  4. pma: ive got to say that day one post op i was completely ok then day two to day 5 the swelling was bad in my face! the anesthetic moved down into my eyes and cheekbones and i looked like sloth from the goonies for a few days so id say either have it done and then fly home the next day or wait it out for a week!
  5. he said last week that he will be visiting the UK every couple of months and Mick at farjo has full details so maybe give mick a call, hes easy to talk to. It seems Dr. Lorenzo will be working back at his surgery in Madrid full time but Mick is taking his UK bookings? the best thing i did was to pick up the phone and make the call, i spent months and months deliberating and visited a couple of the more advertised and marketed UK clinics and got the feeling that they didnt know their ar*e from their elbow and as soon as i met Dr. Lorenzo i knew he was the guy for my hair op...that simple!
  6. that you do but id recommend not rushing in and just shortlisting your options. Start with Dr. Jose Lorenzo then Dr Koray Erdogan then onto Dr. Basinga, Dr Bijan Feriduni etc etc and try to find out from here approx costs, any bad experiences and results from patients. I was ready to go with Dr Erdogan in Istanbul but luckily for me i didnt have to travel that far as Dr. Lorenzo was coming to the Farjo clinic in Manchester (im only 25 miles away!!!) so it fell at a great time for me. I was contemplating going to see him in Madrid at his surgery there but at the time he didnt take many foreign patients. Now i heard he's set up a couple more surgery rooms within his clinic there and is taking foreign patients through Mick at Farjo. maybe give mick a call and he will see you at the farjo clinic and talk you through things without any pressure or sales talk! he's a genuinely decent guy, i can vouch for that and Dr. Lorenzo is as Tina Turner sang...simply the best!!!
  7. I would 'personally' stay well clear of transform or any other UK mass marketing campaign clinic as through personal research i found there to be no good FUE surgeons within the UK..apart from Dr. jose Lorenzo who was here for just one year and is now back in Madrid anyway. There are tons of other choices: Dr Basinga, Dr Koray Erdogan or even Dr. Lorenzo (my surgeon)...yes you may have to travel outside of the UK but if you want the best results then that shouldnt be a factor. There seems to be everyman and his dog getting onto the hair transplant bandwagon so i would be very weary of any pushy marketing campaigns in UK magazines/tv!!! just my opinion but i did do lots of research too for 2 years before choosing the right guy for me!
  8. i would have gone with Dr Koray Erdogan in istanbul if i hadnt had the funds for Dr. Jose Lorenzo. I do know also that Dr. Lorenzo is friends with Dr. Erdogan and they share ideas etc and i 'think' i read that they both do manual extraction and transplanting...i know Lorenzo does as he did mine! Dr. Erdogan gets great reviews online and i would say he's about half price of what you would pay for Dr. Lorenzo but then you have to factor in a flight/accomodation etc to Turkey.
  9. hi jhonny, no it wasnt mentioned to Dr Lorenzo about toppik but i wanted to give my head the best possible chance of healing and wait until all the scabs had fallen etc. I guess i was lucky in that i could wear a baseball cap or nothing hiding it in these first 2 months as i work from home so didnt have to venture out too much. saying that the transplanted hair didnt start to fall out until about 6 weeks so i was ok to go out to the gym etc without toppik up to this point.it was the 8 weeks to 6 months phase when i felt i needed it the most when it was falling and new hairs were coming through...the ugly duckling phase!!!!
  10. no worries and hope you manage to get in with Dr. Lorenzo....im guessing this is the time when he wishes human cloning was possible, then he'd be a very rich man!!!!!
  11. ------ hey romaninio, all good thanks mate! and you? heres my update on 6.5 mnths, hope yours is going swell!!!!!????
  12. ------ from my check-up last week he was heading back to Madrid and in his email to me this morning with my photos on he said he was just settling back in so im guessing hes going to be back up and running soon. Maybe call Mick at Farjo as they still have links with his Madrid surgery and i heard them saying that they have 2 new operating studios in the Madrid practice....business must be good but then again he's a legend....well in my eyes...and hair anyway!

  14. hers some before and after pictures as they are really good for comparisons, i even forget how little hair i had in that front area....until i saw these!!!!
