  1. Hey man, great results. I'm really happy for you!!! I'm also considering an HT with the same doctor end of this year & take a 2 months vacation to hide myself haha. But I'm just worried about 1 thing, will your HT be as successful if you weren't taking FIN? I only use Minox and don't want to start taking FIN but i worry that i will lose a lot from shockloss after the HT. Even Dr. Erdogan recommended that I start to take Fin so that's what's making me to be a little hesitant for an HT as I worry I'll gain some hair but lose some other hair due to shockloss and that hair won't grow back without FIN.
  2. Thx for ur reply but I didn't mean shock loss is caused by weak hair. English isn't my mother tongue so maybe u misunderstood me. What I meant was, when shock-loss does occur, the weak hairs that was going to be lost naturally in a few months or in a few years, won't come back due to shock-loss because those hairs are weak. My questions are: 1) taking Fin is a must after an HT so that those weak hairs that were lost will come back? So without Fin , an HT is useless? 2) Usually how many grafts are lost due to shock-loss? are we talking about in the 10's? 100's? more? My concern is, I will be happy to gain 3000-4000 grafts but then I will lose many due to shock-loss. I won't take Fin because I already tried it and I didn't like the side effects. I will only keep using Minoxidil which has done a good job so far.
  3. I am planning to have an HT with Dr. Erdogan around end of the year but now I'm worried about 1 thing which is shock-loss. When I emailed the clinic, they recommended that I start using Fin from now but I only want to use Minox which I have been using for years & i don't want to take Fin for it's side effects. So is having an HT without taking Fin is useless? Because I don't want to gain 3000-4000 grafts and lose a lot from shockloss. I read somewhere that the hair lost due to shock-loss is weak hair that will be lost soon or in a few years but I would rather keep them for a few years. And usually how many grafts are lost due to shock-loss? are we talking about 10s, 100s or more?
  4. Hi all, I am also thinking of doing an HT in Turkey and planning it at the end of the year. But I have 1 concern which is shock-loss. I need around 3000-4000 grafts. I am worried that i will lose hairs that won't grow back due to shock loss because I don't want to take propecia but I'll continue to apply minoxidil. If shock loss does happen, about how many grafts will be lost forever? are we talking about 10 to 20 grafts, hundreds? I'm worried that i will gain 4000 new grafts but lose 100s of grafts that will never come back and those could have stayed on the hair for some years if i didn't do an HT.
  5. I turned 35 last month and I noticed that I started to lose my hair when I was 23. What a terrible long ride facing hair loss. For the last 2 years I have been researching about HT and finally decided to take the plunge and go for a FUE in Turkey end of this year. I have been using Minoxidil for many years and I guess it has helped to slow the hair loss. I don't regret not doing an HT in my 20's since I lost a lot of hair in late 20's and as u all know, donor hair is limited. Even I'm 35, I still have second thoughts sometimes about really doing an HT or not, worrying that i will have gaps later on....
  6. Thx Red for the reply & for resting my mind a little hehe. Regarding fin, i won't take it as I worry about the side effects & I need to take it for life which is troublesome. I would rather just try my luck with Minoxidil which has worked so far. As for either 3000 or 4000 grafts, it's not about the finance actually, it's more about going through an HT 2 days in a row. And the clinic told me I need to make a decision to book either a day or 2 days. I guess I'll go for the 3000 grafts for my frontal & top part and see how that goes and if i need another HT in 3-5 years then I'll get another 3000 grafts for the crown and fill more areas on the top. I have a question, u signed a paper before the HT, does anyone have a copy for this clinic or any other clinic's documentation? Just for reference. I don't think I'll read it carefully when i'm at the clinic.
  7. Hey Red, thx for your detailed reply regarding the 3 stages of HT with Dr. Erdogan. Actually I emailed the clinic again and I got a reply yesterday. I asked for a 1 day procedure and what was his maximum grafts per day. I just wanna do it in 1 day and get it over with. Their reply was: "Dr Koray propose you two options for your surgery: - a 3000 grafts FUE surgery for your frontal and mid scalp parts, in 1 operation day (7500 € + Services & Medications) - a 4000 grafts FUE surgery for your frontal, mid scalp and vertex parts, in 2 operation days (10000 € + Services & Medications). Regarding Finasteride: in case you choose the first option (3000 FUE surgery, vertex excluded) Dr Koray would strongly recommend you to use it, since it can help a lot the regrowth of your vertex part. Of course, this will be your personal decision." That was part of their email. To be honest I don't want to take Finasteride for life and might go through with the side effects that many people mention & I will just continue to use Minoxidil 5% & try to use it twice a day since sometimes i skip it in the morning. Regarding PRP, I guess I'll do it since there's a chance that it actually might help. But does the injection hurts or the anaesthetic hurts more? I don't mind the HT, I am only nervous about the anaesthetic & PRP injections. How many injections did you receive per day? how painful were they? similar to the anaesthetic u receive in your mouth when taking out a tooth at the dentist for example?
