then these hairs may also be shed. If they are weak miniaturising hairs then they may not grow back.

3)As a rule of thumb a mild baby shampoo should be used for about the first 2 weeks but after that pretty much any daily shampoo can be used.

    Yes, thanks for clarifying that.

4000 is about the most a doctor can aim for without having examined your hair in person, so it is not unreasonable.

I emailed Dr. Bhatti and he suggested 5000

I would not get a HT in that region. No effing way! Just ask the poster 'hairiri'.

I came across his threads and I did send him a message

I looked at your pictures and I'm sorry to say that you are not a very good candidate for a transplant. Your hair density just looks too thin. Basically a thin donor equals a thin result on top, regardless of whether you opt for FUT or FUE.

Provided your donor area is not minaturising a doctor might be able to give you back a thin hairline but I would not expect miracles. Your hair type reminds me a bit of 'tacolinowest' who had 2000 grafts with Dr Feller. His result should give you an idea of how dense your result could be if you managed to get 4000 grafts.

Is it because I haven't posted the pic of back of my head? I got somewhat a similar feedback from Dr. Bhatti where he suggested to use body/beard hair as well. I'm going to be posting picture of the back of my head. What do you think of it now ? Maybe the donor from the side didn't look as promising ?

  4. Fellow HT experts,

Hope you are all doing well.

I've come across the news about 7 years ago and didn't bother to get into it as I thought I wasn't being affected. I was too involved in my career that I neglected to pay attention that I was losing hair then and all this led to 2014 where now I'm 32 and have lost a good chunk of my hair.

I came across this forum a few months back and was just silently observing, reading different threads and experiences of other members, and only yesterday had the courage to become a member and snap a few photos.

As a potential HT patient, I still have a few worrying questions that I will discuss with my doc, and I've still read them on the board too.

    1) Is it really necessary to take supplements for the growth ? convinced myself yes as this is similar to taking the vitamin pills

    2) Side affects, such as hair loss ( i never really understood this) and most threads say to be patient about it. Headaches,

    3) Can I continue to use shampoos such as head and shoulders etc.

A few other question which I will post and discuss with the doc pre op.

Now, due to nature of my work I have extensive travel and literally live off a suitcase so if I do plan HT, it has to be 6-8 months in advance and I'm targeting Feb'15. So i have to plan my return in such a way that no one finds out that I did HT.My options are

    1) Dr. Radha,

    2) Dr. Madhu

    3) Dr. Rahal

I've sent an email to the first two and haven't heard back yet, so will see their feedback and then contact Dr. Rahal. I will also consider Drs in Istanbul.

I have a large donor area if I'm not mistaking, so my goal is to get 4000 grafts (am i being too optimistic) ?

I live in Saudi Arabia and unfortunately there isn't any Dr. in the region close by except for Turkey and I don't really want to get it done there, alternatively Belgium is another option that I might consider. There is one Dr. Shadi Zari here who specializes in HT but never seen or heard of his work, I will be visiting him next month to get his opinion.

So, HT experts, I'm posting some pics below ...what do you think ?
