Yes, hopefully they will get their act together soon. After all, Dr. Mwamba is a reputable doctor.

Agreed. But this is pretty bad. I first contacted them in mid-January, and here we are, two months later, with no shipping confirmation but $100 out of my pocket.

Same. "Josh" said "We will send you a tracking number as soon as it ships." If I don't receive any shipping info. by the end of the week, I'll probably call my credit card company to cancel the order. The website is pretty new, and it all makes me a little suspicious.

Also, even if I do get the product, it makes me worry that I won't be able to get refills in a timely way and that I'll run out before they get their act together to ship the refill.

Yeah. It's worrying that I paid a month ago and haven't gotten tracking info. Even if it's just incompetence and not dishonesty, that's a really egregious mishandling of client funds.

Yes, I've had same problem so far. I purchased it a few days ago, still no shipping information. Have you received yours yet?

No. Followed up with Josh and he said they couldn't find my tracking numbers. He offered to ship a new one and send tracking; that was three days ago and I haven't heard anything. I'm starting to wonder if this is a scam or just complete chaos/incompetence. Beyond frustrating.

  5. Has anyone had issues with getting their topical supplied from Dr. Mwamba's clinic? I first contacted them in late January, couldn't get them to send an order link until February 18th, and STILL haven't gotten shipping confirmation even thought it's been over two weeks since I paid. It makes me worried about getting renewals filled promptly and not running out of product before they can get it together to reply and ship. Trying to be patient, but it seems like they're really disorganized.

How long have you been on 0.5mg dut for? Have you seen any regrowth or thickening ?

Since about 2013. Hard to tell because I have a hairline transplant that makes it hard to discern if any regrowth has occurred. But I'll say that I've scarcely lost any hair at all in the last eight years.

Topical dut is one of those things that seem to be getting a lot of attention like oral minoxidil. It's a shame there isn't anyone on YouTube or anywhere really tracking their progress in a monthly manner. I will be doing that with oral minoxidil once I get it.

Totally agree.  If effective, it's a huge deal.  Even aside from sides, I'm not thrilled with the lack of clarity re: long-term impacts of DHT suppression on the brain.  There's a lot we don't know.

Also curious to see how you tolerate oral minox--I got very dark circles under my eyes immediately from vasodilation and had to drop it.

  8. I'm super interested in this.  I've been on Avodart for eight years but get minor sexual sides; I've always tolerated them but would love to switch to a topical and ditch the side effects--I'm just concerned about topical being less effective.  If anyone's had good luck, I'd love to hear about it.

Agreed. Considering you were completely bald in the majority of the area transplanted, I do not believe you could as for a better result. You could do a second pass for more density, but I would advise you to wait a couple years and see what your hair is doing.

Exactly right response.  I've had two surgeons tell me that building a new hairline on "virgin" scalp--especially with fair skin and dark hair--is one of the toughest tasks for a surgeon to get right.  And even moreso when there is relatively thick hair behind; really tough to match and look natural.

I appreciate all the comments! And I don’t mind the critiques.

There are certainly times I feel like I wish I had more density, but overall I’d say I’m content. I did go out of my way to make it look as bad as possible in those last few pics, as others have said. I don’t think any ordinary person would look at my hairline as anything unusual — in fact, a first date recently told me that I have really good hair which is always nice to hear after a HT

I seriously doubt graft survival was an issue. Dr. K had said we’d have a density of around ~40 grafts per cm^2 and I almost felt like pushing him to go for 50, but ultimately my request was to simply go as dense as he felt was ethically possible. With my fine hair caliber and scalp contrast, the result looks about right imo.

I’ll try and post a few additional pics soon. I’m not in a rush to go through the HT process again, but if I decide to do another pass in a few years I’ll definitely ask him to bulk up the hairline some more.

Good approach.  Much better to not push the density, get a strong result that you can build on, and then go back to solidify the density.  I spent six years getting my hair to where I wanted it, but I'm very glad I played the long game and didn't expect my dream outcome after a single procedure.

Thanks, sounds resealable! My plan is max 2000 grafts for the first one. I’m going to have a consultation with Feriduni in December. I guess that’ll might point me in a certain direction graft-wise.

Wasn’t  it hard to perform that many operations? Are you in fin?

I'd go closer to 1,200 to 1,500 grafts, if I were you--just leaves more in the tank for later, and it's better to start conservative.

I didn't think three procedures was a big deal.  Hair transplant isn't major surgery, and the second one is MUCH easier because you know what to expect.

I'm on Avodart--.5mg/week.  Doesn't take much for me to keep the shedding under control.

  12. I would do a relatively small procedure to marginally lower your hairline--around 1,500.  Then sit tight for a few years.  If the work is holding up well and your loss is stabilized, you can lower the hairline some more.  Five to six more years should give you a better picture as to what your loss will look like.  I got 1,500 grafts at 29, 2,200 at 33, and then 1,200 (I think) at 36.  I'm now 38, the work has held up beautifully, and I'm glad I spaced the procedures out to make sure that I wasn't going to hit 30 and get hit by a ton of hair loss.  It's unusual that someone who's destined to have very heavy loss can't see it coming by the time they're 35-38.

You need a second HT to make your hairline more natural and dense.

Result is good but definitelly you need a second one.

Agreed.  It's a good result that tees him up for a fantastic one after a second pass.  The very best transplant work is almost always the result of more than one procedure; just nearly impossible to achieve truly amazing density in one surgery.