  15. p.s the skin still looks pink in some of the photos but in reality its not noticeable! using couvre painted on the skin by applying lightly onto a sponge applicator masked this in the lesser growing back months.tip....go easy on the couvre and have some make up wipes to hand to wipe any off of the forehead where its not meant to be! then lightly work into the frontal hair line with a wipe so you get rid of the defined line it creates to create a natural effect amongst the hairline
  16. Hi guys, sorry ive been quiet on here for a few months but ive just had my 6.5 mnths post-op check up with dr.lorenzo and as you can see from the photos all is going very well! heres my update over the last few months: from 2 mnths to now, my transplanted hair has been growing back and getting thicker all the time. it was probably from about 4 mnths in that i really noticed it getting thicker and my 2 saviours during this growing back period were Toppik (light brown) hair fibres and couvre (dark brown). they really did mask the effect of the sparse areas where my transplanted hair was and without them i would have been a social hermit so please make sure you get these in advance of your hair transplant and can use from 2 mnths onwards. no one noticed i was using them, all of my friends knew i had an hair transplant as i have many p**s takers amongst my mates so i thought right just be honest and upfront then i dont have to feel embarrassed. hardly no-one has mentioned it and certainly not in jest and they are all mightily impressed with the results. Ive been on boys weekends away and many nights out so ive certainly tested them to their limits!!! my hair salon girls cant believe it everytime i go into the salon they check it out and say how thicker its getting (to which ive had 5 haircuts since its all been growing back as my hair grows quickly anyway). at my 6.5 months consultation i wanted to see Dr. Lorenzo before he went back to Madrid permanently last week. He greeted me with a big smile and seemed over the moon with the progress and told me its doing really well and i should expect another 40% to come through within the next 4 mnths or so!!! my girlfriend has already said to me its thick enough already so i cant wait for another 4 mnths down the line when i will hopefully be able to style it in any direction i wish! Lorenzo and Mick both seemed very happy with the results but more importantly so am i! i have noticed that the texture of the transplanted hair is slightly courser than the non-transplanted hair but i think that will change as it goes through its cycle? its certainly not un-manaegable and im sooo happy i had this done! supplements: ok so after 2 mnths post-op i took a one a day biotin tablet (natrol 10,000mcg) and also a one a day hair vitamin (perfectil original triple active). They are both cheap and last months so nothing fancy but i do think they have attributed to my quick hair growth. The 'natrol biotin' i split in half and only took half a tablet i.e 5,000mcg as i heard thats all you need. The 'perfectil' is from asda supermarket and costs ?10 for 3 blister packs which is 90 tablets in total so lasts 3 months, a bargain! as for shampoo i used 'herbal essence 0% silicone', again cheap as chips but read about not using silicone based shampoos. Thats it nice and simple and cheap on the supplement front apart from ive always taken and will continue to take a one a day 'Dr best Saw palmetto 320mg'. I took it before my op for a couple of years and dr.lorenzo said its helping to keep what i have with my existing hair too. Its also good for prostate health so at my age (39) ill keep on taking it for life! Dr Lorenzo told me last week that i dont need to take supplements anymore so im off of the biotin (i did stop using it anyway from about a month ago!) but im still taking the perfectil as its good for skin, nails and hair and can only help your general health too. as above ill also keep up the saw palmetto for life. So all in all guys i hope this update can help anyone else on their journey and ive got to say i dont regret it one little bit having it done, it really has changed my life and hair confidence! Ill update in another 4 mnths Hasta Luego!
  17. ------------------ Hey sunny D and romanino im glad to hear all is going well! Im suprised too about growth within this 2 month period as i fully expected all of the transplanted hairs to have fallen by now but i too have had growth where i was previously bald. I have lost most i would say in that 15-40 day period but am also suprised that some of the transplanted hairs have kept on growing in line with the rest of my hair. I wouldnt say it looks great or anything, more like baby hair. Thin and not great coverage but its more than expected at this 2 month stage so im happy!:-) As for people noticing ive got to say ive been very upfront from the start, i told people about it and ive even been into my hair salon to show them and they were all like wow and really interested. I guess its intriging for most people as theyve only seen celebs have it done not first hand. Ive got friends too who are also thinking about having it done and had people asking my advice, even a guy from the hair salon so id like to think this experience we've gone through is a great platform to educate others too. Oh and i played golf yesterday with my baseball cap on and when in the visiting parties clubhouse/bar they asked me to remove my cap (its a stuffy golf tradition to not wear caps inside!) so i had to don the cap in front of 7 friends, some id never met before and they didnt know. I was just honest as one of my friends said lets have a look then and any embarrasment/arkwardness dissapeared right then! I did feel like i had to justify the growth or lack of as i guess the un-educated think its gone wrong or something when they dont see a full head of hair....even at 2 months!!! Ill post some pics soon as im going in to see mick at farjo for my 2 month check up.i said im in the area anyway so will pop in and see him and i guess its a good thing to be seen by the pro's too to see what they think of this 2 month stage. Keep posting boys and good luck with this ugly duckling phase.....be patient!!!!!
  18. ha, im sure 3 days in Amsterdam will have you well chilled out before hand...if not youre doing something wrong!!! good luck with your Op and like you say youre not having the full hairline did like i did so it wont be as noticeable anyway. p.s Dr. Lorenzo usually sends you all the pics afterwards anyway so you can upload them to your blog page...ill keep my eyes out for them!
  19. Glad to hear romanino that youre healing well! ive had comments from family and friends about not even looking like ive had an OP so like yourself they arent any signs of surgery now apart from a slight redness on the skin under the recipient site. The scabs etc have left the building! The itching is still there occasionally but not bad at all though but i do have sensitive skin and get prickly heat when i go on holiday so i guess its just me and my funny skin!!!:-) The transplanted hair has started to fall when i wash now once a day, only slightly but its getting thinner up there which is to be expected, I've even ordered some 'Toppik' off of the internet and it arrives tomorrow so im going to give it a whirl. I'm only using it as this week im in ireland seeing clients then have a meeting with another client so i dont want to be feeling self conscious now its thinning slightly and i cant turn up wearing a baseball cap because its not very professional in my field.