  8. Hey Denny, Congrats on your successful HT. I'm going to do HT with dr erdogan as well but I haven't confirmed the date yet. But I have a few questions. How many procedures does the doctor perform per day?? Also he suggests to perform PRP, is it really necessary? Did he explain to u what are the benefits & if there's any side effects. I asked the doctor what's his maximum grafts that he can perform per day and he said around 3000. I asked that, because I would like to do only 1 session. 1 day of pain is enough for me haha. So my third question is how many hours was your procedure, not including the breaks. I mean total hours u were sitting in the operating room?
  9. Hey Red, Well I'm looking for dates around Mid to end of Jan or beginning of Feb. So do u have any ideas how many HT per day the doctor performs? What about PRP? When I contacted the clinic, they mentioned PRP, how is that process? any pain? any side effects? I read online about it but there's no proven studies that it actually help but even if there's %10 chance that it actually helps and no side effects then I'll do it.
  10. I sent an email to Dr. Erdogan's clinic and I got a reply the next day. After they checked the same pics that I have posted here, the Doctor recommended 3000 grafts done in 1 day. I asked that I would only like to do 1 session HT in a day and what's his maximum per day. I guess around 3000 grafts. I'm worried of future hair loss so I don't think I should opt for 4000-6000 grafts HT. Any recommendations? Is going for 3000 grafts is enough and is a better idea so that to see where my future hair loss will reach? His pricing was as follows: 2.5 euros per graft so that will be 7500 Euros. plus services 200 E & medications 150 E. The optional item is PRP treatment for 300 Euros. I read about PRP, there's no proven studies that it does really help but is there any side effects? Anything that might help in the HT then I'll do it but if there's risk of side effects then a big NO
  11. Actually I emailed the clinic yesterday "friday" and got a reply the next day today "saturday". Their email reply was mainly a copy & paste reply & they just changed some items in the email per my request. I guess they do get too many emails & it's difficult for them to reply each one specifically. Anyway, after checking my photos they said I needed 3000 grafts which can be done in 1 day. But I need to book months in advance? That will be difficult for me to set up a confirmed date 2-3 months in advance!
  12. Any updates? As I have chose Dr. Erdogan as well for my first HT.
  13. Hi Pete, When I get back to work, I will have about an inch of hair on my head. I think my hair now is about 2 inches long or more. I just worry about the ugly phase to start when I get back to work & back to my life. I can hide the first 2 months but I can't hide in the 3rd & 4th month. Thanks for ur best wishes bro
  14. Hey Dave, Thx for ur detailed reply. Appreciate it. So u had 2440 grafts done in 2 days. I was hoping to have over 2000 grafts in just 1 day. So u mentioned new growth started about 3rd month, but u mean your growth started at day 61 or day 90? I will get back to work at day 45 or 60 so if new growth starts early then I will be very lucky. So it took u 150 days to grow all hair back! Man, that's a very long time. What I worry about is how I look when I get back to work on day 60 and how i will feel from that day until I look normal. Thx for ur advice about clipping it short, I will do that. Thanks bro
  15. Hey guys, I have been reading & researching for the past 6 months and I have finally made up my mind thanks to this community, that I will go for a FUE in Istanbul with Dr. Erdogan who uses a manual FUE which in my opinion has more pros than cons & I usually transit through Istanbul & he's recommended on this site so it's my best choice. I have brown hair & as you can see in the attached pics, I'm not bald yet. I can live with my current hair but the problem is i hate to go out on rainy / windy days or go for a swim. If my hair gets wet or there's a strong wind then I look bald and i would go to the nearest toilet to check in the mirror how's my hair. Really troublesome. And i'm a really sweaty guy in the summer. I don't have very high expectations to have a full head of hair, but just enough hair that I will be comfortable with & not to carry a comb all the time to fix my hair Anyway, here are some of my questions: 1) What is the maximum grafts that can be extracted in 1 day / session for FUE? I would not like to go for 2 days in a row. 2) I can take 30-60 days off work & I'll follow up my work from online but no more than 60 days. Most probably 45 days off to visit & hide at my parents' home. I researched a lot online and different users had different results after 45-60 days. But my question is for the general population, how does the hair look like in 30 days, 45 & 60 days for the front & top head after an HT. Because that's the time I will get back to work & wearing a hat is not an option. If someone can post pics for those days "30, 45 & 60 "? 3) I don't mind if I'm a slower hair grower, but I just care about the period it takes for my current hair to grow back. How many months you guys think it will take for my hair to look the same as in the photos I attached? Thanks in advance for this community.
