  1. So, I went on a date a week ago. The girl I went out with, we had a discussion about many different subjects. One subject that got brought up (it was by her, not me) was balding men. She said "I don't see how guys can bald before the age of 25 it looks bad." After that I noticed her looking at the top of my hairline to see if I am losing hair or not. I had 2 previous transplants before; one with bosley two years ago then a repair with Dr. Alexander (almost 4 months from him starting to look good) but I was also wearing cabooki. So, she couldn't tell whether I have balding issues or not and I never told her my history with hair loss . I found myself to lose interest in her after that statement of hers despite my problem nearly being solved . Other nature intended me to be bald but I am not going to let that happen. Also, she wasn't the prettiest girl out there I am surprised her standards are so high for her wanting a man like Fabio. I don't know about you guys, but I couldn't ever be with a shallow woman who doesn't support me . I understand looks matter to them as well, but if they're bit a supermodel then their demands shouldn't be that high.

  2. I had a HT a little over two months ago and got back on rogaine. Whenever I play with my hair, I notice 10,20,30 hairs falling out. I know they say it's "normal" after a HT or getting back on rogaine from not using it in a month or two, But this is scary I feel like I'm balding even more with how easy my hair is coming out.

  3. If you see this as a long term thing, I think you should tell her but only if/when you're certain you will going for the 2nd HT. Otherwise, I wouldn't say anything unless she asks or it just comes up on it's own. I think the concealers are a nonissue that isn't even worth bringing up either way.

If you do tell her, don't make it seem like a big deal. Don't build it up and be like, "Babe I've got to tell you something... I don't know how you're going to react blah blah blah" just be nonchalant about it as though you're talking about the weather.

Agreed, Rootz. You should bring it up only in a casual conversation. Coming off as obsessive about it really can be a turn off to women. It would be like them talking about how they're not happy without their make-up all the time. Whenever I tell a girl about my issue, I come off as confident knowing I have a lot to offer with or without hair and feeling that I'm still a good looking guy. But if you break the confidence level, then a woman may find you less attractive.

  4. Grinners,

I can very much relate to your story being a 20 year old battling hair loss. I had a HT from a national chain nearly 2 years ago and it did not do much for me being uneducated on choosing an ethical surgeon. Then I met Dr. Alexander in Phoenix, he normally would not perform a HT on someone my age, my he wanted to correct the national chains sloppy work I had going for me. I'm at the 2 month stage with his procedure so I use caboki for now until I start seeing some nice results.

Anyways, I can very much relate to you. Keep in mind that despite how pretty some girls are; they do many things to enhance their beauty. (Make-up, getting their eyebrows done, waxing, extensions, ect..) I am very upfront with girls I start to date. I'll tell them my hair loss story, what I do, my past surgeries, ect. I date attractive women so it is hard to bring up the topic and tell the truth at times but I just keep in mind of all the things they do to enhance their beauty, so what's the harm if I want to use a little bit of caboki, get HT's ect.. Bottom line is a real woman wouldn't stop liking you for something you can't control. If she does, there is someone much better out there for you. Maybe both of you should have a "bum day" where she doesn't wear make up or anything and you don't use hair concealer. Looks do matter to women, any woman that says they don't she's lying. But there has to be some understanding between the two, such as "hey you wear make-up" but hey "you have a little bit of hair loss." no one is perfect. Most women won't mind a little bit of hair loss anyway. Hope this helps

  5. I started using the safeway minoxidil again (not the foam). I wasn't on it for a couple months due to this same exact issue. Whenever I use it twice a day, I develop dandruff and have white flakes in my hair. It appears to be dried up skin. Is this normal? anyone else have this issue? I want to continue using it, I use it for the very center of my head because it is a little bit thin in that area. I want to keep using it because I heard it works well, but I feel that it's doing more damage than good if it just dries out my scalp...

  6. It used to be regarded as one of the "big three" but enough people have experienced sheds on it that the consensus has changed. You can still use it as directed for dandruff though, just don't over do it

Spex actually recommends to be careful of it btw

wow! thanks for the info! This strongly relates to me! I just got a HT 2 months ago. I tried out the shampoo just today and made my hair look great and a lot fuller. Should I get off it or just use it every 2 weeks as Spex stated??

  7. So, I just bought the shampoo the 1% version because I heard it fights DHT.

I have a couple questions regarding the shampoo...

1.It says to use every 3-4 days, do you use if more if you're a hair loss sufferer? or do you switch between different shampoo's in that time period?

    2. It says to only use it for 8 weeks. This part has me confused.. Do I not buy it anymore after? or do I continue using it?

  8. Roman I understand people grow at different rates, but to have something close to the final result by 4 months is a stretch, "Acell" or not. Either way it's hard to tell just how much the HT has helped at this point due to the nature of the presentation. I believe the majority of the difference between the before and afters shown by this case comes down to how the hair is styled and combed..

    ...

Let's suppose he has no hair in his frontal and temporal regions. You are aware that combovers can be exclusively with hair from the sides of the head?

    /QUOTE]

You're aware that a comb over would not be that dense and comb overs don't have enough coverage to make someone look like they have a full head of hair, right? I think that the Acell plays a big role in this. From the research I've done, patients usually see their growth earlier than others. That being said, their full result is typically at 9 months rather than 12-18 months.

  9. Something fishy is going on here and I dislike the presentation. At only 4 months there should not be a whole lot of growth, and yet the pictures attempt to give the impression there was a big transformation.

For starters the before and after comparison is biased and very weak. In the before his hair is intentionally combed apart and/or wet to expose the hairloss... yet in the after it is styled impeccably in a type of comb over (it was grown out and now all going from left to right). For all we know if he grew his native hair for 4 months he may have been able to achieve the same comb over without an HT. Who knows?

He also appears to have an existing hairline (from a previous op?) before this HT. How much of the hairline in the 4 month result pics was his existing, and how much is his new? Again, who knows. We can't tell. I guess we're supposed to use our imagination.

Also, doctor I notice you routinely post results after just 6 months or in this case only 4 months. I'm starting to suspect maybe this is because the patient didn't come back for later pictures and you just want something to post and show? I don't have a problem with this of course, so long as the presentation is not biased. I'm hesitant to believe this patient is "extremely happy" after only 4 months... unless his expectations were low and the minimal early growth he is seeing already satisfies him.

Every patient hair grows at different rates after a HT. Dr. Alexander uses 'Acell' something known to stimulate graft survivability and can accelerate the growth process. I don't think that there is anything "fishy" he is an ethical, honest surgeon. From what I've seen, I believe he is in top 3 with all the advanced techniques he uses to makes his results state of the art. This is an awesome result, I don't think hair "being wet" or a "comb over" could hide his degree of hair loss he had going for him.

  10. I heard that shampooing your hair every day is bad for it from my girlfriend. There are natural oils your body produces to stimulate hair growth, that's why it gets greasy. I was told to shampoo my hair every other day. Seems very logical considering the fact that most homeless people have full heads of hair if anyone else notices that

  11. So, when I wake up in the morning, I go to my bathroom go look in the mirror and my hair looks thick as can be! with my bathroom window that is the daytime lighting. But at night, my hair looks really thin with my bright light bulbs in my bathroom. Is it exposing the truth or making it look worse than what it really is? It has me paranoid, Anyone else have this problem?
