I would say 2000. Less than that may work but will not give you the desired density you want. You also need some temple work to make it all work together. Go conservative with hairline because if your loss progresses you should have enough grafts left for more sessions.

so i have 2000 grafts to play with. Youre saying to not worry too much about lowering the hairline and use those grafts on my temples more than anything?

Around about 2000 grafts will be fine as long as you only bring your hairline down by a little bit. Maybe 1-1.5cm down at the forelock and then rounding off into the corners (i.e. not having it flat across. I just had 2000, well 2025, grafts myself.

You could do a bit more if you wanted it a bit straighter across/lower, but I don't think there would be any need to.

Im thinking of targeting the areas within the red line.

I disagree, if he's 32, and his hairline has been relatively stable the last few years, I think it's fine to have a HT if his hairline bothers him.

As to your question of how many grafts?  There's literally no correct answer.  Depends how long you want the hairline.  Depends how aggresively you want to restore the temples.  Depends on many factors (basically depends on the hairline design).

Personally, I'd say a minimum of 2k if it was my own personal hair. But it also depends on how short you want to keep your hair.  If you want a buzz cut and to keep it at that length, it might have to be even more, since then you need higher density all over, not just on the first few rows of the hairline.

Luckily, I do like keeping the top much longer and just fade the sides. It suits my face better.

@yeeaah have or are you considering taking a 5ari such as finasteride? You have a lot of hair to keep (or lose) in the future. The amount of grafts for your hairline is really dictated on whether you are going to have your temple points done, etc. All the best!

I am about to go on it. I am looking to put some grafts in my temple points. If thats the case are we thinking 1500-2000? I dont want to go too crazy since I dont know how much more I will lose along the years.

  5. Im a 32 year old male and im looking to get a hairline transplant using the FUE method. Recently, I shaved my head that way I could see how much my hairloss has advanced and I came up with the pics herere.

I am looking for a doctor that specializes in FUE that will give me results that will last me a long time. I do want the results to be noticeable so not only am I looking for a doctor recommendation but im also curious if you guys think 1500 grafts is enough ?

    1. Depends on the surgeon in the US it ranges from $7-12 per graft. Europe 3-5 per graft.

    2. 32 definitely isn’t too young, but you need to understand you have a lot of hair left to lose. You should stabilize before thinking of surgery i.e finasteride and minoxidil.

    3. The number depends on the height you’d want your hairline. It looks like you have thinning on top. Can you show us a top down view?

Here is a picture of my top.

5mg is the dosage prescribed to prostate patients, 1mg is the recommended dosage for hair loss sufferers. Even then 1mg 3 times a week generally does the job.

You might want to give it another go at the correct dosage.

At this point what should I expect it to do? Hair regrowth in that area? Or just stop hairloss and keep it from getting worse?

    I personally wouldn't go to Turkey/India/etc.

Check out Dr. Konior, he is re: as being among the best in the world. I suggest you get on propecia asap; you have a lot of hair left so you want to do what you can to hold onto it. I would also suggest getting a FUT for your first transplant and not FUE so you can max out your donor area. My guess is over time, you will need more coverage. Something like 1500 grafts is all you need, maybe 2K is all you need today.

Aside, you have plenty of hair. Most of the guys here wish they had your problem. Good luck.

    Why FUT instead of FUE

I usually get a zero low fade in the sides so wouldn’t my scar show if I did FUT?

  9. Hi guys I have posted in the past and as I get older, it gets harder and harder to hide my receding temples. I can no longer hide it and it is super depressing. At this point I am looking solutions to my problem. I think I know that it will be tough to get any regrowth back since the only thing I use regularly is Rogaine. The only way to get regrowth seems to be surgery.

So having said that, i am looking for a doctor that is super experienced in hairline transplants and I don't mind doing it here in the USA or traveling to another country. In fact, if there are doctors just as talented in other countries that will perform the procedure at a lower cost then that's something I wouldn't mind.

Thank you guys and I look forward to hearing from your advice and recommendations.

  10. You can also use a little Toppik or other cover up and just blend it in for a fuller look for now until you really think you need one. You can use Biotin and take vitamins try all that stuff first. I don't blame you for being concerned just keep ahead of it and know that there's always something you can do to fix it but you look great so just keep up the good work.

Thank you. What upsets me is that people say that I shouldn't get a hair transplant but there are professional superstars that get these at age of 24-25

  11. Your'e definitely seeing more hair loss than anyone else is and I'm in agreement that a reputable doctor should turn you away for a HT.

I'm also in agreement that most people will be thrilled to have a head of hair like yours AFTER a transplant.

If you're really concerned, I'd suggest a different hair style. Cuts like these are very popular right now and will make you look like you have a lot more hair:

Thats beautiful. I dont know if I can pull that off because my hair is frizzy and wavy though. But this is the ideal look for me.

Stay the way you are you look like a model you just need to smile a little and be thankful you have that much hair . In the future if you need it yes by all means but you will mess yourself up if you have a procedure now.

lol. not sure if youre trolling me but on the off chance that youre not, thank you.

  12. I would def hold out the HT. Your hair looks good man, trust me. Even with your new haircut, you still have a good hairline that frames your face.

Thanks man. I appreciate the advice

Did you read the thread I sent you yesterday?

Read that first before you ask your question. Send that 25 year old guy - who went to one of the best clinics in NA a private message. Have some discussion with him on pros cons.

I think on this thread alone you got something like 10 of 12 people to say hold off.

Again we all KNOW the psychology of this, but when guys who know the psychology tell you to hold off and you are believing there is way more loss than you think... and then you come back and argue but 2 of them said I had hair loss it sounds like you dont want information but you want people to confirm what you think.

So 10 of 12 people here said hold off, your barber says you have thick hair except 1 spot, yet 2 people say go ahead and you say "but 2 people said it's good to go".

If you were a good candidate you'd get a chorus of "it's time man" from this website. You have very small recession that almost no one but you notice. It's too early. Even if you wait 1 year you can see your situation better.

I'd take a photo in lighting you can replicate 1 year in same room you will be in 1 year. Save it on your computer. Then show up in late Feb 2017, take the exact same photo. Then put them side by side and assess. Post those photos here Feb 2017 and the ratio goes from 10 out of 12 "no" to 6 out of 12 then you have food for thought. Right now the crowd has spoken - and you are choosing to hear the minority. Not sure what else you want to hear at this point.

And yes some doctors will operate on you tomorrow morning at 8 AM. Because some doctors will operate on nearly anyone. Those are not the doctors you want to be with.

Thank you for the advice. I guess you have a point. My only two options at this point were Dr Gabel and Dr Shapiro to see what they would say. They are the only two doctors I am considering.