  20. Hey guys sorry ive been quiet on here but have been busy working to pay for this OP!!!!:-) Anyway here's my 8 days post op-pictures from when i visited the Farjo clinic and Dr. Lorenzo (for my stitches taking out from the cyst Lorenzo removed). Dr. Lorenzo personally washed my hair too as i hadnt been massaging the shampoo into my recipient area hard enough and had a few scabs and loose skin coverage. Im really glad that i went back actually as i was scared to wash too hard and damage/wash off any transplanted hairs but in an email Dr. Lorenzo said dont worry ill show you how hard you should be on the area and when you come in ill wash it for you and remove as much as i can...well that he did as he removed about 95% of the scabs and skin etc so i left the clinic a very happy chappy!:-) He also got his assistants to come along and inspect the area and i was very happy to learn that i had healed really well...good times! As for washing the area. it turns out that from around day 4-8 i should have been washing a bit harder than i had been! simply leaving the water from a low running showerhead on my head for around 5 minutes first to soften the scabs/skin and then massaging the hair with the shampoo with 2 fingers of each hand in a medium to firm pressure was what was required. Dr. lorenzo also used a fine tooth comb and in-between the massaging of the shampoo he very gently used the comb to comb out the scabs/skin. This did the trick for sure and it resulted in a very clean recipient area!
  21. p.s hey sunnyd and romanino how are you getting on now? healing well and losing any of the transplanted hairs yet?
  22. hi hairweare, sunnyD is right about the bleeding/blood spots are gone day 3 post op but i dont think you'll have a problem 2 days post op! in fact as far as my OP went with Dr. Lorenzo (a great/positive experience by the way!!!!) the swelling on my face from the anesthesia was pretty bad about day 3/4 post op so i reckon at day 2 that wouldnt have kicked in by that point so youll be in a better position. as for the bleeding on the pillow, speaking from my experience it was only very slight by day 2 anyway and spraying the site with saline like sunny D mentioned in the restrooms (use a bottle 100ml or less for getting through airport security with carry on!) will help too. I only know from my experience but id say youll be absolutely fine flying home and you may not even be wearing a hat...i have honestly hand on heart not worn an hat once since the op and im now 19 days post op. even straight after the op it had healed really well and no-one even looked, stared or noticed...you forget there are some cr*p haircuts out there in the world so no-one bothers anymore!!!hehe Im sure once youve had it done you'll feel liberated, happy and will embrace the healing process and the skinhead look!!!;-)
  23. Hi romanino, all good thanks! Back workng from home now and still dealing with the itching! Not been sleeping well at all as my head has been feeling sore on the donor sites coupled with the itching but theres no redness or sores there and dr. Lorenzo said its all normal so im just riding the wave! Have found a better sleep position now too, i double over the pillow and rest my neck and ear sleeping side onto it rather than the back of my head as that feels weird on the pillow right now.also taking ibuprofen during the day and paracetemol at night. I was washing my full head each morning and night before bed but i find that for an hour or so after washing it feels more sensitive so last night i washed it a few hours before bed and slept much better, maybe try this if youre struggling to sleep!? Btw your photos look good mate and youve got great coverage too!!!:-) 'g' yes mate will be good to follow your progress....afterall we've all been through the same experience here and all learning tips and tricks from each other and others on this site too. Good luck with your recovery!
  24. The saline spray was given to me as part of my post-op pack from the clinic itself. It seems that different clinics/surgeons have different methods of recovery but i read that a saline spray is some form of salt in water? Helps keep it moist and stops it drying out.some say a moist scalp heals quicker? This i do not know but most on here say that the saline stops you itching so much post-op. ive been itching from day 2 post-op and dont know if anything but willpower helps tbh but if it just helps it heal better then its a winner! Your swelling will go away so dont panic, i was the same as you with it between my eyes and nose but massaging it a few times a day away from that region along with tons of fluid (water) intake will sort it out in no time!!!:-) happy recovery mate
  25. Ha sorry wrong end of the stick....just a note though, dont mess with us Northerners!!!!hehe my bad! Tom my apologise for ranting over your post. Also like you i had an high hairline (hence slaphead!!) but thick and dense hair too on the sides and back (just receding at the front) and FUE was my option. Im sure with your famiy history, current density/thickness etc that youll have a very successful new hairline via this method too but have a free consult and then youll be more sure. I just got my results back from my op last week and here they are. Total FU’s: 2701 Hairs. 7052 Hair per graft: 2.61 singles: 7% FU's>2: 93% FU1: 175 FU2: 980 FU3: 1257 FU4: 284 Punch: 0.8 and 0.9 Hair texture. 56 microns. I dont know about stats too much but ive got feedback on here that it all seems to spell good news on the new hairline density etc. so this may give you an idea of what you could expect!?!?