  16. Thanks all for your comments. Well I also think that a medical cure won't be available for decades. But I was wondering, if there will be any kind of advancement in HT, for example, there will be less scarring, shorter procedure time, etc. well any kind of progress? But I guess i'm just dreaming and the only way is the current FUE HT.
  17. Thanks for your reply. I hope your info will become a reality as I'm really confused about my decision to go forward with an FUE or wait a few more years when there has been some development in this field. Waiting at least 6 months to see some effect after an HT is really long. During those 6 months, it will be a very difficult time to go out & meet people etc.
  18. Hi all, I was really considering an FUE HT with 1 of the recommended doctors in Turkey. But since checking pots of many of the patiens, I'm a little hesitant since it's a long process that takes a year to really start showing the results of the HT and during that year, I find a lot of people that are anxious, sometimes depressed & try to avoid meeting people. I can take a long vacation & hide for 1-2 months but I need to get back to work from the 3rd month. I can't wear a cap to hide my head since I'm a manager and I wear suits to work & I meet a lot of people so wearing a cap is out of the question. I have thinning hair but I'm not bald. People usually say I have a big forehead hehe. But if I shave for an FUE HT then i need like 3-4 months for my original hair to grow back and what I noticed, it takes at least 6 months for the new transplanted hair to start growing. So, my question is, is there any new breakthrough treatment either medication or improved HT that is being approved and will be available in the market in the next coming years? or there is nothing in the next 5-10 years. If nothing soon then FUE is my only option.
  19. Hey Spanker, thx for ur message! I also think I shouldn't do any work on the crown area & leave it alone and what matters is the front line at the moment. Maybe I'll think about using Finasteride/propecia after my wife gets pregnant and I'll start using it. But as u said, I'll research about it & then decide. I have contacted a few doctors online & got an online quotation and 2 of them told me I needed around 3000-4000 grafts. 3000 for the front line & 1000 for the crown. Well I won't touch the crown area. But I worry if I do have an FUE and they would cover my frontline then I might lose more hair in the top of the head, that will look weird and I don't think my donor hair is enough for many operations. I guess I'll just wait & see which Norwood level I will reach then decide. I just hope BHT will be successful in the future because I have enough of body hair hehe
  20. Hey Transhair, Thx for ur message! U gave me some hope hehe. Are u also recommending Propecia? I never tried it since I worry about the side effects after long term use. I'm trying to have a baby with my wife & I worry about the sex drive will be low hehe. But I'm thinking to use it. As for FUT OR FUE, I would prefer FUE since I don't want a scar on my back. Another question, I got plenty of body hair, when do you guys think BHT "body hair transplants" will be as successful as FUE OR FUT?
  21. Hey Matt, thx for ur reply! I hope I don't reach Norwood 6 or more but I guess that's where I'm headed to. I'm just trying to slow that process with Minoxidil. But which Norwood level u think I'm at right now? & do u think I should wait until the balding stops and then I decide to do an FUE ? Because I worry I have an FUE during this year then i lose more hair at the back and that will look weird.
  22. Hello everyone! I'm a new member here & this is my first post. I'm almost 35 years old & I have been losing hair for over 10 years. I have used Minoxidil %5 for many years and I think it has helped a lot in slowing the hair loss but in the last few years i hate going out if it's very windy or on a rainy day, so I have a reached a point where a hair transplant is necessary. I have taken several photos in a very bright light to show the gaps & my hair was a little wet from Minoxidil. So this is the worst state. I look much better after taking a shower & drying it but I wanted to show u guys my hair at it's worst state. Anyway, I have a few questions if anyone would care to help me: 1) Which Norwood level am I, as I'm not sure. 2) Around how many grafts needed & if my donor hair is enough? 3) Istanbul, Turkey would be an ideal place for me to have a HT as I usually transit through here on my travels & only Dr. Erdogan is recommended in this site in Istanbul. I read he only uses manual FUE which should have superior results vs motorized, is that true? & how many maximum grafts can be transplanted in 1 session for manual? 4) I can take a month holiday for a HT & stay indoors mostly. People suggest wearing a cap afterwards but I'm a manager & I have meetings day & night and a cap is not a solution. Original hair will grow half an inch per month I read somewhere which is too slow & when I'm back to work, I'll look bald. Is there a way to shave the donor area but keep let's say 1-2 inches for the recipient during a HT? so that after 30 days I got more hair & i won't be shy to go out? 5) I read that some people get results after 3-6months but realistically most get results in around a year or so. When the transplanted hair comes out ugly in the first few months, can you shave it? or u should leave it grow as it is & don't mess with it? 6) What is the percentage of success is a FUE in general? For example if you transplant 1000 grafts, how many grafts would really stay in. I'm talking in general. 7) My final question, I read somewhere that the original hair near the transplanted hair in the recipient area might fall off for good or that's very uncommon? I will appreciate it if someone who has experience to answer these questions or at least some of them. Thanks in advance! Tim
